September Newsletter 2013

hair-dressers

Welcome to the September newsletter where we exclusively launch a new product from Lanolips and we also launch new products from Sarah Chapman, This Works (with a treat), Color Wow, Better You and Federici Brands. We have received a lot of feedback from last month’s newsletter, which I will share with you, Shabir takes a look at lower back pain and then offers a natural solution to chronic stomach problems; Superior Joints is back in stock (phew!) after a rather lengthy absence and we will also take a look at some of the products that have been featured in the press.

Additionally I am going to grab Sally Brampton’s hand and jump onto The Podium with her, but before I write about the new product launches, I am going to kick off with a treat, so let’s go:

Fabulous Hair

On last month’s newsletter I wrote about ‘Fabulous Skin’, which I will refer to later in this newsletter because it went completely bonkers and threw up two separate product famines (my biggest nightmare!). Earlier this year we also featured ‘Fabulous Hair’ and again we have been inundated to run this again, so that’s what we are going to do, but this time I’ve added another product, so here it comes:

As I wrote on the March newsletter, I have varying missions and one of them is that I want each of you to be given the opportunity to have fabulous hair and that I wouldn’t rest until the mission was accomplished. We are not just talking hair loss and thinning hair here, although they are of course paramount, but we are also talking about the general health and quality of hair, which is why we recommend using the Phylia hair-care products alongside the supplement, Superior Hair.

In a recent article in The Financial Times, 50 (yes, 50!) different hair-care products were tried and tested and Phylia came joint first. I have to tell you that I nearly fainted with excitement, but I recovered enough to read the entire article, which made my little heart sing because Phylia got the biggest write-up and the most praise.

So, in celebration, I have taken Superior Hair, which we believe is the very best supplement available for hair loss, thinning hair and the general health of your hair, and put it together with Clean and Connect from Phylia. Clean is of course the brilliant shampoo for your scalp and your hair, which helps clear away damaging toxins and encourages cell and keratin renewal; Connect is the hero product of the range, which is a treatment for follicles, scalp and hair. Together they would cost £99, but I’ve had a miniature moment of madness, knocked £19 off (Shabir will probably kill me – who cares!) and this offer will last until midnight on Friday 13 September.

Just to add here, although hair, skin and nails appear to be different, they are all variations of keratin and have similar regenerative processes through a healthy nerve connection, which is optimized by the Phylia signature formula. Good for hair means good for skin and nails too. Kazu Namise (the creator of Phylia de M) and I both spray Connect onto our skin as a rejuvenating toner, but don’t fret, you will not suddenly introduce a hair fibre. Phylia works to restore your DNA potential and maintain its optimum function, not change it! All I will say is spray, spray, spray and I hope you enjoy the Fabulous Hair treat. I will end with the words of Kathleen Baird-Murray, the journalist who wrote The Financial Times article (thank you, thank you Kathleen):

‘After testing the trio of shampoo, conditioner and toner (Connect) myself? Well, you know those really annoying women who fiddle with their hair while they’re talking to you. Yup. That’s now me. Excuse me while I go wash my hair’ – with Phylia, of course!
Fabulous Hair £80 until midnight Friday 13 September 2013 (Superior Hair £26; Clean £28; Connect £45); The Phylia Three Step Kit £103 (Clean, Condition and Connect)

NEW: Banana Balm 3-in-1 by Lanolips

Since we exclusively launched Lanolips in the UK in 2010, the brand has gone from success to success, picking up many awards along the way. The hero product, Lanolips 101, became iconic literally days after we launched it and since that time the range has been extended with amazing products such as Golden Ointment, Herbal Treatment Body Oil, Lemonaid Lip Aid and a range of SPF 15 coloured lip ointments. So let me now introduce you to the latest addition to the range, Banana Balm 3-in-1:

Banana Balm is described by Kirsten Carriol (Lanolips founder) as ‘happiness in a tube’ and it is a 3-in-1 luxuriously creamy lip balm, that combines the Lanolips signature ultra-moisturising, Ultra-Pure Grade lanolin with 100% natural Banana extract and shimmer to create a fabulously creamy lip lustre with a long lasting lip protectant.

Bananas have been used in natural skincare for decades and they are naturally rich in vitamins and minerals (Vitamin E, C, B and A). Enriched with potassium and natural oils, and loaded with antioxidants, Banana is an excellent emollient which helps to promote healthy skin.

Let me tell you that I completely adore this new product and my lips are shimmering away as I’m writing this. We are of course all different, but I love the ‘natural lip’ look and Banana Balm just does that thing for me; my lips look healthy and glowing, it has to be said, but chic and sophisticated at the same time. The fact that it is a lip treatment too, just adds to its magnificence. So, yes, I’m addicted and this is going to be my new Autumn look (actually it may well be a ‘forever’ look!).

Finally, I was intrigued to know the background to Banana Balm, so I threw a load of questions over to Kirsten in Australia; do take the time to read Gill meets Kirsten Carriol, where she talks about her brand, her passion, her hero products, the future and why she chose banana. I hope you enjoy the read and I kind of feel that this is going to become another iconic product in just a few hours as we release the ‘Wait List’. At this moment, Banana Balm is somewhere between Sydney and London and I might throw down a yellow carpet to herald its arrival!
Banana Balm £8.99; Gill meets Kirsten Carriol

NEW: Overnight Body Treatment by Sarah Chapman

Following on from the success of the best-selling Overnight Facial, Sarah Chapman has now created a luxurious body elixir to help target the signs of ageing, which is rather wonderful news for dedicated users of her products. Overnight Facial is renowned for its instant results and it inspired Sarah to create an anti-ageing night-time body treatment, which is a rapidly absorbed dry serum-oil with a silky cashmere texture.

This cutting-edge body treatment is packed with potent anti-ageing cosmeceutical skincare actives and combines lightweight oils such as Argan, Camellia Flower, Baobab, Sacha Inci and vitamins A, C and E with a highly concentrated blend of Matrixyl, which helps lift the skin and plumps lines and wrinkles, Collageneer, which helps improve strength, firmness and elasticity, Juvinity to also help firm the skin and Guarana, which helps aid drainage, thereby stimulating circulation.

Sarah has incorporated her signature aromatic Overnight Facial blend of flower essential oils into this body treatment, which will help comfort and relax you. Just smooth Overnight Body Treatment all over the body every night before bedtime, massaging in upwards strokes to help stimulate drainage and to encourage toxin elimination.

Just to say here that Sarah is meticulous in her research and if you missed last month’s newsletter, you can read all about Sarah’s background and philosophy in an interview I did with her. This brand has integrity, just felt like saying that and the other thing I need to add is that this product will arrive sometime this week, but we are not sure of the day, so we have created another ‘Wait List’ and put it on pre-order. Get on that list!!
Overnight Body Treatment £49 for 120 ml; Overnight Facial £45; Gill meets Sarah Chapman

NEW: Holiday In A Bottle

Now I know that we are headed to Autumn (which is my favourite season of the year), but trust me, I haven’t lost my mind by launching a product with the word ‘holiday’ in its name. This is an ‘all-year-round’ product, which I have been waiting almost a year to launch (with my fingers drumming on my desk) because I love it and use it, and I think you may just do the same thing.

Holiday In A Bottle is a uniquely formulated ‘quick hit of sunshine’ that helps transform pale ‘indoor’ complexions into a healthy, fresh, ‘just been to the beach’ colour. Not a stain, self-tanner or foundation, this product is a new concept from the renowned team of innovators at Federici Brands. This oil-free, paraben-free ‘liquid sunshine’, features micro-pigments that burst on touch, spreading sheer colour evenly over the skin, while warming and enhancing the natural colour of your face.

Available in two shades ‘Sunkissed’, the lighter of the two and ‘Suntanned’, which is a darker shade and is suitable for those who want a bronzed tanned look. Although I have dark hair and an olive skin tone, I use Sunkissed because I personally prefer the under-stated look, but of course the choice is yours.

You need to know that when you squeeze the product out, it is actually grey, but the moment you apply it changes to skin colour on contact. At the moment I am using it straight over the top of my moisturiser, but I have experimented with putting it on top of foundation and I love that look too – healthy, glowing skin, without looking like an oil slick. Another ‘must-have in my bathroom’ product – Shabir, hope you understand that a girl has to do, what a girl has to do (I mean what is he going to do, sack me perhaps!!).
Holiday In A Bottle Sunkissed £28 for 30 ml; Holiday In A Bottle Suntanned £28 for 30 ml

NEW: Miracle Complexion Sponge

Another miracle product, another 3-in-1 product and another product that I really like, in a long line of them. This latest innovation from Real Techniques is a multi-functional facial sponge and has been designed for different application methods and to fit all contours of the face. It has a flat edge for patting and blending product, which is great for under the eye and on the forehead; the large circumference and round shape should be used to cover a larger surface area for an even, flawless application and the precision point should be used to blend contours and to cover imperfections (brilliant!). This is like air-brushing your make-up on, so get on the wait list because I’m not allowed to release these until 1 September. The rebel that resides within wonders what would happen if I released them NOW …. best not to go there!

Miracle Complexion Sponge by Real Techniques £4.99

NEW: MultiVit Oral Spray

Developed in conjunction with healthcare practitioner, Jan de Vries, and based upon research by Cardiff University, the Better You award-winning oral sprays focus delivery on the rich vein system with the mouth. Entering the blood stream immediately, this allows proven and consistent absorption levels, so I am now going to tell you about a new addition to this range.

MultiVit Oral Spray is the UK’s first daily oral spray delivering key vitamins and minerals, which have been formulated for fast and effective absorption. This pioneering formulation delivers convenience with optimal absorption delivering its 14 active ingredients directly into the blood stream.

Each dose (four sprays) contains B12, D3, Folic Acid, Selenium, B1, B2, K1, Biotin, Iodine, B5, B6, A, B3 and C and is recommended for people who can’t swallow capsules or tablets and is also suitable for those on a vegetarian, coeliac and diabetic diet. It is also safe during pregnancy. I don’t know how many of you remember Sour Grape bubble gum (it is probably still around, but I can’t remember the last time I chewed bubble gum – I was probably about 9!), well anyway, it tastes like that. Squirt, squirt!
MultiVit Oral Spray by Better You £9.95 for 160 Sprays (40 day supply)

Three New Products from Color Wow

After launching the first product in the Color Wow range, Root Cover Up, last year, this brand has gone from strength to strength, with praise for Root Cover Up coming from so many of you and the press too. Launching with a real hero product, it can be notoriously difficult to maintain that level of excellence, but Brass Banned Mousse, One Minute Transformation and Pop & Lock Crystallite Shellac were also launched to great acclaim, and now I have three more new products to launch, adding to the collection. Read on:
Root Cover Up (in six shades) £28.50; Brass Banned (in two shades) £16.50; One Minute Transformation £16.50; Pop & Lock Crystallite Shellac £14

Speed Dry Blow-Dry Spray: Alcohol-based styling products and heat exposure are two natural enemies of colour-treated hair, so Speed Dry utilizes an innovative alcohol-free formula to dramatically cut down heat-styling time, helping to keep your colour stronger for longer. Forming a high-gloss, protective clear-coat on the hair, Speed Dry also counteracts porosity, which is common to colour treated hair, helping to keep vital moisture inside the cuticle. You don’t have to have colour treated hair to use this product because it will literally halve the time it takes to blow dry your hair. Tried, tested and fabulous.
Speed Dry Blow-Dry Spray £16.50 for 150 ml

Raise the Root Thicken & Lift Spray: Typical thickening sprays can leave hair rigid and can also dull hair colour. Raise the Root uses lightweight ‘elastimers’ that act as a support system for hair, creating lasting volume, without yellowing or darkening hair. Formulated with a unique thickening resin, this acts as a ‘spring’ around each hair, helping to create volume and an instant lift. This product also contains a UV filter.
Raise the Root Thicken & Lift Spray £16.50 for 150 ml

Get in Shape – 2 in 1 Working Hair Spray: Formulated to create a natural-looking, flexible hold, without build-up or brittleness, Get in Shape helps give hair guts and high gloss. This spray will not dull or darken hair and allows continuous re-styling, if you feel the need!
Get in Shape £16.50 for 150 ml

Three New Products from This Works

So many of you are hardcore This Works fans, which actually doesn’t surprise me at all as this award-winning brand just keeps going from strength to strength and I am now going to tell you about three new product launches, with a treat at the end so read carefully.

Baby Sleep Pillow Spray: After the massive success of Deep Sleep Pillow Spray (it is one of our bestselling products), This Works have now introduced ‘Baby Sleep Pillow Spray’, which is completely divine, whatever your age, although it has been specifically formulated especially for use with children and babies.

Helping to give everybody a good night’s sleep, this safety approved formula helps to soothe baby’s senses without risk of skin irritation. 100% free from parabens, sulphates and phthalates, we can all rest easy as the delicate blend of Lavender, Vertivert and Camomile helps create a soft cocoon of aromatherapy to soothe while sleeping.

Encouraging a good night’s sleep for babies and children is an important skill to help promote early on and this is endorsed by Kathleen McGrath, a children’s nurse and sleep expert. Clever, clever new product from This Works and one that I know is going to make a positive difference to so many babies, children and adults too, of course!
Baby Sleep Pillow Spray £16 for 75 ml; Deep Sleep Pillow Spray £16 for 75 ml

No Wrinkles Midnight Moisture: This is an intensely hydrating cream that helps accelerate the skin’s reparations while you sleep. Midnight Moisture is a mega nourishing and plumping night cream with Hyaluronic Acid (of course!) to help set your skin’s night-time detox in motion.

Persian Silk Tree supports the natural detoxification process and tackles signs of fatigue; Marine collagen helps promote tissue regeneration, improving elasticity for a youthful glow and Retinol helps to boost collagen production and cell renewal for younger looking skin. Going to bed and waking up with perked-up skin is rather high on the agenda!
No Wrinkles Midnight Moisture £46 for 48 ml

No Wrinkles Tired Eyes: Formulated to help defend, hydrate and repair the delicate skin around the eyes, Tired Eyes helps deliver a visible reduction in signs of fatigue. This product helps accelerate night-time recovery when sleep is insufficient and it immediately cools, soothes and refreshes to boost the morning wake-up.

As with Midnight Moisture, Persian Silk Tree helps kick-start your skin’s night-time detox; Manilkara leaf extract helps promote skin elasticity and Retinyl Palmitate helps protect against UV-induced collagen damage and also helps boost cell renewal. Jo Fairley tells me that this is the best eye cream she has EVER used and let me tell you, she has used more than most of us put together!
No Wrinkles Tired Eyes £42 for 15 ml

The Treat: If you regularly read this newsletter, you will know that I am big fan of the entire Deep Sleep range of products, which includes Deep Sleep Bath Soak, Deep Sleep Night Oil, Deep Sleep Dream Cream and of course Deep Sleep Pillow Spray. If you spend £35 (or more) on any of the This Works products, including the new product launches, you will receive a free Deep Sleep Dream Cream worth £18. This will not show through on your invoice, but will arrive (as if by magic) with your order. Only one gift per customer and just to say that we have a limited volume of gifts, so get in there fast before they run out!

Lower Back Pain

Back pain can have a massive impact on lives and most people will suffer from back pain at least once in their lives, with lower back pain being the most common type of pain. The small of the back, known as the lumbar region, undergoes considerable stress when a person lifts or twists and can become sprained easily. Lower back pain, known as lumbago, makes movement painful and often sufferers are unable to work during these episodes.

In this article, Shabir takes a look at the different causes of back pain and writes about Pure Magnesium Oil, Superior Joints and a breakthrough discovery, Wild Oregano Oil C80, which is rapidly gaining popularity as an alternative to antibiotics.
VH Editorial: Lower Back Pain; Pure Magnesium Oil Spray £16 for 236 ml; Superior Joints £29.95 for 60 Capsules; Wild Oregano Oil C80 £38 for 25 ml

A Natural Solution to Chronic Stomach Problems

Gastric distress is another very common health concern and if you suffer from heartburn constantly, belch, have abdominal pain or have a very sensitive stomach, the chances are you may be suffering from gastritis.

Gastritis is the inflammation of the lining of the stomach and there are many causes of gastritis, which include stress, excessive alcohol consumption, prolonged use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), certain auto-immune diseases and sometimes gastritis can develop after a chronic infection. However, one of the most common causes of gastritis is an infection by the organism Helicobacter pylori.

Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium species found in the stomach and it is one of the most common infections in the world. It is estimated that over 50% of the world’s population harbor H pylori in their gut; scientists identified H pylori in 1982 and found that it was present in patients with gastritis and gastric ulcers, conditions that were previously thought to be caused by stress and poor dietary habits.

In this article, Shabir takes an in-depth look at Helicobacter pylori and writes about a remedy approved in Japan as a drug to help treat ulcers. Containing zinc carnosine, it has been found to strengthen the barrier of the cells lining the stomach as well as helping to inhibit the growth of H pylori and its damaging effects; we recommend CarnoSoothe with PicroProtect and you can read all about this groundbreaking supplement too.

The Podium

After we published Sally Brampton’s article on Suicide, as written about on last month’s newsletter, I got literally bombarded with emails and telephone calls about the importance of the feature and how it helped so many of you who were either struggling with suicidal tendencies or were helping to support friends or family.

I have always believed that one of the most important aspects of our work is to make a positive difference in whichever way we can, and so holding Sally’s hand, I need to tell you the following:

We were both immensely touched that so many of you reached out to us and this month I am publishing Sally’s article, Bipolar and Me, which she wrote to mark Bipolar Awareness Day for the website Black Dog Tribe (www.blackdogtribe.com) where anybody affected by mental illness can find great information from experts as well as a very helpful forum where you can exchange stories and find support.

Sally would also like you to know that MIND (www.mind.org.uk), the mental health charity is also brilliant and she is one of the judges of the MIND Media Awards where awards are presented to the best coverage of mood disorders, trying to encourage the media not to sensationalise, but also raise awareness to stop the stigma of mental illness. They also operate another programme called Time to Change, which is fantastic. Check it out at www.time-to-change.org.uk. MIND also run a help line and you can find details on their site.

I think one of the most important aspects of this work is honesty, bravery and courage; Sally does of course have all these attributes and I hope that her article, which talks about depression, touches the people it needs to touch. You may also want to download ‘Shoot the Damn Dog – A Memoir of Depression’ written by Sally and you can do that here: Shoot the Damn Dog – A Memoir of Depression

I daren’t write more otherwise I will dissolve into an emotional mess, but this subject matters hugely to me and more than anything, Sally’s words bring hope. Thank you for reading this.

News and Feedback

The only place I can go after the above, is to give you the latest news and feedback, so with my feet up on my desk (and tears rolling down my face), let’s take a look:

Selexir Peace Balm: ‘I have had adult acne for several years. I’ve had various treatments, including a prescription cream by my GP. When I last saw my GP he said that he thought I would need to privately consult a skin specialist. Then I got Peace Balm. I have been using the balm morning and night for a couple of weeks and I can’t believe the miracle that is happening to my skin. It is so much clearer and I stare in the mirror each morning wondering where the blemishes have gone. If I wasn’t experiencing it, I would never have believed it could make such a difference’.

Note from me: We have received many similar emails, for many different skin conditions. If I printed them all here, this newsletter would go on forever and probably run into the October newsletter! I also need to say that not only is Peace Balm an impeccable and life-changing product, but Selexir are an absolute pleasure to work with. Their integrity, trust and support is outstanding and that really matters to me. Elena Herdieckerhoff, the co-founder of Selexir, has a passion and that passion is reflected in the excellence of her products.
Selexir Peace Balm £39 for 30 ml; Selexir Peace Bath £29 for 300 grams; Selexir Peace Capsules £39 for 90 Capsules

Renouve: ‘I have used practically every hand cream available on the market, but nothing, and I mean nothing, has helped remove my age spots in the same way as Renouve. It took a few weeks of constant use, but this is the only anti-ageing hand product I ever want to use’.
Renouve £22

iS Clinical: ‘I have always loved these products, but I keep being seduced by new ranges. Not any more – I have re-purchased Youth, Hydra Cool and the Youth Eye Complex and I have fallen in love all over again. Please don’t stop ever selling this range, it is truly outstanding high-end skincare that delivers what it promises. I would recommend it to everyone’.

Note from me (again!): All of these products are from the iS Clinical range, the clinical range from Innovative Skincare, which we launched approximately eight years ago, or it could be longer! My love of these products will also never die. For sure they are high-end, but they stand alone in their brilliance as far as my skin is concerned. I have extraordinarily sensitive skin and I am allergic to essential oils, which means that I can’t use (or test) many of the skincare brands we stock. Because the actives are so high, a little goes a very long way and that matters when you are at this level of investment.
Youth Complex £139 for 37 ml; Hydra-Cool Serum £42 for 15 ml; Youth Eye Complex £82 for 15 ml

The Three Step Kit by Phylia: ‘I have to say the results are amazing. My hair feels thicker and longer in only six weeks. I had a bald patch at the front of my head and from using Connect on it each day, it has really sprouted. I now have little baby hair growing in this spot and I cannot tell you how delighted I am with the products.
The Three Step Kit by Phylia £103

Miracle Cleanser: I bought this last week and love, love, love it. Best cleanser I have ever used and I have used a lot.
Miracle Cleanser by Aurelia £34 for 120 ml

Adrenal Stress

I wrote about adrenal stress on last month’s newsletter and I’m not sure that I have ever done this before, but I’m replicating what I wrote on this newsletter. I am doing it for two reasons, because we are already receiving so much feedback about how Magnolia Rhodiola Complex is helping. We always think you should allow at least 28 days for a supplement to really kick in, but many of you are reporting a difference sooner, which is excellent news. Here it is:

Although most of us don’t realize it, many of us suffer from adrenal stress and it remains virtually ‘un-tagged’ as a health concern. Although it is often linked to menopausal symptoms, Adrenal Stress (or Adrenal Fatigue) can also arise during or after acute or chronic infections and as the name suggests, its paramount symptom is fatigue that is not relieved by sleep.

This syndrome has been known by many other names throughout the past century, such as non-Addison’s hypoadrenia, sub-clinical hypoadrenia, adrenal apathy and adrenal exhaustion. If you feel tired all the time, sweat excessively or wake up and cannot get back to sleep, you may be suffering from adrenal stress. Other symptoms include a craving for sweet and salty snacks (eeeek, that’s me!) and feeling generally run-down and overwhelmed.

The adrenal glands sit atop the kidneys and pump out the hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol, which help keep you on your feet throughout the day. At times of stress, whether physical, hormonal or environmental, these glands can no longer secrete normal levels of any of these hormones and often over-secrete cortisol. Mood swings, symptoms of stress and anxiety, sleep disturbances, emotional stress and lower immunity are just some of the concerns associated with higher than normal levels of cortisol, so this is not a hormone you want circulating in abundance.

Reducing stress levels is of course paramount and we recommend Magnolia Rhodiola Complex, our bestselling supplement for helping to relieve the symptoms of anxiety and stress. Magnolia extracts have been shown to physically relax muscles and nerves as well as helping to reduce the levels of stress hormones in the body, which is of course key in helping to combat adrenal stress.
VH Editorial: How to Combat Stress Effectively; Magnolia Rhodiola Complex £26 for 60 Capsules

Fabulous Skin

Also on last month’s newsletter, I wrote about ‘Fabulous Skin’ and the volume of response practically shocked the living daylights out of me, reach such epic proportions, I started to worry about the stability of our website. Although the offer is now over, I just need to say that the first thing that happened is that we ran out of Astaxanthin, which thankfully came back into stock pretty quickly and then, horror upon horror we ran out of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), when we thought we had more than enough stock for another month.

Any day now we will hopefully receive our ‘emergency’ consignment of HA from America and all outstanding orders will be fulfilled as a matter of priority. So huge apologies from me, we have had HA famines before and they are not cute; the only thing that stopped me from stressing about the lack of HA was an email I received, which made me laugh. Girl after my own heart, this from a customer: ‘I have now completely run out and am scared my face will fall off!!’. I’ve got to tell you, that I’ve run out too and was thinking of hiring some face scaffolding because one of my biggest fears is that my face will slide south! Anyway, bottom line, I’m sorry.

In The Press

With my heartfelt thanks to the journalists who continually support us, here are some recent products that have featured in the press:

Mega Probiotic ND – As seen in YOU magazine

‘Here’s a paean to probiotics, the ‘good’ bugs in your gut. I had a really uncomfortable bloated tummy for a few days, probably due to a bit too much sugar, but taking the recommended two capsules of Mega Probiotic ND after breakfast solved the problem almost immediately, so I’ve now gone back to taking this useful supplement daily.’
Mega Probiotic ND £18.50 for 60 Capsules

Billion Dollar Brow Boost – As seen in The Sunday Times Style Magazine

‘There’s a new trend for eyebrow transplants, partly because of over-plucking, but for other reasons too. Due to thyroid illness, I lost half of mine – which is pretty confidence-busting – so I’ve been trying Billion Dollar Brow Boost to help stimulate growth. Obviously there is no such thing as an overnight miracle, but a few months later, I am beginning to see results.’
Billion Dollar Brow Boost £25

Treat: The first 50 customers to order Billion Dollar Brow Boost, will receive the Universal Brow Pencil (worth £17) absolutely free. Formulated to work with all skin tones and hair colours, this amazing pencil goes on smooth and natural. Perfect for creating beautiful, natural brows whether you are blonde or brunette, this mechanical pencil always stays sharp and does not require a pencil sharpener. This will not appear on your invoice, but will be included with your order.
Universal Brow Pencil £17

Find Your Stress Profile – As seen in Woman & Home

‘Energy Draining Anxiety: Give yourself a boost with good old ginseng, paired with B vitamins to ease stress and give you a lift. Try Daily Energy, which also has herbs to help regulate sugar levels and kill the afternoon slump.
Daily Energy £25 for 60 Capsules

Brain Racing Pressure: Handling manic days, but not the floor-walking nights? Go for Magnolia Rhodiola Complex, which helps relax nerves and reduce the stress hormone cortisol.’
Magnolia Rhodiola Complex £26 for 60 Capsules

Milk Thistle Liver Cleanse – As seen in The Saturday Times Magazine

‘If you find yourself accidentally over-indulging on the wine (and, let’s face it, we’ve all done it) a course of milk thistle before, during and after your holiday will have you waking up as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as a toddler. I absolutely swear by this stuff’.
Milk Thistle Liver Cleanse £23.50 for 60 Tablets (and you don’t need to be on holiday to benefit!)

I have already written about some of the editorial features this month, but additionally Jo Fairley writes about Coffee, Catherine Turner examines Pro-Ageing and the Beauty Bible girls discuss Age and Sun Spots. Check them out on the front of our site.

The End Bit

Chlorophyll is trending heavily again and the benefits are being written about all over the press. Check out Shabir’s article to read all about it. I add a few drops of Chlorophyll into my daily ‘must-have’ dose of Fulphyl, just in case you were interested!
VH Editorial: Go Super Green with Chlorophyll; Ultra Concentrated Liquid Chlorophyll £25 (two months’ supply)

Following the theme, do take a look at Complexion Cocktail with a shot of Chlorophyll. This new skin product helps counter the effects of toxins on the skin, whether from external or internal source and helps leave the skin soothed, calmed, clearer, smoother and healthier. Please don’t drink this, it should be massaged into dry skin, morning and evening.
Complexion Cocktail with a shot of Chlorophyll £24

Whilst many of us take Power of Krill, we would recommend Cleanmarine Krill Oil for children up to the age of 12. Each capsule is packed with a potent form of Omega 3 known as ‘phospholipids’, which have been shown to be highly effective, even when taking lower levels, compared to fish oils. Great product.
Cleanmarine Krill Oil for Kids £9.99 for 60 Capsules; Power of Krill £24.95 for 60 Softgels

A new limited edition set of three make-up brushes from Real Techniques has just been launched. I love these brushes and the set includes a duo-fiber face brush for lightweight application; a duo-fiber contour brush for controlled contouring and sculpting and a duo-fiber eye brush for adding the finishing touches to eye make-up. Duo-fiber bristles work with cream, liquid or powder and give a brilliant air-brushed finish. Just to say that this range comes from America, so ‘fibre’ becomes ‘fiber’ and these brushes have a massive following, so get this limited edition whilst you can.
Real Techniques Duo Fiber Collection – Limited Edition £23.99

A reminder, The Sage Complex Treat, finishes at midnight on Saturday 31 August. Just saying!

We have come to the end of another newsletter, so together with Shabir and the VH team, I want to thank you for your continued support and loyalty.

I hope you have a fabulous September.
