When was Aurelia founded and what was your first ever product?

Aurelia launched in January 2013, after 18 months of research, technology development, formulation testing and selecting just the right blends of essential oils. It was an amazing feeling to see the website go live, to see the first orders coming through and to receive such fantastic feedback! I decided to launch Aurelia with a core capsule range of five key products, they complement each other perfectly and form a simple routine designed to improving skin health and tackle the challenges of age prevention.

What is your background?

I worked for nine years for one of the world’s leading global pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare companies, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). As a Marketing Director within GSK’s Global Dermatology Centre of Excellence I took a leading role in launching evidence-based technology into markets whilst identifying and considering the varying needs of different skin types around the world. In all our years of Beauty Bible testing, nothing quite like this has happened before. At the start of our trials, a new brand – we’d only just discovered it ourselves – submitted all five of their debut products for trials for The Ultimate Natural Beauty Bible. We duly dispatched Aurelia Probiotic Skincare’s brand new launches to our diligent teams, and waited – for months, as per our protocol (testers have to use products till the end of the jar/bottle/whatever) – for the results.

But boy, were we blown away at that moment. Because every single one of Aurelia’s entries did well enough to make it into the line-up for the book (out of 2,300 products submitted altogether, which we’re sure you’ll agree is pretty amazing). And not only that: they ratcheted up some staggeringly high scores, including one of the highest-ever in Beauty Bible’s history – for the Cell Revitalise Night Moisturiser. Each of those five products can now proudly display a Beauty Bible ‘Awards’ sticker, as an acknowledgment of a stellar performance, helping beauty-hounds to take a short cut to products which really perform.
