NIOD Flavanone Mud: more than a mud masque, Flavanone Mud helps decongest skin with bentonite clay, black mud and a highly purified flavanone derived from citrus peel. Flavanone Mud removes surface impurities, deep cleanses and protects skin against pollution which can lead to premature ageing.
Flavanone Mud (FM) is a three-phase rinse-off dermal decongestion system that disrupts neither the skin surface equilibrium nor its density. While FM can be classified as a masque for categorical convenience, its approach varies substantially from that offered by the concept of masks today both in terms of its positive influence on the skin as well as its respect for dermal integrity.
Masks generally offer decongestion by means of including muds and clays to absorb surface impurities. While some level of deeper cleaning does occur with this approach, muds or clays are unable to solubilize surface impurities and so the decongestion is inefficient.
Flavanone Mud approaches dermal decongestion in three phases:
Purifying Phase: in this phase, surface impurities including water and oil soluble pollutants, cosmetic product build-up and excess sebum build-up are physically solubilized and removed. Black Amazonian clay binds to external impurities while reducing visible pore inconsistency. A delivery system for oxygen within the formulation increases skin’s aerobic energy system and opposes reactive oxygen species that contribute to longer-term ageing.
Protective Phase: the most innovative approach to decongesting the skin using technologies that offer a shield against external pollutants. Resveratrol and a bio-technological derivative of citrus peel protect against external pro-inflammatory external aggressions which could lead to premature ageing.
Responsive Phase: this phase introduces signalling mechanisms to support dermal immunity against congestion factors while supporting the health of skin. A highly purified flavanone derived from the inner parts of citrus peel triggers sustained circulatory, non-inflammatory response to dermal detoxification and immune functions. Modified oleic acid acts as an anti-inflammatory agent without disturbing the pH unlike many other acids such as glycolic acid which increase inflammation, reduce derma density and skin’s defence mechanisms.
Masques and rinse-off treatments often highlight a promise toward glowing skin without respect for the fact that for skin to be truly glowing, so much needs to be in order including purification, texture regularity, pigmentation regularity, microcirculation, pore prominence and sebum function. They often contain aggressive clays, acids or exfoliating mechanisms which cause sufficient irritation for a temporary “glowing” tone. Flavanone Mud avoids the use of aggressive clays, acids, high or low pH exfoliating mechanisms that would disturb dermal balance or cause undue inflammation.
Directions: Use Flavanone Mud once a week. Clean skin with Low Viscosity Cleaning Ester and/or water. Apply a thin layer of Flavanone Mud to the entire dry face, avoiding the lower and upper eyelids. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Flavanone Mud can also be used once daily for the first five days followed by weekly maintenance applications for an accelerated effect.
Note: Due to its circulatory properties, Flavanone Mud may cause a stinging sensation which may increase after it is rinsed-off.
