Welcome to the December newsletter where we take a look at some exciting new product launches. There is a bit of an Oriental theme going on as you will discover. Traditionally the December newsletter is where we also take a retrospective look at the year and if you are new to VH this year, get ready because it goes kind of wild as there are some fabulous treats throughout the newsletter. Please read very carefully and follow the instructions because I don’t want you to miss out!
Can I just say here that sharing is really important to me, as many of you know, and sharing has many connotations; our mission of sharing the latest cutting-edge products, scientific information, new ingredients and breakthrough technologies is a given. I’ve always stated that we don’t do mediocrity in any way, shape or form and that includes the products I write about and the brands we list on our site. Sharing also includes caring for each and every one of you and that really matters.
Your feedback and loyalty throughout the year has been absolutely amazing, so this newsletter is a tribute and an acknowledgement of the trust you have in us and the respect we have for you. Let’s begin with some new product launches, with apologies to the VH Addicts who already know about some of these:
The Original MakeUp Eraser
Let me tell you, I went into raptures when I saw this product because it removes make-up with just water, including stubborn waterproof mascara. It is from America and it really, really works. It is a simple cloth, which you use with water, and for those of us who are extraordinarily sensitive to eye make-up removers (count me in, I’m one of them) this is a miracle. All you have to do is to wet a portion of the MakeUp Eraser with warm water, gently rub off make-up/mascara in a circular motion and then flip the Eraser onto the long nap side to exfoliate, if you wish.
It is quite a large cloth, it is pink, it does not contain chemicals and you can throw it into the washing machine and wash it up to 1000 times and it will still work and stay spotlessly clean. I tested this out on somebody who was wearing heavy waterproof mascara and it was off with a swipe; naturally it now resides in my bathroom. My eyes are happy, I’m happy and you know those nights when you come home really late and you really can’t be bothered to go through an entire cleansing routine, just grab the Eraser and all your make-up will be removed in seconds; it’s a whole lot better than flopping into bed with your make-up/mascara on. Genius product.
The Original MakeUp Eraser £15.95
Clear Nose Set
From America to Japan, please let me introduce you to the Clear Nose Set, which is a bestselling product in Japan and you will understand why. It has been specifically formulated to help remove blackheads, grime and dirt from the nose and it also helps shrink open pores, without irritation. It is a quick, safe and effective treatment using innovative technologies, including a volcanic carbon extract that is rich in minerals together with a newly developed membrane, which helps attract dirt and grime. Each Clear Nose Set contains Pore Smooth Magic Water, a blackhead eraser mask and cotton peel off sheets.
All you do is apply the Pore Smooth Magic Water to the nasal area, after cleansing, and leave for 2-3 minutes. Then apply an even layer of the Blackhead Eraser Mask on the nose; wash your hands thoroughly and then place the Cotton Peel Off Sheet onto the area where the mask was applied. Lightly press from the top part of the nose downwards and leave on for ten minutes, or until it is completely dry. Remove the sheet from each side of the nose slowly and your nose will now be dirt and grime free; you will also visibly see the results on the sheet, if you like looking at that kind of thing. I do, it makes me happy (yes, I’m sad!). Finally you can use this once or twice a week to keep pores clean and minimized; two different formulations, one for girls and one for boys, which is a slightly stronger version.
Clear Nose Set £19.95; Clear Nose Set for Men £19.95
Thai Hot Herbal Compress Ball
We’re doing a bit of globe-trotting on this bulletin and we are now in Thailand (figuratively speaking) with the Thai Hot Herbal Compress Ball. For centuries Thai people have been using dried herbs to help treat many ailments in the body and one of the most common, and effective, treatments for muscle and soft tissue pain is the use of herbal compresses. Whilst I am completely fascinated with new scientific discoveries (watch this space, we have one coming early next year), I do so love a ‘primal product’ for its simplicity and this is pretty primal.
Herbal compresses are traditionally used in Thai massages, but they make a fabulous ‘at-home’ treatment and they are becoming a staple for conditions other than the treatment of muscle and soft tissue pain. These include stress, anxiety, insomnia, poor circulation, headaches, migraines, low energy and menstrual pain; they are also brilliant for using on the feet and the thought of a hot herbal compress ball being massaged into the soles of my feet just sends me. I really recommend doing this an hour or so before you go to bed.
To use the compress ball, run it under warm water and then heat in the microwave for 30-40 seconds or pop it into a steamer, if you have one; remove, test the temperature and then either pat, pound or roll them onto the skin. If you suffer from headaches, then use it on your temples and if you have menstrual cramps, roll gently over your tummy. You get two compress balls per pack and the heat from the compress carries the essential oils and herbal essences deep into the skin, tissues and organs. A sublime experience and they are re-usable; once the compress ball has cooled down, place in a zip lock bag and keep refrigerated until you the next time of use.
Thai Hot Herbal Compress Ball – Twin Pack £17.50
Non F Shabon Roller Cleansing Bar
We are back in Japan and please don’t ask me to explain the name of this product, because I can’t! All I can tell you is that it is a luxurious, creamy, rich lather cleansing soap; soaps of this type are one of the biggest buzzes in Japan right now and we chose this version because it is using world patented ionized mineral and new development soap material. Formulated to cleanse, hydrate, moisturize, re-balance and feed your skin, the ionized minerals in the Shabon Roller help create a rather extraordinary lather, the likes of which I have never seen before, and it delivers enriching minerals directly to cells of the skin. A light hydrating film is left on the skin and it works as a moisture mask after rinsing.
The Shabon Roller is perfect for compromised skin conditions including acne, acne rosacea, dermatitis and dry skin on the face and body. It helps calm skin and its rich lather is perfect for helping to remove keratin plugs on the skin from those suffering from Keratosis Pilaris (chicken skin). Other ingredients in this soap include Marine Collagen; this low molecular weight marine collagen is the smallest particle currently available globally and it helps strengthen skin structure, whilst moisturizing. White Jelly Fungus is prized for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties; this mushroom is rich in minerals helping to moisturize, calm and protect skin against environmental pollution and damage. Finally, Lipidure, which is similar to the membranes of skin cells, displays excellent moisturizing properties whilst allowing hydrating minerals into the skin.
Now this is the fun part; place the soap in a jug and pour about 50 ml of warm water into the jug; make a soap water by stirring with your hand for about 30 seconds and then take out the soap; stir a bit more and this is the bit where your eyes will fall out of your head (well not literally!) because you will have a mountain of the softest foam ever. There are demonstrations of this all over Tokyo at the moment and when you try it, you will understand the fascination and the efficacy. Just brilliant and the soap will last absolutely ages! The soap does not need to be rinsed off as it can be left on and sinks into the skin which will unplug keratin and grime or it can be rinsed off. To watch the video click here; it kind of blows your mind!
Non F Shabon Roller Cleansing Bar £20
Hosomi Oriental Herb Bath
The Japanese love to bathe and traditionally they do it as an end-of-day ritual to help them relax for bedtime. The ritual begins by cleansing the body, using the Shabon Roller Cleansing Bar perhaps, and then using a special cloth (The Dermasuri of course!) to exfoliate dead skin cells. This is commonly done before climbing into a steaming hot bath, which is often infused with aromatic herbs. The Hosomi Oriental Herb Bath sachets have been specifically blended from nine food-grade herbs to help warm the body, allow deep detoxification, promote relaxation and to help support the immune system. Using the principles of Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, the fragranced Hosomi bath also helps to reduce arthritic stiffness, alleviates coldness and swelling in the body and helps eliminate fatigue.
To use, just put one sachet (it’s like a giant tea bag) into the bath and gently knead the bag in the hot water to steep the herbs well; soak and relax. The bath water will turn yellow and various testers have reported that it is like stepping into a sunshine bath. One of the testers sent me a great tip, after kneading the bag she started to inhale the fragrance and said it relaxed her immediately. Just to end, some of the herbs include Ginger, Mint, Fennel, Mugwort and Liquorice and the product is free from artificial colours, preservatives, dyes, perfumes, SLS and chemicals. A truly wonderful ritual for cold winter nights.
Hosomi Oriental Herb Bath £18 for 12 Sachets

Two new product releases from Soapsmith, both of which would make wonderful gifts for Christmas. The first is ‘Pudding Lane’ and this clever soap creation is named after the street, Pudding Lane, the scene of the Great Fire of London in 1666, which started in a baker’s shop. The soap smells like a Christmas Pudding with sumptuous spices and fruit. They would make fabulous place settings on a table, provided nobody tried to eat one!
Pudding Lane by Soapsmith £8
The Soapsmith Soap Box features eight bars from the Soapsmith range and it comes in a divine box. Each bar of soap represents a London postcode, so you can choose your favourite scent. The box includes 60 gram soap bars of Lavender Hill, Bloomsbury, Baker Street, Limehouse, Brick Lane, Marble Arch and Kensington. Just looking at the box makes me happy!
Soapsmith Soap Box £20
The Treat: Spend £25 on any of the Soapsmith products on one order and we will automatically gift you with Camden Town Bath Soak, which is worth £12. This will not show up on your invoice, but will just arrive with your products.
In Your Prime by India Knight
Many of you are Sunday Times readers, so you will need no introduction to India Knight, who is a columnist for the Sunday Times writing about all things beauty in Style magazine, amongst other things. She has written three previous novels.
In her latest book, In Your Prime, India guides us through the process of ageing stating that: ‘Our fifty is not our mum’s fifty, let alone our granny’s. We have no map, or blueprint to tell us how to be. Are we supposed to be grown-up now all the time? Are we banned from leopard print?’
Older, wiser and happier, India provides solutions to all these quandaries of modern-day middle-age and covers a wide range of subjects in the book from clothes and cosmetics, being a parent, having older parents and of course, the menopause. So whether it is for you, or a gift for each of your girlfriends, this is a bit of a must-read and it really made me laugh – check out the fear of mutton!
My little heart skipped a beat when I read what India wrote about us, it’s on pages 234/235 of the menopause section and it made me feel really humbled. That’s all I’m saying here, except bravo India and thank you for loving our ‘under-the-radar products’.
In Your Prime by India Knight £11.75 (RRP £16.99)
We are now going to take a retrospective look back at the year; I will be talking about product launches, bestselling products and treats that you have loved, so we’ll do them again! I wanted to be really neat and do them in month order, but it all went a bit messy, so I’m doing them in no particular order, but just to say that there have been some pretty spectacular moments and I’m going to start with one of them, Sheald Recovery Balm, followed by a treat. Let’s go:
Sheald Recovery Balm
After three years in the lab, we launched Sheald Recovery Balm in February and nothing, but nothing prepared us for what happened. I have rarely seen a product launch like it and the world went wild for this extraordinary and immaculate formulation which was dubbed as ‘the ultimate SOS emergency beauty balm’. The accolades piled up as it effectively dealt with scarring and wound healing and if that wasn’t enough, it was formulated to be used on open wounds, thus quickening the healing process – a first.
When India Knight wrote about it in The Sunday Times, I was astounded that our website stood up to the onslaught and to this day, the demand for Sheald is still reaching epic proportions. To read what India wrote, then please click here. A couple of months later we went on to launch The Post-Procedure Kit, which incorporated a new product from iS Clinical, Copper Firming Mist. This ‘first aid kit for skin’ was highly acclaimed by surgeons and people who had undergone extensive surgery; the feedback was more than phenomenal and my LA boyfriends become heroic, once again.
Sheald Recovery Balm £43 for 60 ml; The Post-Procedure Kit £72 (worth £106)
Later in the year we went on to launch Warming Honey Cleanser and CoolMint Revitalizing Masque, both released under the Innovative Skincare umbrella and both of them cherry picked from their professional range. I begged and begged for these two products to be released because they are really outstanding products, but that kind of goes with the territory.
Warming Honey Cleanser £34 for 120 ml; CoolMint Revitalizing Masque £38 for 90 grams
The Treat: If you buy any product from either the iS Clinical or Innovative Skincare ranges we will automatically pop a wonderful treat into your order. Active Serum remains the serum to end all serums and it has a massive following; formulated for all skin types, this exceptional multi-purpose formula is designed to generate rapid and dramatic improvements in the over quality of the skin. We recommend using Active Serum in the evening. Super Serum is the ultimate day serum; antioxidant rich, it brightens and tightens the skin. ** Sorry this promotion has ended **
I’m calling this the Ultimate Day & Night Serum duo and the gift includes 3.75 ml of Active Serum, worth £17, and 3.75 ml of Super Serum, worth £18. So that’s a £35 gift sent with love from us and please note that this will not appear on your invoice, but will be included in your order (one gift per order). Just to say these products should give results within a week and a little goes a long way; you just need one or two drops of each serum per application as these are potent pharmaceutical grade concentrations. Less is more!
Phylia de M
I am going to keep this short and sweet; in my humble opinion the Phylia de M haircare range is the best in the world. I haven’t used anything else for nearly three years, my hair has changed dramatically in that time, it is an award-winning range and like iS Clinical, it has an exceptional following. Specifically formulated to help thinning hair, hair loss and hair health, we recommend using all the products in the range, Clean, Condition, Connect and Re-Connect, for optimum results and please, please don’t use any other hair products if you are on this programme, such as thickeners or hairspray as they will prevent Phylia from working properly. Straight into the treat, which I feel will go pretty wild, so don’t think about it too long because we only have a limited volume and once they are gone, they are gone!
The Three Step Kit £103 (Clean, Condition and Connect); The Four Step Kit £163 (Clean, Condition, Connect & Re-Connect)
The Treat: We have created a duo pack of Clean (the shampoo), specifically for this newsletter. Clean costs £28 for 265 ml, so if you love it, and thousands of you do, then please don’t faint, but two bottles of Clean would normally cost £56 and we have knocked £16 off, so for a limited time only you can buy two bottles of Clean for £40. This comes with much love and gratitude from Kazu Namise (the founder of Phylia de M) and us. To all Phylia followers, thank you for your support and loyalty. Niche products rule!
Clean Duo Pack £40 (RRP £56) ** Sorry this promotion has ended **
Seasonal Affective Disorder
Earlier this year I wrote about Seasonal Affective Disorder, also referred to as SAD. It is a condition that affects over half a million people in the UK and it impacts upon the mental wellbeing of people during the winter months.
Sufferers of SAD often experience low mood, various degrees of anxiety, loss of energy, sleep problems, irritability, increased appetite strong cravings for carbohydrates and sweet foods, as well as headaches and muscle pain. The defining characteristics of SAD are that the symptoms return annually and go away during other seasons.
The Treat: For a fuller explanation of SAD, please do take the time to read Shabir’s article here. In the article he recommends two supplements to help lessen and relieve the symptoms of SAD. They are Magnolia Rhodiola Complex (£26), which is our bestselling supplement for anxiety, and Terra Nova’s Vitamin B Complex with Vitamin C (£10). Together they would normally cost £36, but we have taken £10 off and you can now buy them together for £26; they really do help.
The SAD Treat £26 (Magnolia Rhodiola Complex; Vitamin B Complex with Vitamin C)
I wrote a whole section about my love of Lanolips on the November newsletter, so this too is going to be short and sweet. Together with Kirsten Carriol (founder of Lanolips) a big thank you to all Lanolips lovers and to Kirsten from me, thank you for trusting us to do all the UK launches. As many of you know, we launched Lanolips 101 Ointment with Strawberry and Lanolips Antibacterial Hand Cream earlier this year, they both went pretty wild and in recognition of your support, here comes a treat.
Lanolips 101 Ointment with Strawberry £7.99 for 10 grams; Lanolips Antibacterial Hand Cream £8.99 for 50 ml
The Treat: If you spend £15 or more on any Lanolips products, we will automatically send you the exclusive Lip Ointment in Mulberry. This is a limited edition for the holiday season and it is rather lush, sexy and gorgeous. You cannot buy Mulberry, so get clicking and get this on your lips right now before my daughter runs away with the stash – she’s kind of addicted and she loves Kirsten too.
Also from earlier this year, I’m replicating Fabulous Skin, just because I can and just because I know that so many of you will appreciate it:
The ageing of skin is a multi-faceted process, which is impacted by lifestyle, dietary choices and genetics. The cells of our bodies are programmed to have a finite lifespan. Each time a cell divides some genetic material is lost, so on average thirty to forty cell divisions are usually the maximum and after this the cell is considered to be aged. In order to maintain healthy and radiant skin, you need to protect, nourish and help prevent damage to the cells of the skin.
Nourish Your Skin is an insightful article, written by Shabir, which you can read here. His core recommendations are to take Hyaluronic Acid High Strength (HA), the most crucial of anti-ageing supplements in our opinion, Skin Restoring Ceramides, which is beyond brilliant for dry, dehydrated skin and Astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant.
The Treat: We have put HA and Skin Restoring Ceramides together and then thrown in Astaxanthin as a gift for your skin. Together all three products would normally cost £77, but with a wave of my ‘magic wand’, the price becomes £60 , which will give you a saving of £17. This is a limited time offer and will be available until midnight on Friday 12 December 2014. ** Sorry, this promotion has now ended **
Fabulous Skin £60 (includes Hyaluronic Acid High Strength £35; Skin Restoring Phytoceramides £25; High Potency Astaxanthin £17)
The Brow Boost Treat
Always really popular, here it comes again, The Brow Boost Treat. The first 100 people to buy Brow Boost, which is prostaglandin free (this is really important), will receive the Billion Dollar Brow Duo pencil free, which is worth £20. This is what we call a ‘secret weapon’ and in America they call it the ‘magic marker’ because of the way the Duo Highlighter illuminates and creates eye-catching brows. Your brows will ‘pop’ as you glide the highlighter end of the pencil over your brow bone, directly under your eyebrow for maximum definition. As an added bonus there is a universal concealer on the opposite end of the pencil. Go!
The Brow Boost Treat £25 (includes the Brow Duo Pencil worth £20)
Root Cover Up by Color Wow
As per Lanolips, I wrote about Root Cover Up on the November newsletter because it’s the second anniversary of the launch and it is the first root cover up to win every major beauty award in the US and the UK in less than two years; an unprecedented 20 beauty awards and we are still counting. I absolutely adored doing the launch, most especially because it was the first of its kind and it remains the best. With Root Cover Up selling more than one per minute on a global basis, we are going to have a bit of a celebratory treat because it all started here and your support of the brand has been phenomenal. Time to give back!
Root Cover Up by Colour Wow £28.50 in six shades
The Treat: Color Wow Brass Banned Mousse keeps colour from going bad and corrects brassy tones with lightly tinted pastel formulas. Brass Banned for blondes is lavender-tinted to tone down harsh, brassy blonde and restore soft, true blonde colour. The brunette formula features a unique teal-tinted formula that eliminates unwanted orange and red tones, to restore rich brown hues.
Most mousses contain alcohol, which can dry out and damage colour-treated hair, but Brass Banned is alcohol free, non-damaging and it also helps improve elasticity, so you get great bounce and styling power along with keeping your colour true.
So the bottom line here is that if you buy Root Cover Up in Platinum or Blonde, we will automatically include Brass Banned for Blonde Hair as a gift, which is worth £16.50 and if you buy Root Cover Up in any of the other shades, we will automatically include Brass Banned for Dark Hair, also worth £16.50, in your order. Once again this will not show up on your invoice, so please don’t fret. We have a limited amount to give away, so get them whilst you can!
** Sorry this promotion has ended **
The Mega Probiotic Treat
Whenever I write about Mega Probiotic it goes mad, especially when we throw in a treat. Most hard-core VH’ers take this supplement basically because everybody should take a probiotic and with over 80% of our immunity arising from the gut, we need to ensure that we can get sufficient quantities of beneficial bacteria into the gut since the stomach is highly acidic and destroys that vast majority of these bacteria as they are acid-sensitive. Mega-P (as we call it) contains eight strains of bacteria that are coated enterically with a protein coating, which protects them from the harsh acidic environment of the stomach.
I know I feel really sluggish if I forget to take Mega-P, which is followed almost immediately by an inevitable bloating episode; it would definitely be one of my ‘desert island’ must-haves, so let’s do the treat:
The Treat: For a limited time only, whilst stocks last, if you buy Mega Probiotic, we will throw in a travel size pack of 30 capsules, worth £9.25. This will not be shown on your invoice, but will just arrive. Just to say that from past experience, this treat will sell through really quickly, so get those fingers moving.
Mega Probiotic ND £18.50 for 60 Capsules
Super Yacon Syrup
Yet another spectacular moment when we launched Yacon Syrup; it was trending really heavily in America and so we investigated the root cause of its success. It transpired that a study had been released that found that overweight women using Yacon lost an average of 33 pounds over 120 days and subsequently dropped four inches from their waist. We started to dig deep and look at the health benefits of Yacon, not just the weight loss factor and the rest is history.
To read more about the Yacon story, please click here to read Shabir’s article, but it is a totally brilliant alternative to sugar, it doesn’t have a bitter aftertaste like Stevia and it is also pretty useful if you suffer from constipation. As I said at the time, sugar does not just make us fat, it can also make us sick.
The Treat: We have created a Super Yacon Syrup Duo Pack, the price for two would normally be £36, we’ve knocked £6 off and tra la la, two bottles of Super Yacon Syrup for £30.
Super Yacon Syrup Duo Pack £30
The Tweezy – Facial Hair Removal
I get moments when I just have to look at a product and it sends shivers down my spine; this happened with The Tweezy. It wasn’t because it’s gorgeous because it’s not, but I thought it was genius then and I still do now. It’s just a tightly coiled metal spring with a rubber handle at each end and it works in the same way as threading, by trapping the hair between the springs, pulling it out from the root.
To use The Tweezy, you need to bend into a ‘U’ shape, hold it onto the facial hair and twist it inwards and upwards slowly. You will need to play around with it for a few minutes to get the correct twisting action, but once you’ve worked it out, it’s really easy.
The Treat: I’m actually not sure if there are any VH’ers who don’t own this little gizmo, but just in case you don’t, or want to buy them as stocking fillers or gifts for all your girlfriends, we have put together a sharing pack. This comprises two Tweezy’s for £15, instead of the normal price for two, £20. I know I’m pretty sad, but I love anything like this.
The Tweezy Sharing Pack £15 (2 x The Tweezy)
Right, let’s do a couple of skincare treats. As most of you know, I am extraordinarily fussy about the skincare brands that we carry. We could list 500 brands on our site, but we choose not to. For me, skincare has to be result driven and it needs to do what it says on the tin. It needs to be authentic, it needs to be honest and I’ve got no time for hype or ‘twisted’ statements about clinicals. For sure, I will go scream and shout about great skincare, but we are all different and all I really care about is that whichever brand you choose, it must work for you.
Each skincare brand we list has its own personality and uniqueness, together with its own cult following. These brands are often niche and not widely available, but I like that and so I am going to take just two brands in this section and throw a treat into each of them.
In Fiore: Launched in the UK earlier this year, In Fiore is a very specialized brand founded by the pretty remarkable Julie Elliott, who is dedicated to promoting the centuries-old wisdom of the health benefits of raw florals and herbs. Her distinctive and pioneering range promises wondrous healing benefits wrapped in the aromatic charms of perfume. Using the stance of perfumery as medicine, the spirit of In Fiore was inspired by ancient bathing rituals.
If you haven’t discovered the In Fiore range yet, then please do take a look because the products are gorgeous and if you buy any In Fiore product for the duration of this newsletter, we will pop in a travel size Fleur Vibrante Healing Floral Essence, the international bestseller in the US, Japan and the UK. Such a divine brand, check it out.
Aurelia: For a very young brand, Aurelia has achieved an awful lot. In their infancy they swept the board in the Beauty Bible Awards, with five of their products achieving incredibly high scores. As I have previously written, for a brand to become multi-award winning it takes an awful lot of work behind the scenes to create products that do what they say they will do. But there is something else that matters and that is passion and integrity. Aurelia is abundantly rich in both and it shines through their products, so in my book, passion and integrity can be bottled because Aurelia have done it.
Let me also say here that I adore all the Aurelia girls, their support and honesty is just so refreshing and they are a pleasure to work with. It makes a difference, seriously and once again they have come up with a gorgeous gift for all followers of Aurelia.
The Treat: Spend £20 or more on any Aurelia products and we will include a beautiful travel size of their Rose Face Mask (15 ml), which is worth £16. This is a limited edition, so once they are gone, they are gone. I think you will adore using the Face Mask, it’s pretty amazing.
How could I not include this; yes it’s Fabulous Legs and once again we have put together two of our bestselling products, The Dermasuri and Miracle Lotion just because we all deserve to have fabulous, smooth legs every season of the year and these two products just do that thing rather spectacularly.
The Dermasuri, as most of you know, is the once-a-fortnight secret to soft skin, so no more daily buffing as this exfoliating mitt helps achieve healthy, glowing skin that maintains its elasticity, suppleness and smoothness. It is also an integral part of the Japanese bathing ritual, which I have written about at the beginning of this newsletter.
I have been writing about Miracle Lotion since the beginning of time (VH time!) because nothing comes close to bearing the effect it has on dry, parched legs. I know its winter, but dry legs can turn into sore legs and that’s definitely not on the agenda.
The Treat: The Dermasuri is £19.95, Miracle Lotion is £15, which makes £34.95; so we are going to take £10 off of the total and voila, you get both for £24.95. Get this treat whilst you can because this offer is only valid until midnight on Friday 12 December. ** Sorry, this promotion has now ended**
Fabulous Legs £24.95
I’ve not included any health editorials this month otherwise there wouldn’t have been enough space for all the treats, or even worse the newsletter would have been so long that you would have been reading forever. So, we’re keeping it pretty light as Jo Fairley writes about Christmas de-stressing, Catherine Turner reports on Being Happier in our Own Skin and the Beauty Bible girls reveal their favourite face-wakers.
News and Feedback
I have to begin this section by writing about the Red Carpet Collection by Temple Spa; if this range of products doesn’t sweep up numerous awards, I will eat my hat (which would be a great pity because I’ve just acquired a great hat!). I can’t tell you how much I am loving these products. Currently Glint is the bestseller (I wonder why!) closely followed by Look On The Bright Side, which quite honestly I wouldn’t want to live without, and I’m not alone in thinking they are pretty sensational.
The Beauty Bible girls are huge fans too and they say: ‘OMG. Sound the trumpets! We just can’t wait for you to try these products because they are completely fabulously A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and they are rapidly going to make you feel like the most glamorous gorgeous A-Lister’. I have an ever-so-slight feeling that this collection with follow in the footsteps of Skin Truffle, which romped away with the highest mark ever recorded in the ‘Miracle Cream’ section of The Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible. Don’t even think of doing the party season without these products on your dressing table, or bathroom, or anywhere really, just as long as they land on your face!
Red Carpet Collection by Temple Spa; Skin Truffle £80 for 50 ml; The Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible £12.95
The onslaught continues for Magnesium Body wash; at the time of writing the manufacturers seem to be keeping up-to-date with the huge demand, so get ready, because we are about to launch its companion product, Magnesium Lotion, which is just as wonderful.
Magnesium Lotion helps to correct magnesium deficiencies (we are mostly magnesium deficient), whilst leaving your skin soft and smooth. It is a highly concentrated lotion of pure magnesium chloride, mined deep from under the earth’s surface and is enriched with shea butter and coconut oil to soothe and hydrate the skin without it feeling greasy.
It is particularly useful for sensitive skin and it works to help calm and encourage the healing of inflammatory skin concerns such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. It enhances cellular energy for effective regeneration of cell tissues and is suitable for all skin types, including very dry skin. It can also be used on children. What’s not to love!
Magnesium Body Wash £9.95 for 473 ml; Magnesium Lotion £9.95 for 240 ml
Let’s do nails and I’m talking about an article recently published in The Times written by Carolyn Asome (waving to Carolyn – hello and thank you). The article was called ‘What the Fashion Editors Don’t Tell Us’ and I promise you I couldn’t stop laughing when I read it. I would love to replicate the entire feature here, just because it would make you smile ever so much, but space prohibits that, so instead just read what she wrote about Lanolips Golden Ointment:
‘The Nail Colour of the Season: Ha, there isn’t one! Chanel’s Rouge Noir or Particulière, Essie’s Minky Muffs come and go, but proper fashion people only ever wear their nails nude, short and buffed. Bastien Gonzalez is the man to go to, but good luck getting an appointment. And you thought this was the low-maintenance approach? Think again. Healthy nails so shiny you can see your reflection in them require copious tubes of Lanolips Golden Ointment, which you will be massaging into your cuticles every night. Coloured nail polish and especially Shellac are not what fashion editors wear.’
Lanolips Golden Ointment £17.99 for 50 grams
Not long to go now, so do check out our Gift section, where we have a rather gorgeous selection of gifts; this year I am particularly loving all the Temple Spa gifts because they are beautifully packaged and I love the boxes passionately; they really are having a ‘moment’ and I’m so thrilled for them because they are genuinely lovely people.
Notwithstanding that, I am now going to list the five bestselling Christmas gifts, at the moment, in no particular order:
- Wake Me Up and Wind Me Down by Temple Spa £18. Check it out here
- Instant Inner Strength by Aromatherapy Associates £15. Check it out here
- Christmas Wish Scented Candle by Neom £32. Check it out here
- I Have A Dream by This Works £75. Check it out here
- Spongelle Papaya Yuzu Flower Body Buffer £12. Check it out here
The End Bit
Let’s end this newsletter, and this year, with a bit of bang and because I’m rather fond of instigating riots (of the good kind!), this will please our Customer Care team and make fifty of you very happy.
So, the first 50 people to call our Customer Care team on 020 8951 4144, will be made VH Addicts, worth £30. To read all the advantages of being an Addict, besides being a VIP, do read the Addicts link below and you will see that the main privilege is that you receive 10% discount on most of the brands on our site, with just a few exceptions.
This offer is not open to current VH Addicts or to anybody who has been an Addict, but their membership has lapsed. This is primarily for new VH’ers, so hey ho, off we go!
And so this is it, another year done and dusted and we look forward to 2015 and all that it brings. At the top of this newsletter, I thanked each of you for your immense loyalty and support, but I would just like to thank all the amazing journalists, editors and bloggers who continue to write about us and our products. Words alone cannot express my ongoing gratitude.
The health and beauty industry is pretty tough, but I promise you that we will continue to research cutting-edge and pioneering products and ingredients and I would also like to pay tribute to the researchers and scientists who continually break down barriers.
Finally, my thanks to the many brands that are bold and brave enough to bring their products to market; together we have launched some pretty incredible products over the years; I am particularly talking about the brands that have integrity, honesty and put the health and wellbeing of their customers before their bank balance. You know who you are, I know who you are and there really is no greater gift than the gift of health. I thank you.
All that remains is for me, together with Shabir and the entire VH team, to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a healthy New Year. I am not going to release the January newsletter until Tuesday 6 January, mostly because not many of us will be in mode!
