October Newsletter 2013

glamour-autumn

Welcome to the October newsletter where we have some pretty spectacular new product launches (how I love a launch!), we list an established and highly acclaimed skincare brand onto our site and we take a look at the products that have just won awards in the Harper’s Bazaar Hot 100 (nine of them!). We have two treats for you and a few other gifts spread throughout the newsletter, so you will need to read this carefully. Additionally we have all the latest news and feedback, Shabir writes about healthy gums and I jump onto The Podium for a moment or two. We also announce the death of a supplement (yes another one bites the dust), so without any more preamble from me, let’s go:

The Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Treat

I kind of felt pretty guilty after we experienced the recent HA famine; HA is our bestselling supplement, it is high strength, giving the correct therapeutic dose, and heaven help our skin and joints if we don’t take it is what I say! During the famine, we got inundated with emails wanting to know why we were out of stock and near-panic set in with many of you. Shabir and I believe it is the most crucial of all anti-ageing supplements, so read on:

As ever, I have to take responsibility when we run out of stock and although I could write an entire dissertation on the life and times of supplement manufacturers, I’ll save myself the bother and turn a past negative into a future positive. With my sharing gene optimized, we have a ‘limited edition’ of HA available for you, but I will just pre-empt by saying that I don’t know how long this offer will last, once they are gone, they are gone and I can’t magic any more onto our shelves.

So, here it is: If you order HA right now, you will receive an extra ten capsules free. This means that you get ten extra days of anti-ageing fabulousness on us and it is worth just under £12. I’m hoping that we have enough to see us through October, but don’t count on it because I know what can happen whenever we do something like this. I do of course realize that if you are new to VH you may not be up to speed on HA, so if that is you, perhaps you would like to take the time to read Shabir’s article on HA. For the rest of us, let’s hold hands and say glory hallelujah for treats and anti-ageing solutions. That’s it!

New: Dermasuri: No More Daily Buffing: The Once-A-Fortnight Secret to Soft Skin

When Kazu Namise (creator of Phylia) told me about the Dermasuri on a long, long Skype call (our average calls are about two hours in case you need to know!), I wanted to test the product right in the moment, but of course I had to wait for it to arrive from America. I knew I would love the Dermasuri because Kazu was going crazy for it. It duly arrived and trust me, seeing – and feeling – is believing. The unique fabric of this easy-to-use mitt literally grabs and sloughs away flaky dead cells from the skin’s surface, and rolls it off.

You may actually have an ‘eewww’ moment as you first see dead skin rolling off, but the results are truly extraordinary. Only the cells that are ready to be removed are buffed away by the Dermasuri to reveal fresh, young, healthier skin underneath. That skin is then perfectly primed to absorb the oils, butters or age-defying body serums that you apply afterwards.

The Dermasuri also helps to reduce ingrown hairs, bumps and clogged pores, helps poor circulation, can even out skin tone and banishes dullness. I think it is the ultimate instant ‘at-home’ microdermabrasion treatment and the amount of exfoliation depends on your skin type; some may exfoliate microscopically, whereas others will visibly see dead skin roll away (sadly, that excites me!). ‘Derma’ as we know, means skin and ‘Suri’ means scrub in Japanese.

In Japan and Korea, many people enjoy ‘Akasuri’ treatments, first bathing and then sloughing off any remaining dirt, bacteria and dead skin with an abrasive (aka Dermasuri). Akasuri is also said to help combat low blood pressure and sluggish circulation and it works on the spiritual level too. This ritual treatment is seen as a purification process, representing the spiritual experience of washing the soul.

I wrote some of the above on a recent Addicts Bulletin and within moments of its release, the Dermasuri started to fly out the door and halfway through the day I had to put in an SOS order because we had virtually sold out. Within the shortest space of time this has become an obsession and a cult product all rolled into one! I am completely over-excited to share this with you and big hugs to Kazu for being my spy in LA!

New: Save The Blow Dry

The name alone would have sold this product to me and this clever new product calls itself the ‘moisture eliminating QUEEN of shower hats’, which made me smile a lot. The gist behind this is that as we emerge from our daily shower or bath, our hair bears no resemblance to the hair we had a few minutes before. It is said that some of us can spend over two hours a week blow drying and styling our hair and the solution was to create a unique shower cap that does what it says – Saves The Blow Dry! Its secret is the combination of a whacky, waterproof design with an internal layer of super-absorbent micro-weave towelling, which zaps humidity and condensation, bathroom-proofing hair to leave it dry and bouncy.

It has a dual purpose; by turning the hat inside out (so the towelling doesn’t get wet and revolting), you can put it over your favourite hair treatment (Condition by Phylia for me!) allowing it to work on hair more effectively. If all this sounds off the wall, I can assure you it isn’t; put to the test on the thickest mane of hair, it stood up to some rigorous testing by an ultra-critical tester. That tester was Sarah Stacey (Health Editor of YOU magazine and co-author of Beauty Bible), she calls it ‘quite extraordinary’ and the feedback we are receiving is that this is a rather genius innovation. So with wilting hair a thing of the past, you may also like to know that each Save The Blow Dry sold, helps fund a fortnight’s supply of safe drinking water for a family in the desert region of Khandel, India.

New: Cell Revitalise Rose Mask & Eye Revitalising Duo from Aurelia Probiotic Skincare

Let me start this section by saying two things; the first is that the feedback we are receiving on Miracle Cleanser, Revitalise & Glow Serum and the Cell Revitalise Night Moisturiser, is absolutely phenomenal. I’ve lost count of the number of phone calls and emails we have received, with many of you saying that Miracle Cleanser is the most awesome cleanser you have ever used and those using a few products from the range have reported that their skin is showing a brightness and glow never seen before. That, I like!
Miracle Cleanser £34.00 for 120 ml

The second thing is that we are about to launch two new products from the range, but please read the next bit carefully. These products are currently on pre-order and will not become available until halfway through October, give or take a few days. You can of course get onto the ‘wait list’ and the first 30 people who get themselves onto the wait list for each of the products will receive a rather gorgeous gift from Aurelia, as outlined below.

Cell Revitalise Rose Mask: This rather indulgent and soothing rose mask delivers botanicals and probiotics to the skin, helping to reduce inflammation and restoring balance. Damask Rose Absolute produces an amazing floral note to the blend, which works wonderfully to hydrate and soothe dull and dehydrated skin. Inspired by ancient Ayurveda restorative therapies, this rich treatment mask will help relax, calm and detoxify and put to the test, the results came back declaring big love for the amazing scent and that it left the skin looking smooth and dewy. You can use this mask up to three times a week, which may become a rather expensive habit, but perhaps you could use it just once a week and sniff it for the other six days!

The Treat: The first 30 people to get on the wait list for Cell Revitalise Rose Mask will automatically receive a 5ml Cell Repair Oil bottle and two bamboo muslins wrapped with pink ribbon. Only one per customer and you can use the muslins to remove the mask (or clean the sink!). Sorry, couldn’t help writing that – Aurelia will probably ex-communicate me now!
Cell Revitalise Rose Mask £65 for 60 ml

Eye Revitalising Duo: I often hesitate before I write about expensive products and I have a little question and answer session with myself as to whether a product is actually worth it and then I interrogate the brand, check out the ingredients (well Shabir does that bit!), look at the level of actives, get it tested and then make a decision. Very few products, in the scheme of things, pass the acid test, but the Eye Revitalising Duo did.

Aurelia created the Eye Revitalising Duo as a response to the many requests from customers for an eye product that helped reduce dark circles, wrinkles and puffiness. Undertaking extensive research to find the best and most effective botanicals and actives to address these concerns head-on, they subsequently designed a morning and evening combination, working in synergy to offer a solution to revolutionise the eye area.

Revitalise & Brighten Eye Dew is a refreshing wrinkle reduction for tired eyes. The cooling rollerball application provides a gentle lymphatic massage ensuring the blend of actives and botanicals absorb to help brighten and firm the delicate eye area. High levels of Aurelia’s signature probiotic, peptide and repair technologies will help reduce inflammation and dark circles. Containing Jujube and Olive extract, Aurelia claim that their unique eye complex has been scientifically proven to result in an age correction improvement of five years in 28 days of daily use, which sounds good to me and our testers went a bit wild for it. Do so love a rollerball.

Illuminate & Smooth Puff Reduction Eye Cream: This light cream should be used every night and is packed with supercharged levels of Aurelia’s probiotic and repair technologies. Infused with arnica, centella asiatica and butcher’s broom, it works to help reduce inflammation, wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles, whilst promoting extreme luminosity. Our testers were all on the same page with this one too – two words – ‘completely fabulous’.

The Treat: The first 30 people to get on the wait list for the Eye Revitalising Duo will automatically receive a 5 ml Cell Repair Oil bottle and a 5 ml Revitalise and Glow Serum bottle. Again, only one per customer, but this will allow you to try out the oil and the serum and just in case you are interested, I’m predicting great things for Aurelia over the next couple of years. Kill me if I’m wrong!
Eye Revitalising Duo £90 (including Revitalise & Brighten Eye Dew and Illuminate & Smooth Puff Reduction Eye Cream)

Harper’s Bazaar Hot 100 Awards

As you may have noticed from the big red banner on the front of our site, nine of our products have just won much coveted awards in the prestigious Harper’s Bazaar Hot 100. I was jumping up and down with excitement when I discovered that the ‘Best Health & Beauty Supplement’ award went to Fulphyl by Phylia, which is no mean feat when there are literally millions of supplements on the market.

Sophie Forte, Beauty Director of Harper’s Bazaar, told me that ‘Fulphyl is THE supplement that the health industry is most excited about going forward and that it is the one supplement that everyone should be taking NOW’. Continuing, she states that ‘Fulphyl is as essential as water!’ The capital letters were Sophie’s, not mine, and her comments have been included with her permission, so thank you Sophie and thank you Harper’s Bazaar. Wow, what a journey for Phylia, Kazu Namise the creator and founder of Phylia de M and Dr Miyayama, whose lifelong work has been recognised in such a significant way.
Fulphyl by Phylia de M £160 for 360 ml; VH Editorial: Fulvic Acid – The Elixir of Life

Other award winners include the immaculate Peace Balm by Selexir, Lanolips Lip Ointment with Colour, Root Cover Up by Color Wow, Sarah Chapman’s Overnight Hand and Nail Treatment and Deep Sleep Night Oil by This Works. Congratulations to all the brands, many of which are of course multi-award-winning. I love the fact that most of our winners are small niche brands that have been recognised amongst the giants. That matters to me – a lot.

Dr Hauschka

I think most people will have heard of Dr Hauschka, the creation of medical chemist, Dr Rudolf Hauschka and Elisabeth Sigmund, a cosmetologist. In the early 1960s they set about creating a skincare range that worked on a unique proposition: rather than simply surface-treating the uppermost layers of the skin, their approach considered the skin, the body’s largest organ, as a whole, supporting its every need on every level.

The range was launched in 1967 and Dr Hauschka is famous around the world for being the original natural skincare brand. Right back in the early days of VH I wanted to list Dr Hauschka, but we were living in a different era and online stores were often overlooked, so when I received an email asking us if we would like to work together with Dr Hauschka, my answer was an immediate ‘yes’ because I know that many of you are Hauschka fans.

So let’s take a look at some of the products and with such an extensive range, I am just going to hand-pick a few products, most of which feature in their ‘Hero Products’ collection. Just to say that there is a treat at the end, so please read carefully:

Rose Day Cream: This multi-award winning product is a skincare classic and is the bestselling product in the Dr Hauschka range. Rose Day Cream captures the strength and softness of the rose to nourish and protect normal, dry and sensitive skin. Especially beneficial for skin prone to redness and irritation, in the winter months Rose Day Cream provides excellent protection against the cold. It has been crowned the ‘People’s Hero’ for two consecutive years by Dr Hauschka consumers and it contains the extract of over 1075 organic rose petals in each tube. I wonder who counts them!
Rose Day Cream by Dr Hauschka £28 for 30 ml

Moor Lavender Calming Bath Essence: Dr Hauschka bath products are renowned for their efficacy and the balanced, comforting composition of this bath essence features extracts of horse chestnut and horsetail with healing moor extract. Almond and avocado oils provide additional moisture to your skin and this has been specifically formulated to help encourage a deeply relaxing night’s sleep.
Moor Lavender Calming Bath Essence £16 for 100 ml

Translucent Bronze Concentrate: When I was told that Translucent Bronze Concentrate was right up there in the all-time bestsellers, I thought I had better tell you about it. It can be used alone or you can mix it with a moisturiser, but whichever way you choose, this liquid mineral tint offers a sun-kissed glow while gently blending and softening the appearance of blemishes and imperfections. It is suitable for all skin types and you can also add it to a body moisturiser for a temporary fake tan effect, if you feel the need!
Translucent Bronze Concentrate £28 for 30 ml

Neem Nail Oil Pen: Formulated to help strengthen and protect, the Neem Nail Oil Pen helps keep your nails in the best possible condition at all times. Nails can benefit from a mini-manicure treatment whenever you have a few moments to spare and when pressed gently, the fibre applicator releases just the right amount of Neem Nail Oil. Neem leaf extract helps strengthen keratin, fortifying nails against breakage; apricot kernel oil penetrates and moisturizes the nails and extracts of chamomile and anthyllis soften and renew cuticles. Clever little pen and it comes with three spare tips.
Neem Nail Oil Pen £16

The Treat: To celebrate the launch of Dr Hauschka, we have 75 Limited Edition Rose Body Oils (30 ml) to give away. Rose Body Oil, with extracts of damask roses and rose essential oil soothes, calms and protects sensitive skin. The first 75 people to order any product from the Dr Hauschka range will automatically receive a free Rose Body Oil. Only one per customer and once they are gone, they are gone!

The Daily Immunity Treat

I think I had better check my temperature/sanity because I have another treat for you and this time it’s all about supporting our immune system as we tip straight into the colder months. We have always maintained that everybody should start taking supplementation to help ward off colds, bugs and flu from the first day of autumn to the first day of spring and we recommend Daily Immunity.

Daily Immunity is a comprehensive multi-purpose formula to help prime the immune system and help protect the body from all types of infections. It can also be used for the treatment of infections to help shorten their duration. High stress levels, lack of sleep, nutritional deficiencies and other factors all play a role in compromising the immune system and this supplement is loaded with astragalus, oregano, elderberry, garlic, maitake and shitake mushroom extracts and vitamins C, D3 and zinc.

It is also key to take a good probiotic every day and although this formulation contains probiotics, we like to ramp it up because probiotics are absolutely essential for the immunity of the gut and the body. Mega Probiotic ND (non-diary) is another one of our bestselling supplements; personally I would not like to go a day without taking Mega Probiotic as it is one of my ‘absolutely must-take’ supplements. So read on:

The Treat: If you buy Daily Immunity then we will throw in a travel size pot of Mega-Probiotic ND (30 capsules worth £9.25) to kick-start your immunity regimen. Again, only one gift per customer and this will automatically be included in your order. If you have never taken Mega Probiotic before, you also need to know that it is brilliant for bloating issues too. So that’s a wrap and do read Shabir’s article for a further insight to immunity.

The Death of a Supplement

Shabir has gone into mourning because one of his all-time favourite supplements has gone; died, buried and never to be seen again. That supplement is (or was) All Natural Perfectly Balanced, a multi-vitamin that we have recommended since the beginning of time and that so many of you take. There is no sinister reason behind this, just the sad fact that the manufacturers were not able to continue trading in such a competitive and aggressive market, which always hits us hard as supporting niche brands is paramount to us.

There are many times when I have written about a ‘next-generation’ supplement and I am going to do the same here, so if you were taking All Natural Perfectly Balanced, here is its replacement and if you don’t take a multi-vitamin, perhaps you should think about it because this product has been thoroughly researched by Shabir, it has just been released and he has started taking it, which speaks volumes!

Alive Once Daily Multi-Vitamin Ultra Potency (yes, that’s the name of the product, so let’s just call it ‘Alive’ from now on) is a whole food energizer featuring 26 fruits and vegetables, green foods, mushrooms, enzymes, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. This formula delivers essential vitamins and minerals that help support bones, the colon, energy, eyes and the heart. You only need to take one a day, which makes life easier and it’s what we call a ‘full-on’ supplement.

Preventing and Treating Gum Disease

You may be surprised to learn that gum disease is currently the most common disease, affecting between 50-80% of all adults. What is even more startling is that this research points to the link that poor oral hygiene, leading to gum disease, may also contribute to other health concerns such as heart disease, diabetes and arthritis.

In order to tackle gum disease, it is important to understand how it develops and the contributory factors that lead to it. Gum disease begins with the formation of plaque, an invisible sticky film that covers the teeth and is formed when starches and sugars from food interact with the bacteria in the mouth.

Although most of the plaque is removed whilst brushing, if any of it is not removed then it begins to harden up under the gum line and forms into tartar. Tartar is the white substance that attracts bacteria and makes plaque even more difficult to brush away. Tartar also bonds to the teeth and should only be removed by having your teeth cleaned professionally by a hygienist or dentist.

In this far-reaching investigation, Shabir takes a look at understanding gum disease, causal factors linked to gum disease and the natural remedies that may help protect against gum disease.

The Podium

Let me start by saying that we have rolled out a new version of our site, which you may or may not have noticed! The first thing is that we have made it more user friendly and most of the changes are on the backend with a new check-out, a new search and some other things that I don’t really understand, but they are there!

The Editorial section has changed also, which I hope is easier to navigate as we have integrated it further into the main thrust of the site. The thing to say here is that we have a new sector called ‘The Collective’, which is where we will be publishing curated stories from around the world. If all goes according to plan (sometimes it doesn’t!), this will be a place of discovery, adventure, thoughts and inspiration that we want to share with you.

The important thing to say here is that we will randomly publish articles, so do take a look because we will publish often, not monthly in line with most of our editorial features. Just also to say that I couldn’t help myself, I stole Kazu’s article on her Piggy Soaps, for varying reasons, but mostly because I think they are so cute and because they are loaded with Fulphyl (did I tell you it won an award!!!!).
The CollectivePiggy Soap £35 for six soaps

Finally, after giving myself a great big slap for being lazy, we have reinstated ‘In the Press’, where you can go and see some of our press articles. Separately to that, Sarah Stacey’s Health column in YOU magazine is replicated each week both on the front of our site and under ‘Health’ in the editorial section.
In The Press; Health

So, we now begin the next phase (trust me, it never ends!), so if you have any requests or have suggestions for improvement, please let me know. Do so love a bit of hand-holding.

Salty Taste in the Mouth

Following on from talking about gum disease, many people report annoying experiences of a salty taste in the mouth, regardless of how often they brush their teeth. There are several possible reasons for this, including dehydration, eating spicy foods and consuming alcohol. The saliva that you produce may change due to the amount of liquids consumed and if you drink large volumes of tea, coffee or carbonated drinks, your body may not be retaining sufficient fluids, leading to dehydration.

However, many people can have a salty taste in the mouth from post-nasal drip. We produce between one and two litres of mucus from our nose and sinuses, which passes into the throat and is swallowed daily. This mucus is part of the protective system and cleans the air we breathe of bacteria, viruses, fungi, air spores, pollutants and chemicals.

We all have post-nasal drip, but most of us don’t even realise this occurs. However, whether there is an allergy, infection or inflammation in the body, this mucus changes in consistency and pH and this is when we begin to notice post-nasal drip. It is a factor that the salty taste sensation is noticed because the salty mucus coats the taste buds.

A good remedy to help calm the inflamed membranes in the respiratory tract is Plantago Tincture. Plantago is commonly employed to treat sinusitis, catarrh, glue ear, ear-ache, recurring ear infections and it may also benefit those suffering from tinnitus. Plantago is a rich source of silica, zinc and potassium. It is the quenching of inflammation in the nasal passages and sinuses that will help to alleviate this salty sensation and Plantago Tincture is completely safe for long-term use.

News and Feedback

This month we have had some exceptional feedback from you; obviously I can’t include every single email we received otherwise this newsletter will run forever and none of us will have a life! So here we go with a few comments from me thrown in along the way, because I can’t help myself:

Banana Balm: Before anything, I wrote about ‘natural lip’ look on the September newsletter and how I had decided that it was going to be my new Autumn (or ‘forever’) look. I’m absolutely not changing my mind on that, but I decided to take it one step further for more dramatic occasions (like walking round the supermarket). So here’s another trick, take a nude coloured lip liner (I use Spice by MAC in case you are interested), line your lips and then fill them in with the pencil colour; take a lip brush and gloss them with Banana Balm.
About 79 people have so far asked what I’ve done to my lips (in a good way), they look even more full-on, but still have that healthy glow while receiving a whole load of TLC as this is a treatment product. Onto the feedback:

‘I love, love, love my Banana Balm. I love the smell, the consistency and the oh so subtle shimmer. It conditions my dry lips beautifully. I’ve taken to wearing it day and night, so I can look pretty in my sleep!’
Banana Balm by Lanolips £8.99

Overnight Body Treatment: Also launched on last month’s newsletter, Sarah Chapman’s Overnight Body Treatment; again lots of feedback including this:

‘The Sarah Chapman Overnight Body Treatment is DIVINE!! Oh my goodness, that scent … and super soft skin in the morning. My dodgy thyroid means I am a crocodile, so I am so very grateful to find something so wonderful’. Note from me: Rather fabulous to slather on after you have used The Dermasuri – just saying!
Overnight Body Treatment by Sarah Chapman £49 for 120 ml; The Dermasuri £19.95

Re-Connect: Straight in: ‘I want to share my love for Re-Connect. I’ve been using Phylia for about a year now and loving the results. Re-Connect, however, has taken things to a whole new level. I’ve always had thin hair, especially on the top and sides of my head, and after each pregnancy I was losing so much hair that I noticed more and more white scalp showing through my dark brown hair. It was depressing and I felt so helpless to do anything about it. Then I tried Phylia and was amazed at the results. Now, after using Re-Connect for about three months, guess what – I can hardly see any scalp through my hair anymore because I have so much hair. Whoopee! What a boost to my self-confidence. My hair is lush and fully and swishy!’
Re-Connect by Phylia £60 for 120 ml

This Works

Renowned for their efficacy, This Works products are highly acclaimed in the press and their Deep Sleep Night Oil has also won an award in the Harper’s Bazaar Hot 100 awards for being the ‘Best Sleep Secret’. Their Deep Sleep range is amongst our bestselling products and Deep Sleep Pillow Spray heads that list.

In a study just released, 217 healthy male and female subjects with sleep problems were chosen to assess the performance of Deep Sleep Pillow Spray versus a placebo. Deep Sleep Pillow Spray performed statistically better than the placebo, validating various claims, but essentially the bottom line showed that 83% fell asleep faster after using Deep Sleep Pillow Spray, 78% felt they had a deeper sleep and 85% felt less anxious about trying to get to sleep after using the spray.

Sleep is a massive issue for so many of us and so when a range like this comes along it is little wonder that the products are so popular, basically because they do work and they do help. Adjunct to using topical products to help induce sleep, do take time to read Shabir’s article on sleep where he recommends Sleep Tight, our bestselling supplement for sleep issues and Magnesium Gel, which is brilliant for relaxing muscles and gets absorbed transdermally through the skin into the bloodstream, where it facilitates sleep through chemical pathways in the brain. Here comes a sleep regimen:

Have a warm bath just before you go to bed; squirt Magnesium Gel into the bath (one squirt is enough), add Deep Sleep Bath Soak, or your favourite bath treat into the bath, soak for about 15 minutes and then either use Deep Sleep Night Oil on your body, or try the fabulous Deep Sleep Dream Cream, which should win an award for the name alone!
VH Editorial: Are You Getting Sufficient SleepSleep Tight £25 for 60 Capsules; Deep Sleep Pillow Spray £16; Deep Sleep Night Oil £25; Deep Sleep Bath Soak £22; Deep Sleep Dream Cream £18; Magnesium Gel £20 for 473 ml (lasts absolutely ages!)

Phylia Update

A few things to say here, but I am beginning with a great big thank you to India Knight who recently wrote a feature article on the Phylia Hair Care range in the Sunday Times Style magazine. If you missed it, you can read it here, but as a result of the feature, we received such an avalanche of orders, I thought our website might fall down – luckily it didn’t! Although we carry extraordinarily high levels of stock, it was completely wiped out by about 9 am on the Sunday and so I apologise if you had to wait for your Phylia order.

The second thing I want to say is that we have had many phone calls and emails about using other products alongside Phylia. Our general recommendation is please don’t. It is our belief that many products on the market, most especially styling products, will actually block the hair follicle, making it difficult for the Phylia products to work at their optimum.

Up until I started to use Phylia, I used various styling products to add volume and I thought I could never give them up, but I did and today my hair is fuller than it has ever been. A friend who has always had very, very fine hair, read the article in Style and sent me the following: ‘I think I was as excited as you when I saw India’s write up. It really is such incredible stuff. I even like my hair now – after 58 years, so the more people who know about it, the better’.

Finally, you can of course buy each of the Phylia products individually, but to make life easier, if you feel the need, you can one click your way to hair happiness by buying the Three Step Kit, The Four Step Kit (includes Re-Connect) or go for the whole shebang with Phylia de M – Complete, which includes all things Phylia.
Three Step Kit £103; Four Step Kit £163; Phylia de M Complete £323

VH Editorial

This month the Beauty Bible girls look at the treatments they love, so do take time to discover the five they have chosen; Sally Brampton writes about her injured foot and as ever she takes a rather brilliant pragmatic approach to life; Catherine Turner reports on keeping perfectly balanced and Jo Fairley declares the start of ‘Apple Month’. I hope you enjoy the articles.

The End Bit

I’m going to finish up by telling you about three more new products, although many of you have already discovered these through the ‘What’s New’ section of our site:

Autumn Facial Oil: The latest oil by the super-talented Annee de Mamiel; within this new blend Annee has incorporated a selection of essential oils, including Jasmine Sambac, to inspire optimism and confidence, Geranium Bourbon to help balance and harmonise, Honeysuckle to promote vitality and act as an anti-inflammatory, Sandalwood to revive and rejuvenate and Patchouli to ground the emotions. For more on this, read the article!
VH Editorial: Autumn by Annee de Mamielde Mamiel Autumn Facial Oil £60 for 20 ml

Take Back Your Brows Kit by Billion Dollar Brows: If you care about your eyebrows, then this kit includes the essential tools to shape and style your brows. Containing their patented Brow Buddy Tool, which will show you where to start, arch and end your brows with precision and ease, the Brow Buddy makes shaping and styling your brows incredibly fast and sample. It also includes the Universal Brow Pencil (which I love incidentally), which is a self-sharpening pencil, natural for all hair colours and skin tones; a pair of tweezers and eyebrow scissors, perfect to trimming those pesky brow hairs. The price of this kit is £39, but it has a retail value of £60, so that means that you save £21. Hurrah!!!
Take Back Your Brows Kit by Billion Dollar Brows £39

Silver Serum: The revolutionary new Silver Serum has been specifically formulated to help treat acne, rosacea and inflamed skin. This is apparently the first ‘smart’ anti-bacterial skin treatment and it contains a special silver ingredient that kills the bad bacteria, while helping good skin bacteria.

Healthy skin needs good skin flora to stay healthy and strong, however skin conditions get worse when they are covered in bad bacteria. Silver Serum helps reduce bacteria related infection and inflammation of skin conditions such as acne and acne rosacea. Silver Serum contains MicroSilver, which has been found in scientific studies to help reduce bacterial related problems for skin conditions by up to 70% after a two week trial period and it stays active on the skin for up to eight hours. Use in conjunction with Clarify Blemish Formula and you have the inside/out approach to helping compromised skin conditions.
Silver Serum £12.95 for 50 ml; Clarify Blemish Formula £25 for 90 Capsules

So we come to the end of another newsletter and together with Shabir, I say a huge thank you to each of you for your continued support and loyalty. There really is nothing like a VH customer and I think I say that about 500 times a month – at least!

I hope you all have a fabulous October.

With love
