Welcome to the July newsletter where my three year wait for the sensational new range of products from Innovative Skincare (iS Clinical) is over. Yes, I am beyond excited to exclusively launch these pioneering, cutting edge products into the UK and my fingers will be dancing all over my keyboard as I introduce them to you. Also in this newsletter, amazing happenings with Phylia de M, and we release the very first video from the Phylia girls, which was shot in LA’s number one salon, Andy LeCompte. We take a look at the most common summer holiday problems, I bring you news, updates and for the love of VH, I put one of our hardcore customers onto the podium. Let’s go:
Innovative Skincare – The Background
Many years ago I was introduced to Bryan Johns and Alec Call, joint founders of Innovative Skincare (iS Clinical), who are based in LA. They were achieving phenomenal success with their groundbreaking products, which launched at the world-famous Mayo Clinic and they had received five US Federal Government grants for further research, most especially in the field of cancer care.
At that time the products were only available from dermatologists and skincare clinics, but having used the products extensively I wanted them in the UK and so I got down on my knees and begged. The products had not previously been sold in a retail environment, but they finally let me bring them into the UK for two reasons. Firstly, because they knew I would never give up and secondly because Shabir is a qualified pharmacist, which really mattered to them.
I have known for over three years that extensive research and development was taking place to develop a breakthrough cosmeceutical skincare line and I am beyond excited that we are exclusively launching the new ‘iS’ line in the UK. These products represent the evolution of anti-ageing technology and I don’t write that statement lightly. Using a global approach to research and development, the Innovative Skincare team combine traditional botanical medicine with advanced technological formulation expertise. All products are created using the highest quality pharmaceutical-grade ingredients and they employ stringent ethical standards to advance the science of skin – one face at a time.
The New iS Products
There are eight new effective formulations in the new range of products, which have been specifically created to personalize a daily four-step regimen: cleanse, treat, hydrate and protect. I am not going to write about all of the products on this newsletter because there won’t be any room for anything else, so I’m doing five now and the next three on the August newsletter, although I will link you through to the entire product range because I’m kind like that and wouldn’t want you to miss out!
Before I launch, it is very well documented that I think (and know!) that the iS Clinical products are completely awesome and in my humble opinion, Bryan and Alec (my LA boyfriends!), can’t put a foot wrong. Because I have such a rock solid belief system in the products, I would not want my judgement clouded and so I sent a full set of products to two independent testers. The first I asked to write an overall report on the entire range (which will appear at the end of this section) and the second I asked to specifically comment on each of the products:
Exfoliating Enzyme Treatment: I can’t begin to tell you how much I love this product. The word ‘exfoliating’ often makes me shake because I tend to have visions of clinical face peels going very wrong, but this new-generation formulation is a safe, effective physical and biochemical exfoliant combining powerful botanical enzymes. Exfoliating Enzyme Treatment dramatically renews the appearance of your skin as it smoothes, refines and polishes in minutes. Its key ingredients are Papaya Enzymes and Micro-Beads, for resurfacing and smoothing and Copper, which firms, hydrates and stimulates collagen synthesis. When I first tested it, I nearly fainted right in front of the mirror and such is its power, that this product should be used only once, every two–four weeks. Skincare investment has one of its finest moments – in your own bathroom!
Independent Tester: This is alchemy in a tube. You can literally see it working on your skin. Apply, leave for up to five minutes and watch. My skin was cleansed, plumped, toned and refined right before my eyes. The urge to use it every day rather than once every two weeks is overwhelming.
Exfoliating Enzyme Treatment by iS £73 for 50 ml
Age Treatment Complex: Basically, it’s love. I’m not quite sure how they have done it, but the research and development team have come up with the ultimate anti-ageing product for all skin types and for all ages. Yes, it is of course loaded with pharmaceutical grade botanical ingredients, but it’s the formulations ability to act synergistically to dynamically combat the signs of ageing coupled with the ability to help diminish the appearance of hyper-pigmentation and acne that astounds me. Fortunately, I do not have problematic skin, but I gave this to a friend who suffers from acne outbreaks and it cleared her skin in 48 hours, needless to say she is hooked. Providing both short and long-term results, I’m completely up for skin-changing products, this is one of them.
Independent Tester: Lightweight gel that instantly evens out your skin tone. The long term benefits of this are fabulous but the immediate results are amazing. Plumps and evens out redness.
Age Treatment Complex by iS £92 for 30 ml
Instant Smoothing Gel: Let me begin by telling you that I have a personal involvement in this heroic product. Over the past three years, at various stages, I have received lab samples of this product and from inception it has just got better and better, although quite honestly I thought the very first version was stunning. Instant Smoothing Gel is a results-oriented formula to instantly help smooth and tighten, whilst promoting long-term improvement to the skin’s appearance. Utilising ‘intelligent proteins’ to fight the signs of ageing at a cellular level, these proteins are clinically proven to target damaged sites and strengthen dermal structure, whilst helping to reduce puffiness and dark under-eye circles. I use this after the Age Treatment Complex and it’s important to note that this formula works effectively with cosmetics, i.e slap on your foundation (if you need to!) and it doesn’t stop working. Smart.
Independent Tester: Firms and smoothes your skin and adds to the effect of the Age Treatment Complex. You could now walk out of the door without make-up and look fresh and youthful.
Instant Smoothing Gel by iS £92 for 15 ml
Restorative Eye Complex (with Extremozyme): I’m going to keep this as simple as I can because I don’t want to blind you with science, but looking to nature for inspiration Innovative Skincare’s research and development team found that micro-organisms living in extreme conditions contain special enzymes that enable them to tolerate high levels of heat, cold, pressure, aridity, acidity, salinity and radiation. By incorporating these ‘Extremozymes’ into their advanced formulations, the chemists were able to leverage these enzymes’ natural ability to nurture the skin on a cellular level – protecting it from ageing by combating major environmental causes: heat, cold, dehydration, radiation and free radical damage.
Loaded with Extremozyme technology, to help prevent DNA damage, Restorative Eye Complex is a little miracle worker and I believe in miracles! It is smoothing and hydrating and helps reduce puffiness and dark under-eye circles. Once again, this product offers immediate and long-term results and key ingredients include Hyaluronic Acid (of course!), Vitamin E, Antarctacine and Copper Tripeptide Growth Factors, which help firm, lift and repair cellular damage. This product is sensational and even though I received the comment (below) from the independent tester several weeks ago, it makes me laugh every time I read it. It was accompanied with the following sentence: ‘I have never loved a skincare range like I love iS. I would go into the witness box and swear that everything I have written is true.’ I now give you our tester:
Independent Tester: I love this. Tiny, tiny amount needed. You must do this – apply to one eye, wait a few seconds and then compare the difference! Instantly de-puffs, de-crinkles and brightens. I will sell a kidney for this product!
Restorative Eye Complex by iS £73 for 15 ml
The final product I am going to write about is Extreme Protect SPF 30. I did not send this out for testing, primarily because the weather here has been so completely appalling over the past couple of months, I saw little point, although it could be argued that we should all be wearing this level of protection every day, whatever the weather. However, what I will tell you is that this product has generated significant pre-launch buzz in the dermatology community in the US because it is the first SPF treatment clinically proven to help protect against DNA damage, and that really is groundbreaking news.
Extreme Protect shelters healthy collagen from sun exposure and ageing and provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection for the ultimate in protection and is proven to help protect against skin damage. It also helps repair solar damage by reducing redness and inflammation associated with sunburn. After reading all the research papers, this is the only sunscreen I would ever want to use on my face and before I wrap this whole section with the comments from the second VH tester, the last word goes to Bryan Johns, CEO of Innovative Skincare. I bow (or curtsy!) to his brilliance:
‘This is the only product on the market of its kind that I have seen. What sets our results apart is the fact that these clinical studies were performed on the entire formula, not just one ingredient, which is what you most often see in skincare studies. Our studies showed that skin protected with Extreme Protect SPF 30 may experience less DNA damage in direct sunlight than untreated skin in total darkness. We have not seen a DNA protective skincare formulation with this level of clinical validation until now.’
Extreme Protect SPF 30 by iS £64 for 100g
The Wrap: Just to say that I know these products are expensive, but as ever with powerful formulations, less really is more and I would expect each of the daily use products to last at least two to three months, unless you are extraordinarily heavy handed. The very final words go to our second tester and I would like to thank both of our testers for their dedication and honesty:
‘Having combination skin, when I started using these products my skin seemed to do a detox process, initially there were a few tiny spots, but since then not a single one! Panda eyes have all but disappeared, to the point where I do not know where my concealer pen is because I just don’t need it anymore. The Instant Smoothing Gel is like a mini-morning facelift and both the moisturisers are divine; rapidly absorbed and super effective.
Every single product punches well above its weight and delivers everything it promises and more. This has to be the most exciting launch for a very long time and I’m sure everyone who tries it will be thrilled with the results’.
The Complete iS Range of Products
Phylia de M
If I wasn’t launching the iS range on this newsletter, I absolutely promise you that for the third month running I would have run Phylia de M as my lead story. Actually the parallels between Phylia and iS are quite interesting; both based in LA, both have staggering research and development programmes and each and every one of their products are impeccable. So what iS Clinical is to skincare, Phylia is to hair and scalp health. The feedback and response to all three Phylia products has been beyond my wildest dreams because I just didn’t think that at £103 for three products, the UK would embrace this pioneering hair care range, but it has and the breakthrough for these wonderful products continues to astound me.
The second thing that has astounded me is that Phylia de M has recently received quite a lot of press, and nearly every single journalist who has written about it has said the same thing to me; all three products have made such a difference to their own hair that they needed to tell the world about Phylia. I truly thank them because thinning hair and hair loss can be such a traumatic experience, although quite honestly these products are fabulous for any type of hair, with Connect being the glorious hero of the range.
I think that one of the most interesting aspects of the Phylia launch is that it has its own very special momentum and that people are being incredibly generous in sharing their experiences when using the products. Working with the founders, Kazu and Kidada, has been an absolute dream and the mission of making a difference continues to be paramount. If you missed the launch of these products, then please click here to read what I wrote about the products on the May newsletter, but there is one last very special thing I need to share with you, the Phylia de M video.
This video was shot in LA’s leading hair salon, Andy LeCompte, with owner, Leanne Citrone as the Phylia Scalp and Hair professional. Leanne is very well respected and loved in the US and let me tell you that I keep watching it because in my hallucinatory little world, I make believe I am in LA as its playing! Kazu and Kidada make a fleeting appearance at the end, which I know they didn’t want to do, but they did it and I think they are great. So if you want to learn more about each of the products and discover some rather fabulous tips about using them, then do watch the video, it’s very short, but very informative and extraordinarily LA!
Clean £28 for 265 ml; Condition £30 for 265 ml; Connect £45 for 120 ml; Phylia de M: Three Step Kit £103 Phylia de M Video; VH Editorial: Gill meets Kazu & Kidada
VH Editorial – Focus on L-Arginine
Western medicine has made huge advances with diseases such as smallpox and tuberculosis being eradicated or reduced to a few isolated instances. These days, the diseases that are prevalent include heart disease and high blood pressure (hypertension), are often referred to as the ‘silent killer’. For over two decades we have known that the amino acid, L-Arginine, plays a vital role in protecting the body against cardiovascular function. There are hundreds of scientific studies that demonstrate arginine’s role in the protection of hundreds of diseases, including possibly helping to slow down the ageing process. Shabir takes a look at why L-Arginine is so important and its numerous benefits – an important read.
This Amino Acid May Protect You Against Numerous Diseases; Arginine AKG £22 for 90 Capsules

Liquid Filled Cotton Buds
I like cute and clever things and these three new products fall into that category. There are three different packs of liquid filled cotton buds, as follows:
Eye Make-Up Remover & Corrector: For the moments when your mascara/kohl smudges in all the wrong places at all the wrong times and it happens to most of us girls. So a quick swipe under the eye (or wherever!) and tra-la-la, all offending smudges are gone. Water based and alcohol free, these buds also have skin conditioning properties and ingredients include Aloe Vera and Vitamin E. With a quick snap off the top of the bud, the eye make-up remover liquid is activated, making it damp and ready to use. In my handbag these go!
Liquid Filled Cotton Buds: Eye Make-Up Remover & Corrector £3.99 for 24 buds
The other two products in the range are Blemish Blitz, an emergency little pack for when you get a sudden eruption and X-Press Dental Stain Remover; bleach free and formulated to be used as a plaque, tartar and stain remover, er red wine!
Liquid Filled Cotton Buds: Blemish Blitz £3.99 for 24 buds; X-Press Dental Stain Remover £3.99 for 12 buds
Stuf by Derma E
One for the boys! I personally think that a lot of men secretly use the same skincare products as us girls, but if they are a bit macho about their skincare then this new range of products from Derma E will fit the bill. A man’s skin can take a real beating. Sun, wind, temperature extremes and chemicals leave behind dry, rough, irritated skin. Left untreated, fine lines lead to deep wrinkles and premature ageing.
Stuf Men’s Skin Defense Natural formulas is a no-nonsense, hard-working line of products that combine the potent antioxidant, Pycnogenol, with powerful herbs, vitamins and plant extracts to stabilize and improve skin texture, whilst helping to defeat free radical damage.
There are seven products in the range, all packaged in black of course! They include a Facial Cleanser, Facial Scrub, Shave Gel, After Shave Balm and an Anti-Ageing Moisturizer SPF 15. The thing that surprises me is that Derma E is one of the leading natural skincare companies in the US, yet they have chosen to formulate this range with Mark Spitz, the Olympic gold medal swimmer. I have no objection whatsoever to Mark Spitz, but I don’t get why they have done this. Such is life, but I believe a product either stands up or it doesn’t and the addition of a ‘name’ means nothing to me. Thankfully, these formulations do stand up, as I would expect from Derma E.

Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman
Ever since we launched this range of make-up brushes, the demand has been quite incredible. I think it is because they do what they say, they work brilliantly and they don’t shed. So three new brushes to add to the range:
Expert Face Brush: Ultra firm and broad for application and should be used for the blending of cream or liquid foundation. Using this brush will give you the streak-free look, as you can buff while you blend.
Expert Face Brush by Real Techniques £8.99
Setting Brush: The key to completing any look with a controlled dusting of powder or highlighter. This brush fits the contours of your face for application to smaller areas and it is also great for blending eye shadows – do love a bit of a blend!
Setting Brush by Real Techniques £7.99
Fine Liner Brush: If you want to do ‘the flick’, then this is a detailed eyeliner tool for precision application of liquid or cream eyeliner. You do need a steady hand, but this really gets the job done. If you absolutely can’t do it yourself, then check out the Miss Flicklash range of lashes with a flick attached!
Fine Liner Brush by Real Techniques £5.99; Miss Flicklash £9.99
Statins: Know the Risks
The following article by Sarah Stacey (Health Journalist of the Year), recently appeared in YOU magazine and such is its importance that I am replicating it here:
‘Statins are cholesterol-lowering drugs prescribed after people have had a heart attack, and some experts say should be given to everyone over 50. However, they may cause muscle fatigue and weakness. Evidence has accumulated that this can be due to a depletion of co-enzyme Q10 (aka ubiquinone), a vitamin-like substance that provides energy for cells and acts as an antioxidant. The problem is CoQ10 shares the same pathway as cholesterol: block one, block both. Low levels of CoQ10 have been linked to congestive heart failure, heart attacks and hypertension. In Canada, statins must carry warnings that they may cause depletion of CoQ10. Many experts suggest that people on statins (and older people, as CoQ10 levels decrease with age) take a supplement such as Super Ubiquinol CoEnzyme Q10.
Super Ubiquinol CoEnzyme Q10 by Life Extension £20.75 for 30 Softgels
Step right onto The Podium Ms Claire Gardner. Hardcore and fiercely loyal, Claire has been a VH customer/addict for more than half a decade, or it could be longer. Never one to hold back, Claire always has something to say whether it’s via email, on the phone or on Facebook. In fact if you look at our Facebook page, nine times out of ten, Claire will be there either ticking the ‘like’ box or making a comment and this girl is brutal in her honesty, which is something I really respect. A few weeks ago Claire sent me an email and asked if she could get more involved with VH, which is the precise reason why I have shoved her onto this platform!
I have a long-held vision for VH and there are things that I want to do going forward, and we will. One of the things that is most important to me is that we are here to make a difference and VH is for sharing. Now bear with me because I don’t exactly know what this is going to look like yet, but within the next few weeks Claire will be heading up a new section on our site called VH community, so do watch this space and I will write more about all of this on the August newsletter and if Claire really behaves herself, I might just give her a paragraph on the newsletter each month. Exciting!
I have abdicated this section of the newsletter to Shabir, which makes me extraordinarily happy because I can put my feet up on my desk and file my nails whilst he covers the most common summer holiday problems and how to overcome them. I’ll be back at the end of this section with News and Updates. Go Shabir!
Most of us do not worry about our holiday health until we come down with something and then rush to the local pharmacy trying to explain the symptoms. Some forward planning can make this unnecessary since most of the common problems are easily preventable or treatable. I have put together some of the most common summer concerns that our customers contact me about giving brief explanations and possible ways to prevent or treat them.
When travelling abroad, especially to developing countries, the risk of becoming ill increases. Your holiday can be ruined by unsafe or contaminated food. Many places outside of Europe do not have the investment and regulation for water supply, refuse disposal and sewerage that we take for granted in the UK. Food poisoning on holiday is often cause by contaminated or tainted water, poor hygiene by food handlers, contamination of food by insects such as flies and wasps and numerous other possible causal factors.
The normal treatment for food poisoning is prescribed antibiotics and whilst they perform their role of destroying the harmful bacteria, they are not without side effects and can disrupt the balance of the good bacteria in our gut. This does not mean that you should not take antibiotics when you have food poisoning but you may be able to prevent this concern or certainly replace the good bacteria lost through antibiotic usage by using a good probiotic.
I normally tend to recommend the use of a good probiotic such as Mega Probiotic ND by Food Science of Vermont usually taken seven days before your holiday, whilst on holiday and for another week upon your return. Probiotics are live bacteria that confer a wide array of positive benefits to our bodies. Specifically from the food poisoning point, they may help to fight of disease-causing bacteria which commonly cause food poisoning.
I also always take a supplement with me on my travels called Fast Balance GI by the same company which contains a long chain compound called Mannon Oligosaccharides, which help to prevent the adhesion of pathogenic bacteria that cause diarrhoea and normalise bowel movement calming the whole of the gastrointestinal route. This helps to prevent rushing out to the local pharmacy in case I get affected by a dodgy stomach.
Mega-Probiotic ND £18.50 for 60 Capsules; Fast Balance GI £25.95 for 90 Capsules
Prickly Heat, also known as miliaria or heat rash, is a skin condition that occurs in hot, humid weather conditions when small particles of sweat block the sweat glands causing a rash to appear on the body. The rash can develop anywhere on the body but it most commonly occurs on the face, neck, back, chest and thighs. It is composed of tiny spots or bumps that are surrounded by an area of red inflamed and itchy skin. The trapped sweat causes localised irritation and the characteristic heat rash.
Whilst prickly heat can also occur during the winter months in those that sweat excessively, there is a theory that it is the exposure of the skin to the sun, that in some, causes a photochemical reaction which releases compounds that can cause excessive sweating resulting in the blockage of the sweat glands and the characteristic rash.
I have had positive feedback from the use of Stinging Nettles Root by Swanson for both the prevention and treatment of prickly heat. Nettle is commonly employed to provide relief of hay fever and other allergies because if its ability to inhibit the release of histamine which is responsible for the rash. Additionally, nettle extracts are powerful diuretics helping to eliminate the compounds that are responsible for the inflammation of the sweat glands.
Topically, the recommendation has always been to use a good sun protection cream or spray which helps to block out the harmful rays that inflame the skin. I have found a very specific product called Sun ‘N’ Tan by Salcura, a blend of vitamins, minerals and essential oils of chamomile and rosemary which soothe, calm and cool the skin. It is non greasy, so does not block the sweat glands, and helps to filter out some of the damaging components of light that cause inflammation of skin. Sun N Tan should be applied before using a sun protection product such as Ultrasun Ultra Sensitive SPF50+ which provides high protection and does not contain oils and perfumes that may aggravate skin.
Stinging Nettles Root £14.95 for 120 Capsules; Sun ‘N’ Tan £20 for 100 ml; Ultrasun Ultra Sensitive SPF50+ £19.95
One of the most annoying things on holidays is insect bites. They can be such a nuisance and can ruin a perfectly good holiday. There is no doubt that some people are more prone to insect bites than others but we do not fully understand why.
Multiple studies indicate that taking vitamin B1 is a proven way to make you less prone to insect bites. Vitamin B1, also known as thiamine, is a very safe, non toxic vitamin. This vitamin, when taken in large doses, apparently produces a skin odour that is not detectable by humans but is disagreeable by flying insects. It seems to be especially suitable for hypersensitive allergic individuals, and usually takes about two weeks to fully saturate the skin. I recommend taking Vitamin B1 500mg by Solgar Vitamins; take one tablet daily two weeks before your holidays and also during your holiday.
There are many topical insect repellent products on the market but please ensure that you do not use one containing DEET. The chemical DEET (N,N diethyl –toluamide) is a highly effective insect repellent however there are some downsides to using products that contain it. Firstly, it smells bad. Secondly, it leaves an unpleasant oily residue on skin. Finally, it is certainly toxic if ingested and numerous studies suggest that it has a serious effect on our nervous system.
When it comes to topical insect repellents, I prefer the natural route and always recommend Acqua D’Alfresco Anti-Bug Bite Spray, a sweet/spicy smelling fragrance spray containing extracts of geranium, lavender and Melissa in a blend of 22 essential oils. Acqua D’Alfresco Anti-Bug Bite Spray is suitable for even those with sensitive skin. For babies and children, use Acqua D’Alfresco Anti-Bug Bite Moisturizer.
Vitamin B1 £15.43 for 100 Tablets; Acqua D’Alfresco Anti-Bug Bite Spray £25 for 50 ml; Acqua D’Alfresco Anti-Bug Bite Moisturiser £25 for 200 ml
Deep Vein Thrombosis
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is a condition when a blood clot forms in one or more of the deeper veins in the body. The condition often affects the legs with swelling and leg pain being the most common features however many people with DVT may not have any symptoms. The biggest concern with the formation of a blood clot in the deep veins is the risk that this clot may dislodge and shoot to the lungs. If the clot is big enough then this can be fatal. DVT’s form as a result of inactivity whether on a long plane journey or even a long ride in the car. Whilst the probabilities of DVT’s forming on plane journeys are low, there are many other risk factors which include being overweight, smoking, high blood pressure and of course long periods of inactivity.
It is for this reason that I always recommend moving around the cabin on a plane as soon as possible and as insurance take a specific circulatory supplement called Diosmin Plus by VH. Traditionally used for improving the symptoms of varicose veins and spider veins, Diosmin Plus contains a very specific herbal extract, called Diosmin 95, which has been shown to also help improve circulation in the lower limbs effectively. Diosmin Plus is not suitable for those on blood thinning medications.
In addition, or perhaps for those who do not wish to take a supplement, there is a clever little gadget called Airogym Exerciser. Invented by an ex British Airways long haul captain, Airogym Exerciser is a low cost, pocket-sized inflatable cushion which is very easy to use whilst being seated on a plane that has been shown to increase blood flow quickly and effectively.
Diosmin Plus £25 for 60 Capsules; Airogym Exerciser £11.99
One of the most common problems that are faced by air travellers crossing different time zones is Jet Lag. It is characterized by a number of symptoms which can be severe or mild depending upon the length of the journey and include nausea, diarrhoea, depression, loss of appetite, fatigue and headaches. Most people find it difficult to sleep because their bodies are not synchronised to the current time zone.
A remedy that I normally recommend is Jet Lag Prevention Tablets by Jetzone, a combination homeopathic remedy for the temporary relief of the symptoms associated with jet lag mentioned above.
Jet Lag Prevention Tablets £13.40 for 30 Chewable Tablets
Believe it or not, travel sickness affects between 60% and 70% of the world’s population at one time or another whether it is on a plane, in a car, on a boat or ship. It is an awful feeling and symptoms include nausea, vomiting and dizziness. Travel sickness is thought to be induced as a result of conflicting messages sent to a very specific region in the brain from the visual, gastrointestinal and inner ear nerves with the resulting side effects.
Avoid eating high fat or highly acidic foods before travelling particularly if you are prone to travel sickness. Eat neutral foods such as yoghurt, crackers, breads and cereals a few hours before flying. Strong smells such as perfumes have an impact on travel sickness making it worse. Avoid reading at all cost because this takes your vision away from your location and can interfere with your balance and possibly cause nausea.
Ginger is a traditional herbal remedy that has been used for travel sickness and has recently passed scientific scrutiny. Experiments have shown that ginger capsules were more effective than an over the counter medicine in preventing travel sickness. The researchers concluded that ginger absorbs acids and blocks nausea in the gastrointestinal tract. The supplement I recommend is Ginger Capsules by Lamberts and take one capsule daily three or four days before your journey.
Ginger Capsules £9.14 for 60 Capsules
The plantar fascia is a broad ligament-like structure that extends from the heel bone to the base of the toes, acting like a thick rubber band on the bottom arch of the foot. It plays an important part in the way the foot is designed to operate whilst walking or running.
Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar fascia when the ligament suffers from microscopic tears due either to poor biomechanics, overutilization or being overweight.
For the more adventurous ones who like to go on long walks or mountain climbing, plantar fasciitis is a real problem and the pain can be very excruciating. The pain of plantar fasciitis can also be triggered by excessive barefoot walking or walking without proper protection for the arch especially during the summer months due to excessive wearing of flip-flops. Old or worn-out sneakers are the biggest wrongdoers for this concern.
For the alleviation of the pain of Plantar Fasciitis, or for that matter any joint or muscle pain, I would recommend the use of Magnesium Oil Original Spray by Better You. Magnesium helps to relax muscles and nerves and when applied topically works almost instantly to relieve pain. The magnesium from the spray is also absorbed transdermally through the skin into the bloodstream where it also works from within the body.
Magnesium Oil Original Spray £12.30 for 100 ml

Skin Restoring Ceramides: I just loved this comment from a customer about Skin Restoring Ceramides, which is why I am going to share it with you. This comment made a difference to me because it made a difference to a customer, so we are both happy:
‘It’s not often that I feel compelled to write a post, but I have to say, Skin Restoring Ceramides – WOW. I must admit I was sceptical when I read the claims, but I have now been taking them for a week and the difference to my skin is amazing. A true wonder product’.

Maui Babe Browning Lotion: Always, always one of our bestselling summer products. Straight from Hawaii, there is nothing like Maui Babe to get a tan super-fast. Take it on holiday and you will be so happy. This is one of those cult products that you won’t want to travel without and in fact I think Claire Gardner and I truly bonded over a bottle of Maui Babe – she was in the South of France and I was chained to my computer in London, but she kept sending me emails raving about how tanned she was! Trust me, it’s fabulous.
Maui Babe Browning Lotion £24 for 236 ml
Green Hands Organic Cuticle Oil and Nail Strengthener: Many of you are avid fans of Green Hands Organic Cuticle Oil and Nail Strengthener; it has won Beauty Bible awards and the product had a very strong following.
