Natracare

16-Pack

Suitable for Vegans

£3.60

Natracare Organic Regular Applicator Tampons are a 100% Certified Organic tampons with a cardboard applicator. This smooth easy-glide cardboard applicator is completely biodegradable. Just twist to release and push.

Most applicators are made from plastic or rigid bio-plastics. These commonly contain phthalates, which can be absorbed through the skin and cause hormone disruption. What’s more is they don’t biodegrade, contributing to worldwide plastic-pollution.

Many rayon-blend tampons have a plastic veil to prevent fibre-loss, and they can also have added perfume or dyes which is totally unnecessary for managing your period.

This is why Natracare only ever use plastic-free applicators and organic cotton for their tampons. They never use GM cotton or unnecessary plastic, so keeping your vagina free from pesticide residues, plastic or toxic residuals or rayon.

Absorbency: 6-9g.
16 organic tampons per pack.

Are applicator tampons easier to use?
Applicator tampons are designed to help insert a tampon. Some people prefer applicator tampons as a simple, more hands-free way to use tampons. It’s a matter of personal preference whether this is easier for you.

Why use a cardboard applicator?
Natracare cardboard applicators are completely recyclable or compostable. Some companies use “plant-based applicators”, but Greenpeace discovered this bio-plastic material is the same structure as oil-based plastic and will not biodegrade! Plant-based plastic applicators pollute in the same damaging way to the environment as petroleum plastic after use.

What tampon absorbency should I choose?
Always go for the lowest absorbency that you need. During your period, you may find you use different absorbencies because your flow is lighter at the beginning or end of your period.

How often should I change my tampon?
It’s important to change your tampons regularly, every 4-6 hours, and alternate between using tampons and pads. It is not recommended that you wear a tampon when you are sleeping because you will most likely be leaving it in too long. Read the instruction leaflet found in the tampon packs for how to use tampons safely to avoid risks associated with Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS).

Can you flush cardboard applicators?
No, you shouldn’t flush tampon applicators or tampons. Natracare applicators are made from biodegradable cardboard but are not suitable for flushing. Card doesn’t have time to break down properly after flushing so would contribute to blockages. The best way to dispose of the applicator is either to compost or with your regular waste.

Can I compost Natracare pads, panty liners, tampons and wipes?
Yes, Natracare products are compostable.

Do Natracare products contain corn?
Natracare use corn starch for the leak-proof layer on the back of our pads and panty liners. The film is suitable for those who suffer from corn allergies. The protein or allergen is entirely absent from the starch films.  They use GMO-free corn, which is sustainably sourced as a waste by-product from growing crops.

Do Natracare products contain gluten?
Natracare tampons, pads, liners and wipes are gluten-free and produced in a gluten-free environment.

Do Natracare products contain latex?
Natracare products do not contain latex. Natracare don’t state “Latex Free” on their packs because of USA packaging requirements.  Latex is used to make the wings on a sanitary pad more flexible. Often you won’t know if there is latex in menstrual products, so if you have a latex allergy you could experience rashes and irritation when using a pad.  Natracare does not use latex and they have a full ingredients list printed on the packaging.

Do Natracare products contain super absorbent polymers?
Natracare products do not contain super-absorbent polymers (SAPs).  Super-absorbent material (made from petroleum) is used to prevent leakages and absorb moisture. These materials are effective and cheap but they are harmful to the planet and our health. Natracare pads are made from only sustainable natural materials, which are biodegradable.

Do Natracare products contain plastic?
Natracare products do not contain any petroleum-based plastics.  Most conventional pads contain plastics like polypropylene and super absorbent polymers (SAPs). These materials are effective and cheap but they are polluting to the planet and harmful to our health. Natracare pads and panty liners are backed with a home-compostable plant-based plastic made from renewable materials.

Do Natracare products contain resorcinol?
No. None of the Natracare products contain Resorcinol. Resorcinol is an ingredient found in some adhesives and is a chemical of concern. They use a medical grade synthetic rubber as the glue in their pads and liners.

Who certifies the cotton?
Farmers growing organic cotton used for all Natracare products, are certified according to international organic farming standards as well as to the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) Regulation. These cotton farms are audited annually by Control Union, an accredited organic certifier, and out of precaution, the cotton is also tested for the absence of pesticides and GMOs. Transaction Certificates follow our organic cotton from the field to processing.

All of the cotton used for Natracare products are certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). In their case, also by Control Union.

  • The Soil Association certifies Natracare tampons and wipes.
  • ICEA and Ecocert IMO certify the oranic cotton used for Natracare pads and panty liners.

What does “cotton-like” mean on packaging?
Cotton-feel or cotton-like are ways of falsely tricking you into thinking something is made from cotton without actually breaking the trade description laws. These “cotton-like”, “cotton-soft” covers use synthetic materials and do not contain any cotton fibres.

Do Natracare products expire?
Yes, our products are biodegradable, so over time they will lose quality. Natracare wipes have an expiry of two years. Natracare tampons, pads and panty liners have an expiry date of three years. You can find the expiry date printed on the packaging.  Storage: Please store Natracare products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or high humidity. This will help ensure you are getting the best performance and quality.

Is Natracare packaging recyclable?
All Natracare packaging is designed to be either recyclable or compostable. Natracare use recycled cardboard for most of our packs.
