Welcome to the November newsletter where I am just about standing up straight after the shock (good shock!) of discovering a skincare brand that I have become totally obsessed with. We also take a look at some new product launches, there are some treats throughout the newsletter and I will be writing about gifts for Christmas, although quite honestly I can’t believe it is that time of year again – I’m not sure what has happened to this year, but it’s nearly gone! Additionally I write about the launch of the new Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible, I will be reporting on all the latest news and feedback and Shabir discovers an amazing product that is akin to having colonic irrigation. He hasn’t stopped talking about it and I haven’t stopped screeching about Julisis, so let’s go and we all know where I am going to start.
The story begins with an email I received:
‘Your site was recently recommended and I was impressed about the selection of supplements and hard-to-find products; nevertheless, as a beauty junkie, having tried mostly everything on the market, I am missing my favourite brand, Julisis, the most efficient organic high-end skincare I have ever tried. My skin really changed in three weeks. I am not paid by them!’
Ah, a challenge and the research began. I discovered that the brand was not available in the UK and I nearly fell over when I saw the price of the products, but my intrigue deepened and I knew I had to get them tested, so I selected five products, but thought I wouldn’t be able to test them personally because they contained essential oils and as most of you know, I am highly allergic to all essential oils. Damn, damn, damn, but then the products landed on my desk and I couldn’t help it, I put them in my bag and took them home.
Something in my head was telling me that I couldn’t launch this brand without using them myself and so I took my life in my hands, opened them up and decided that the very worst thing that could happen was that within ten minutes I could be on my way to A&E (again!) because of course this has occurred often when I am testing products. I’ll write about what happened to me in a moment but I want to give you an overview of Julisis first.
The active principle of Julisis is radically different from everything you have experienced or heard about skincare. Their intensely energetic and physically efficient formulations are based on the science of famous Swiss alchemist Paracelsus (1493-1541), who discovered how to use the healing properties of plants, minerals and metals to perfectly harmonize our bodies, inside and out.
Founded by Julius Eulberg, Julisis was first launched in 2003 out of Julius’ vision to redefine 21st century skincare. His creation incorporates the special alchemy of liquid gold and liquid silver; the daytime preparations are activated with alchemistic gold to help vitalize, protect and energise skin during the day and the night formulations are activated with silver to help firm, detoxify and balance every level of your body.
I could write reams about the brand, before I even start telling you about the products, but I will refer you instead to ‘Gill meets Julius Eulberg’, where you will discover why he believes that there are too many senseless products on the market (interestingly, I agree with him), the philosophy behind the brand and why all liquid gold and liquid silver products are not created equally, despite the hype suggesting otherwise. He also talks about delivering honest products, without false promises, which work visibly after one or two applications to deliver the special ‘Julisis Glow’. Let me tell you, I also strive for absolute perfection in skincare products, I truly believe I have found it and I absolutely have the ‘glow’, which has not gone unnoticed!

Julisis – The Products
Before anything, a few things to say; the first is that this range is undeniably expensive, but I absolutely promise you I wouldn’t list it on our site if I didn’t think that it would make a dramatic difference to your skin; I actually believe they are life-changing products and I guess each of the products will last at least three months as less is more. The basic regimen is easy, Gold in the morning and Silver in the evening, with a few products thrown in for good measure, if you choose to use them too. For optimum results, it is recommended that you use the entire range of products, but it is an investment.
Testimony to this is that Julisis is in such demand globally, there are often wait lists and their client list is pretty phenomenal, but this is not about name-dropping, it is about a skincare brand that is completely sensational and my thanks go to Julius for trusting us enough to launch his products in the UK, a privilege that I had to literally beg for – seriously! On this newsletter I am going to throw the focus on the Silver products for use in the evening, next month we’ll do Gold.
Enzym Lifting Mask: I am starting with the Enzym Lifting Mask because this is the first product that I tested and as I wrote above, I did this with a great deal of trepidation because of the essential oil element. I’m an all or nothing kind of girl, so I didn’t even do a skin patch test, I just layered it on and heaven help me, it tingled like crazy, which is normally a sure sign that I would be on a gurney in A&E on a drip within ten minutes. However, I left it on for 15 minutes, the tingling stopped, I washed it off and then I started screeching like a woman possessed. My skin had literally transformed itself in 15 minutes.
I actually lost count of how many times I looked in the mirror, but think it must have been at least 30 times because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. My skin looked completely translucent and the heaviness under my eyes had gone, literally the bags and darkness were on the missing list and it looked like I had applied some miracle ‘whitening’ concealer beneath my eyes, except I hadn’t. At this point I am almost lost for words other than to say that this is a treatment product and it should only be used once a week. The defining objectives of alchemy are varied, but the ability to transform and develop products in this way is pretty magical and the results are so seriously stunning, I feel like I have been propelled to another planet, which would probably please Shabir no end – like I really care!
Enzym Lifting Mask £84 for 50 ml
The Silver Preparations
The night preparations are infused with activated liquid silver essence for firming, detoxifying and balancing, there are four products linked synergistically and I have fallen in love with the scent. My recommendation is that once you have applied the Silver Elexir Night and/or the Silver Cream Night, you cup your hands together and inhale the scent; I find it extraordinarily calming and it also sends me to sleep. I believe that you truly have to love using products and be excited about them, these night time preparations just do that for me.
Silver Wash Night: This aromatic liquid cleanser gently purifies skin from dust, make-up and excessive sebum, without drying the skin. The alchemistic combination of rockrose, aloe and liquid silver essence harmonizes and balances both your skin and your senses and is a perfect way to end your day. After using the cleanser, splash your face seven times with warm or hot water to ensure maximum absorption of the other night-time products. I do this every night because I adore a bit of a ritual, it makes me happy!
Silver Wash Night £62 for 150 ml (Pre-Order only)
Silver Cistus Toner Night: Once again, the alchemistic combination of selected medicinal plans with Himalaya crystal salt and liquid silver essence, balances and helps clear your complexion. An instant relaxer it will also help support the overnight detoxification process and refines the appearance of your skin.
Silver Cistus Toner Night £60 for 150 ml
Silver Elexir Night: Cell regeneration mainly occurs during the night and this unique formulation with liquid silver essence intensifies the detoxification process, whilst relaxing and refining the appearance of your skin. It helps maintain the natural elasticity of the epidermis and should be applied immediately after cleansing on a moistened face and neck area.
Silver Elexir Night £174 for 30 ml
Silver Cream Night: The Silver Cream Night combines selected medicinal plants, including Saffron, St John’s Wort and Field Horsetail with beeswax and liquid silver essence. Formulated to promote the overnight renewal process of the skin, this soothing rich preparation helps harmonize and firm fatigued skin, minimizing the appearance of small wrinkles.
Silver Cream Night £165 for 50 ml
The Wrap and A Gift
Two things to say; the first is that for the first time ever I have been able to use a skincare range that incorporates essential oils and if you tend to be allergic to skincare as well, then do read my interview with Julius to discover why the brand has a 0% allergy rate, which in ten years is quite something.
Finally in that same interview, I asked Julius what his hero product is and the answer to that is Eyemulsion. I haven’t written about it on this newsletter, but I totally get the reason why it is a hero, it really is pretty amazing. So do take time to read all about it and I am going to drop in a sample of Eyemulsion with every Julisis order, whilst they last, although you may feel the need to have it after you have read about it in the interview!
Eyemulsion £189 for 20 ml
The Daily Energy Treat
Energy slumps are prevalent throughout the year, but they seem to peak at this time of the year, most especially with the build-up to Christmas about to descend upon us. So to ramp up, I am putting Daily Energy together with Mega-Probiotic ND and abracadabra, we have a treat.
Daily Energy is a multi-herb and nutrient formulation that helps boost physical and mental energy, helps to prevent mid-afternoon slump and abates the effect of both physical and emotive stress without the use of caffeine or artificial stimulants. A combination of ginsengs and nutrients reinforces the body’s natural defences while supporting the body’s own ability to demonstrate improved vitality and endurance.
Probiotics are the friendly bacteria in our gut that play a role in a myriad of functions including digestion and immunity. With specific reference to their role in energy production, these bacteria help to break down food more efficiently releasing vitamins and minerals from the food we eat. Importantly, these beneficial bacteria work on an ongoing basis in the gut releasing these nutrients throughout the day and thus aid in the prevention of energy slumps. These nutrients can then be taken up by all the glands in the body, including the adrenals, which are the body’s primary glands for the production of energy.
The Treat: Voila, there you have it, the double whammy energy fix so now, the treat. If you buy Daily Energy then we will throw in a travel size pot of Mega-Probiotic ND (30 capsules worth £9.25) to kick-start your energy levels. We have a limited amount of gifts, so this treat will run whilst stocks last.
Daily Energy £25 for 60 Capsules (including Mega-Probiotic ND x 30 Capsules); Mega-Probiotic ND £18.50 for 60 Capsules

NEW: The Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible
Excitement, we have the exclusive UK launch of the updated Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible, which has been fully revised with new award winners. This is the latest in the bestselling Beauty Bible series where health and beauty experts, Sarah Stacey and Jo Fairley bring together everything a woman needs to know about feeling great, looking gorgeous and being fabulous, whatever your age.
Chapters include guidance on skin, hair, make-up, hands, feet and nails, sleep, exercise and much more, together with tips for taking off ten years in minutes. The book also includes Jo and Sarah’s trademark ‘tried and tested’ reports on scores of health and beauty products that have been reliably tested by over 5800 women, which is quite something.
The book will be launched in The Mail on Sunday YOU magazine on 10 November and I wouldn’t want you to miss out because there are a couple of gifts attached to the launch, which we are all very excited about. You can of course pre-order the book from now, but please don’t come crying to me when you discover what the gifts are because I can’t backdate gifts and they will only be available from the official launch date.
So that said, I will splash this across the front of our site on Sunday 10 November on ‘Breaking News’, so set yourself a reminder and watch this fly!
The Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible £12.95 (RRP £15.99)
NEW: Effervescent Vitamin C – Magnesium Crystals for Constipation
This is the product that Shabir hasn’t stopped talking about for the past few weeks and it is so effective, it is like having colonic irrigation, except you don’t need to go anywhere, which is probably just as well.
Occasional constipation is one of the most common gastro-intestinal concerns in the world. Most people suffering from constipation develop a variety of symptoms, which can include bowel pain, bloating, a feeling of fullness, nausea, rectal pain and a general feeling of uneasiness.
If you suffer from occasional constipation, fibre is not the solution because it is recommended as an on-going treatment for constipation. Effervescent Vitamin C is a natural solution that provides quick relief, in most cases within a couple of hours, which is pretty brilliant and it also negates the need to revert to chemical laxatives.
Effervescent Vitamin C – Magnesium Crystals can be used in varying doses depending upon individual need and is safe to use up to three times a week as it contains only nutrients that provide benefit to the body. Just drink one level teaspoon mixed in eight ounces of water, without food, followed by an additional eight ounces of water.
I will just add one thing here, the benefits of having a ‘clean out’ are numerous and well documented, so even if you don’t suffer from constipation, a dose of this every ten days will help keep your skin clear amongst other things. It’s kind of like pouring bleach down a drain – ‘kills all known germs’ – except we are not drains, but you get the gist. So love cleaning products, it’s a personal fixation!
Effervescent Vitamin C – Magnesium Crystals for Constipation £19 for 180 grams
NEW: Sleep-In Rollers
There is a bit of a roller-revolution going on and I officially love this range of Sleep-In Rollers. Women have been suffering for years trying to sleep whilst wearing rollers, but Sleep-In Rollers have been designed to flatten like a sponge and enable you to sleep with your rollers in, providing you with a peaceful nights sleep and curls/big hair first thing in the morning. Sleep-In Rollers also come inside a drawstring bag, which is perfect for carrying your rollers around in style. There are various sets including Brown Leopard Sleep-In Rollers, Pink Leopard Sleep-In Rollers, a Mega Bounce Gift Set (to blow and go), Short-Hair Volume Rollers and Pure White & Gold Glitter Sleep-In Rollers (very glam!). There are a lot of Sleep-In rollers around, but these are the original and the best and I also happen to adore the fun packaging, which makes them perfect as a gift. Check them out, they are seriously fabulous and Christmas here we come!
Sleep-In Rollers from £17.95
NEW: Goodnight Pillow
The wicked side of me thinks that this would be a perfect gift for all of us who have partners that snore, because we have put it to the test and it works. With an ‘innocent face’ you could of course say that you are gifting this because it aids restful sleep, which is completely true, but it’s our restful sleep too, so forgive me, but I have a wry smile on my face!
There are of course a multitude of pillows on the market, but the Goodnight Pillow really does help reduce snoring and aids restful sleep. It is made from visco memory foam for maximum comfort and support, so whilst it will help reduce snoring, most people have found that they sleep better as your head is cradled in temperature sensitive memory foam. Brilliant if you suffer from neck pain, or if you sit in front of a computer all day and night – that would be me!
The temperature sensitive memory foam reacts to body temperature using body heat to soften and mould to the contours of your head and neck. It evenly distributes the weight of your head and neck which in turn reduces pressure on points of the spine resulting in a relaxed and less disturbed sleep. It also gives greater support to the shoulders if you sleep on your side.
The Goodnight Pillow is non-allergenic and is different to a normal soft pillow. It may take a little getting used to so allow about a week to grow accustomed to it. The pillow is used flat side down and contoured side up. There is a lower and a higher contour so you can decide which suits you best and which is the most comfortable. Bonne nuit à tous!
The Goodnight Pillow £49.99
The Diosmin Plus Treat
A key to optimal health is to understand that every single gland within our bodies requires nutrients and oxygen to perform their varying roles. Without oxygen and the supply of nutrients from blood, these glands simply cannot carry out their functions.
When blood flows at an optimal rate in the body the heart and the brain are supplied with oxygen and minerals. With specific reference to the heart, lack of blood flow can result in numerous cardiovascular concerns such as high blood pressure due to plaque build-up. For those with high cholesterol levels, it is important to ensure that cholesterol, the bad type, which is referred to as LDL, is moved quickly to the liver where it can be destroyed. This action can only take place if you have the optimal flow of blood. The longer this bad cholesterol takes to get to the liver, the more chance it has to deposit onto the arteries and thus increase the chances of high blood pressure.
With reference to brain function, a lack of flow of blood can result in problems with concentration and mental fog because various nutrients are required by the brain and nerve cells to transmit signals; without oxygen and nutrients from blood, the adrenals cannot manufacture their energising hormones and enzymes, resulting in fatigue.
Poor circulation in our bodies can also result in chilblains and cold hands and feet and it is estimated that 10 million people in the UK suffer from Raynaud’s disease, which is the result of the constriction of the small arteries in the fingers and toes, which can then go into spasm, causing skin to turn pale or blue and the fingers and toes to go numb. It can also affect the nose, cheeks and tips of the ears, which will all throb, tingle and even swell. Most common in younger women, it usually happens after exposure to the cold and so tends to only be a problem during winter months.
These are just some concerns associated with poor circulation but the list is pretty endless. Every process and nearly every concern is associated with impaired circulation, which is why the key to optimal health, aside from nutrition, is the supply of blood to all the glands within our bodies. To ensure this takes place, we recommend Diosmin Plus, which contains a blend of powerful botanicals that enhance the movement of blood through a series of mechanisms.
The Treat: Because we know that poor circulation is a major concern for so many of you, we want to help support you through the colder months with a treat. Just so that you know, Diosmin Plus is also a brilliant natural remedy for varicose veins, spider veins and haemorrhoids, so check out Shabir’s article and whilst stocks last, we have created a special twin-pack offer, which means you will get two x Diosmin Plus for £40, saving £10. This will give you two months of improved circulation, which can only be a good thing! I just want to say that this is a limited offer, so get in there whilst you can!
The Diosmin Plus Treat £40 (2 x Diosmin Plus worth £50); Editorial: A Natural Remedy for Varicose Veins, Haemorrhoids and Poor Circulation
Phylia de M – Update
It is exactly a year since we launched Fulphyl and what a year it has been; winning an award for the best health and beauty supplement for such a young product is indicative of the efficacy and far-reaching health benefits Fulphyl is renowned for. Along with many leading health editors, I can’t imagine not taking Fulphyl and I have it on very good authority from one editor that it is brilliant for hangovers, which kind of makes me smile, especially at this time of year.
But of course Fulphyl is much more than that, I believe it is the future of medicine and it is an incredible multi-use healer, having the remarkable ability to help neutralize toxins and encourage optimum health. Created from the natural fermentation of organic matter, Fulphyl helps food become medicine for life as this pure, potent and humic-free form of Fulvic Acid helps heal, renew and restore.
Fulphyl £160 for 360 ml (Dose 5-10 ml per day); VH Editorial: Fulvic Acid – The Elixir of Life
I now need to give you an update on Clean, Condition and Connect, the three step kit. I wrote on the last newsletter about India Knight’s article in the Sunday Times, but if you missed it, you can read it here. The demand for all Phylia products after that article was pretty amazing and together with the thousands of people who have used the brand since we launched it in the UK approximately 18 months ago, you can imagine what happened – we had a wait list, which thankfully we cleared, but ‘Houston we have a problem’ in the short term, so read on.
It is a fact of life that many brands often struggle with production when demand exceeds supply; we have been here before and this won’t be the last time it happens. With all the best will in the world, none of us can predict the volume of stock that will be needed going forward. When an article appears out of the blue, such as the Sunday Times, and seriously I didn’t know it was going in, it can have a massive impact on the availability of raw ingredients and production, which is precisely what has happened with Phylia.
This is particularly difficult for Kazu Namise (the creator of Phylia) because neither of us expected to have the depth of growing pains that we are now looking at. Of course this is the greatest testimony to the brand because the products are exceptional and the feedback has been so incredibly positive, right from the beginning, but on the other hand we are now faced with a shortage of product.
So with a great big deep breath, just know from Kazu and I that we are working round the clock to resolve this as quickly as we can, but there are so many components required in the production of Phylia, that neither of us know at this stage what the next few weeks are going to look like. You can of course still order Phylia, but don’t be surprised if you are put on a wait list and I will of course keep you all updated as we work through this. There is a wonderful saying, ‘this too will pass’ and it will, I just don’t know when – I’m so sorry, but I need you to know the issues we are currently facing. Rock on Phylia and let’s all hold hands and pray for the raw ingredients!

Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a very common debilitating gastro-intestinal disorder that affects people in different ways. It is estimated that between 8-20% of the adult population are affected, mainly women between the ages of 30 and 60. Typical symptoms include chronic abdominal pain, bloating and varying bouts of constipation and diarrhoea.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome is termed as a functional disorder, which is a medical condition that impairs the normal function of the body where every part of the body looks completely normal under examination. IBS is a very complex condition, often misunderstood and yet sufferers can exhibit a combination of different symptoms and signs. Abdominal bloating and constipation is known as IBS-C, diarrhoea as IBS-D, or alternating between both, which is known as IBS-A.
In this editorial feature, Shabir takes a look at IBS and investigates the various causes and recommends remedies for each of the associated symptoms.
VH Editorial: Irritable Bowel Syndrome; Super Bio-Circumin £27.75 for 60 Capsules; Mega-Probiotic ND £18.50 for 60 Capsules; Effervescent Vitamin C – Magnesium Crystals for Constipation £19 for 180 grams
It was pretty inevitable that I would be writing about Christmas gifts on this newsletter, so just a couple of things to say before we hit straight in. Many of these gifts are limited editions, so once they are gone, they are gone and they will not be coming back. Now we all know that it is the season of giving, but some of these are so cool you may want to gift yourself and I’m all for that, although I doubt whether Shabir will be when he discovers precisely what I’ve got my eyes on. Right, jingle jingle, let’s go:
Miracle Morning Time Gift Set by Aurelia Probiotic Skincare: This rather smart gift set includes Aurelia’s Miracle Cleanser, which since its launch has developed a bit of a cult following, with many of you saying it is the best cleanser you have ever used. An aromatic, creamy infusion, Miracle Cleanser glides on to the skin and lifts all impurities and make-up. Along with its soft anti-bacterial bamboo muslin cloth, it will buff away dead skin cells, whilst helping to stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process. In addition, Aurelia has created a signature blend of morning time tea – a refreshing infusion to be enjoyed in a gorgeous pink and gold tea cup and saucer, all presented in a gift box with ribbon, of course! Also check out their Relax and Repair Night Time Gift.
Miracle Morning Time Gift Set £55 (Miracle Cleanser 120 ml; Bamboo Muslin Cloth; Morning Time Tea; Pink and Gold Cup and Saucer); Relax and Repair Night Time Gift Set £65
Perfect Night In Bathing Collection by Neom Luxury Organics: The name does it for me and for if you are looking for a deeply relaxing pre-bedtime indulgence, this should do it. The Collection comprises an Organic Bath Foam and an Organic Treatment Candle, which is unmistakably Lavender, but with a modern twist, as the indulgent Tranquillity fragrance is a delicate blend of English Lavender with sweet Basil and the pretty scent of Jasmine (love Jasmine, just saying!). Light the candle, dim the lights and sink into the relaxing warmth of a Tranquillity bath; close your eyes, breathe deeply and allow the powerful treatment effects of Tranquillity to take hold. Neom wrote that part, not me, but I’m not changing a word because I can’t describe it any better; all I will add is that in my dreams I would like to light about 60 Tranquillity candles all at once, but I doubt that will ever happen!
Perfect Night In Bathing Collection £22 (Tranquillity Bath Foam 50 ml; Tranquillity Travel Candle)
Sleeping Partners by This Works: I think you are going to like this one as this set includes the bestselling Deep Sleep Pillow Spray together with the award-winning Deep Sleep Night Oil. Unwind after a long day with a deep sleep ritual; massage Deep Sleep Night Oil all over the body (it’s non-greasy and easily absorbed) and then spritz your pillow with the sleep-enhancing essential oils in Deep Sleep Pillow Spray and gently inhale for a good night’s sleep. Together these products are worth £41, but This Works have put them together, called the set ‘Sleeping Partners’ and the set is £29, which means you save £12. I like that!
Sleeping Partners £29 (Deep Sleep Pillow Spray 75 ml; Deep Sleep Night Oil 120 ml)
Festive Collection by Aromatherapy Associates: If you have never tried any of the blends from Aromatherapy Associates, then this is a great introduction to the brand; if you have already discovered the power of the Aromatherapy Associates blends, then you will love this Festive Collection. The Collection comprises ten fragrant, therapeutic blends, including the recently launched Inner Strength Bath & Shower Oil. Other blends include Deep Relax Bath & Shower Oil, De-Stress Mind Bath & Shower Oil and Equilibrium Bath & Shower Oil. Each 3 ml bottle contains one bath or shower experience.
Festive Collection by Aromatherapy Associates £35
The Home Spa Collection by Temple Spa: Most of you know that I have a huge soft spot for Temple Spa, I adore their products and I adore them for always supporting us, no matter what. Over the next few weeks, look out for some amazing Temple Spa gifts on 60 Seconds, many of which are a great introduction to the brand, most especially if you have never tried any of their products.
One gift that won’t be on 60 Seconds is the Home Spa Collection, which is such a treat and makes a fabulous gift, if you can bear to part with it. It contains many of their bestselling products, all used for the complete top to toe home spa experience. These include The Power Breakfast, Repose (aromatherapy resting cream), Drift Away, Be Calm and Be Still. Drift Away is one of my all-time bathing favourites and also check out their new candle, Felice, which was inspired by a winter walk in the woods and contains essences of blue spruce, myrrh, followed by middle notes of mulling spices and top notes of bitter orange, satsuma and bergamot.
The Home Spa Collection £30; Felice £25
I could carry on, but I won’t because I’ve still got a lot to write about and you may fall asleep before we get to the end! So I will just say that you can discover all gifts under our gift section (sorry to state the obvious) and you might want to take a look at the rest of the This Works offerings, including their Beauty Ball, Cosmic Cracker and Dream Believers.
News and Feedback
Let’s start this with some feedback on Phylia and then Selexir Peace Balm, both with the same theme, which is pretty neat:
Phylia: ‘I’ve used Phylia for ages now (you can check my order history!) and it really works. I’ve suffered from eczema and dermatitis on my face and scalp since birth and Phylia is the only product I’ve ever used that cleans my hair, conditions it and doesn’t irritate it. It’s a miracle.’
Clean £28; Condition £30; Connect £45; The Three Step Kit £103; The Four Step Kit £163; Phylia Complete £323
Selexir Peace Balm: ‘I just wanted to take the time to write to you as I am so glad to have discovered SELEXIR Peace Balm! I read about it in the Sunday Times and couldn’t wait to try it as I have eczema and suffer from really raw, dry hands. I get really nervous about showing my hands – and just feeling that peace is on its way gave me such relief! I have just tried it for a short while now and already I can feel a spectacular change.
I have been using hydrocortisone cream on and off for years and got really frustrated. This however feels instantly soothing and most important for me, the itch seems to have totally vanished! I will be using this religiously from now on.’ Note from me: A little goes a very long way and there are a few of us (no names!) who use it on our feet; smooth, gorgeous feet are pretty important to us all year round and Peace Balm just does it, rather spectacularly actually!
Selexir Peace Balm £39
The Dermasuri: Wow, what a launch, if you missed last month’s newsletter, then click here to read about the once-a-fortnight secret to soft skin. Meanwhile, this from a customer:
‘The Dermasuri mitt is the business. I watched in equal parts of delight and disgust as more and more big rolls of dead skin came off my body. Afterwards my skin was wonderfully soft and smooth and the unsightly darker areas of my skin, caused by years of clothing rubbing against my skin, have all but disappeared. I stood under a steaming shower for a full five minutes before scrubbing with the mitt and the dead skin just kept rolling off’.
Dermasuri Deep Exfoliating Mitt £19.95
Dr Hauschka: After I wrote about listing Dr Hauschka on the October newsletter, we have been flooded with emails from all you Dr Hauschka fans. So just to say that we are increasing the products we have already listed to incorporate your favourites and the top five bestselling products so far are the Neem Nail Oil Pen, Rose Day Cream, Moor Lavender Calming Bath Essence, Translucent Bronze Concentrate and the Daily Body Care Kit, which really doesn’t surprise me.
This month our editorial section includes Jo Fairley writing about prepping skin for winter, Catherine Turner asks if you are drinking enough water (I’m not – bad, bad me!) and Sally Brampton writes about funerals as a celebration, rather than a day of mourning. Believing that it is something that is not written about nearly enough, Sally writes about her experience as she loses one of her closest friends to cancer – a tribute to Candy – death, celebration and happy endings.
Additionally, the Beauty Bible girls reveal some of the award winners from their new book and in The Collective read all about the recent Women of the Year Lunch. With another hat plonked on my head, I sit on the Operating Board of Women of the Year and just to say that WOY is all about celebrating extraordinary ordinary women, many of whom have overcome tremendous adversity to succeed on their chosen path, which has nothing to do with money or celebrity. I will also add that next year is our 60th Lunch, we are the original and we were founded in 1955, before I was born, just in case you wondered! With thanks to Jo Fairley (again!) for writing this article for The Telegraph.
A few things to say before we reach the end of another newsletter, so let’s finish up with a few new products, the return of another and a recommendation if you are travelling:
Trind Nail Balsam: I’ve recently received some pretty amazing feedback regarding this product and on the strength of that, we have listed it. If you suffer from nails that won’t grow or suffer from brittle and dry nails, then Nail Balsam is the perfect moisturizer to help prevent your nails breaking and splitting. It helps nails from drying out and also helps nails get stronger. It is recommended that you should use Nail Balsam for two weeks; apply to the nails and let the balsam soak for two minutes and then massage the excess into the nail and surrounding skin. After the initial two weeks, use once weekly for maintenance.
If your nails are both soft and brittle, the combination of Trind Nail Balsam and Trind Nail Repair will help strengthen your nails and you should apply this daily for two weeks and thereafter one coat weekly.

Tend Skin Solution: Tend Skin is one of the most efficient products available for razor bumps, in-growing hair and razor burn. It can also be used for general skin irritation after waxing and is known as the ultimate solution for any cosmetic problem related to hair removal. It can be used by men on their face, neck and back of the head, whilst women find it particularly useful on legs, bikini line, underarms and anywhere where hair removal causes bumps on the skin. Use morning and evening until the area is clear. Brilliant stuff.
Tend Skin Solution £12.50 for 118 ml
Sinol M: After a bit of a long absence, Sinol M is back, which is rather wonderful news because it had a huge following and one member of the Sinol fan club suffered severe palpitations when she discovered it was no longer available. We won’t dwell on that, instead I will tell you that this is the best all-natural nasal spray for fast headache relief we have every come across. Whatever the cause of the headache, sinus, tension, cluster or menstrual, Sinol M will help and it is particularly useful for migraine sufferers.
One of the ingredients in Sinol M is capsaicin, from the pepper plant and it is a well-known analgesic (pain reliever). Sinol M works by travelling into the sinuses and is picked up by cilia, which carry it into the trigeminal nerve, which leads to the back of the head. The trigeminal nerve becomes desensitized, helping to relive the headache without the rebound effect felt by many other pain relievers. Welcome back Sinol M!
Sinol M £16 for 15 ml
Altitude Oil: This is Annee de Mamiel’s bestselling oil, so if you are travelling soon, please take this little gem with you as it has been blended specifically for use when travelling. It contains a range of powerful, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and antiseptic ingredients to help support and protect the immune system whilst in the confines of an air cabin. The invigorating scent of Altitude Oil also helps relieve bunged up noses, clearing the head and helping us breathe more easily. I actually burn the oil, most especially if I am in a hotel room and it’s one of the first things I do, even before I unpack. You can also burn it in your bathroom if you feel slightly under the weather as it will lift your senses. Always a good thing!
Altitude Oil by Annee de Mamiel £25 for 10 ml
So we come to the end of another marathon newsletter, so together with Shabir and the VH team, I would like to thank you for your on-going support and amazing loyalty and I’ll be back with the December newsletter, which is usually pretty bonkers, so look out for that.
I hope you all have a happy and healthy November.
