Three of the Absolute Best

Three of the Absolute Best

At Beauty Bible, we’ve been there, done that and ironed the t-shirt, product-wise – seen it all, tried it all (and rejected a lot of it), over the years. But as many of you know, every day on we do feature a new Beauty Bible Loves item, hand-picked from the hundreds we receive every week from the world’s leading beauty brands. (Oh, it’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it).

Last month, something spectacular happened. Gill introduced us to three products which frankly blew our minds and became cornerstones of our beauty lives. We shared our raves with Beauty Bible readers, but – since this trio can be found on VH – we thought we’d share them with you, too. Here’s what we wrote…

O Wow Brush

You’ve got to be bold to call a product ‘O Wow’, but these guys are spot on: that was our reaction from the moment we first applied foundation using this.

Yes, it looks like a toothbrush – but the results are utterly flawless (and that’s not a phrase we use lightly, NB).

The how-to is like this: squirt/squeeze foundation onto the back of your hand, and pick the product up with the velvet-soft bristles. Then work into skin: the foundation goes on more smoothly than with any foundation brush we’ve ever used, and delivers – hand on heart – an air-brushed finish. You can layer on more foundation but somehow, we find we’re using less – to better result.

No streaks, no blending with a finger: this little baby does the lot, and is just so incredibly easy to use. Frankly, all our other brushes (even the really, really expensive ones) have gone in the bin – though you might want to get more than one, as it also works with blusher (and you want to keep that brush separate).

We have just two words. ‘Oh, wow.’

Dizzolv’It MakeUp Melt Cleansing Balm

We’ll forgive these guys their license with spelling and punctuation (it’s a trademark thing!) because this cleanser’s just so darned great.

Our friend Gill sleuthed it out on one of her Indiana Jones-ish forays to boldly go where no beauty buyer has been before – to mix up a few film metaphors. (Well, Gill is a sort of Princess Leia, Captain Kirk and Indiana, all rolled into one. With a dash of Miss Marple.)

She’s been raving about it ever since – and we can totally see why. Dizzolv’It lives up to its name – truly fantastically make-up-dissolving (and even works its magic on stubborn, waterproof eye make-up).

Now, we’re long-term fans of balm-style cleansers, but for Gill this is a revolution – because she’s so sensitive to essential oils that they’ve landed her in A&E before now. This, however, is based on olive oil and aloe and sugar cane extract (among other ingredients) – but no sensitising aromatherapy ingredients.

And it’s quite melted our hearts, as well as our make-up, actually.

Rainbow S Volumising Brush

Jo is on record as saying this is ‘the most amazing hairbrush I’ve ever used in my entire life’ – and stands absolutely 100% behind that statement. Sad creature that she is, Jo’s stockpiling these to give to friends for Christmas. (Yes, we know it’s only the beginning of 2015 – but she’s that kind of girl.)

Something about the wiggliness of the S-shaped bristles creates ‘air pockets’ in hair, making it just brilliant for reviving a blow-dry that’s gone flat and delivering instant volume without product or heat. It’s very gentle, doesn’t tug – an all-round winner, in other words.

It also happens to be quite the prettiest hairbrush we’ve ever seen, non? And even better: this handbag-sized brush features a mirror on the back (one of those duh-why-didn’t-anyone-think-of-that-before innovations), so you can admire your new-found pouffiness.

So: first these were Gill’s discoveries. Then they became ours. And now, we hope, you’ll discover them, too. Quite a hat-trick, VH!
