Christmas Gifts

Christmas, we think, is the time to give treats that people wouldn’t buy for themselves. But at Beauty Bible, we’ve long made a tradition of using the festive season as an excuse to introduce friends and family to the beauty and wellbeing treats we swear by ourselves. Because if something’s made it onto our bathroom shelves (between us, we literally receive thousands of products to try, each year) and stayed there, this is really quite significant! Bottom line: we would be happy – no, THRILLED! – to receive any of the following.

Aromatherapy Associates Star Jewels, £34. Actually, any of the Aromatherapy Associates kits would be top of our wishlist – but this is a beauty: a 9ml size of Deep Relax Bath & Shower Oil, De-Stress Mind Bath & Shower Oil, and Revive Morning Bath & Shower Oil. Literally our favourites on the AA menu; Deep Sleep’s like knock-out drops, De-Stress Mind stops the whirring like almost nothing else, while Revive has us up and at ‘em faster than you can say ‘double espresso’. Aromatherapy Associates oils are a bit like a chain letter, as far as we’re concerned; when you give them to someone, they buy them for someone else – and so it goes on. (Our kinda chain letter, have to say!)

Lanolips Xmas Bauble Tinted Rhubarb Balm, £7.99. This is a completely foolproof shade of soothing, glossy lip balm – literally flatters every woman alive. The perfect lip-proofer in cold weather, too. It comes in a cute bauble that you can hang on a tree, stuff in a stocking – or offer as a Secret Santa gift. (So much better than fake moustaches or a whoopie cushion!)

Aurelia Refine & Glow Miracle Collection, £42. Since we ‘discovered’ Aurelia Probiotic Skincare – when they submitted products for our Natural Beauty Bible and promptly got off-the-scale scores for their skincare from our testers – this all-British brand’s gone from strength to strength. This is a fab way to introduce someone to the collection, featuring the wonderfully skin-detoxing Miracle CleanserRefine & Polish Miracle Balm (one of our go-to products for a quick face wake-up at this time of year), and a 2ml size of the sublimely orange flower-scented Cell Repair Night Oil. (The natural fragrances of the Aurelia products are utterly beautiful – and part of what makes this range addictive, once you’ve discovered it.)

Temple Spa Truffle Luxe Quartette, £50. A wonderful gift for a mum or someone you truly adore, this showcases Temple Spa’s most luxurious skin treats, including Skin Truffle – the highest-scoring ‘miracle’ cream ever to feature in Beauty Bible books – alongside the more recently launched Truffle NoirEye Truffle (we swear by this) and Body Truffle, in a keepsake box that we’re sure will have some kind of future life, because it’s way too beautiful to throw out!

This Works Calm to Go Kit, £8. We’re slipping one of these in everyone’s Christmas stocking. It’s is a little portable rollerball of This Works’s brilliant Deep Sleep Stress Less aromatherapy treatment. Technically, the bottle’s designed to glide onto pulse-points via the metal ball – but we like to apply to palms, rub together, cup hands over the nose and breathe, breathe, breathe. Ignore the fact it says ‘Deep Sleep’; this eucalyptus, frankincense and lavender blend is brilliant for banishing stress at any time of day (or night). What’s so utterly brilliant here, though, is that it comes with a chic little white keyring attachment – so it’s always to hand for stress SOS-es. Frankly, since the gift of good sleep is just about the nicest pressie you can give anyone, pretty much any of the This Works Deep Sleep gifts would go down a treat with any friend who has sleep issues – it may not be giftily packaged, but This Works Deep Sleep Sleep Plus + Pillow Spray, £25, is a real wonder-worker. A bit like being coshed – fragrantly – in terms of its effectiveness, we find!

Eye Candy Rainbow Volume S Brush, £12. We’ve given these away before – but (cross-checking with previous lists, as is our efficient wont!), we’ll be giving them away again this year. Just the most brilliantly volumising brush ever; flat-haired friends are wowed – and no question: the rainbow bristles make the chore of putting a little extra ‘oomph’ in your hair that bit more smile-inducing!

So it just remains for us to say: thanks for reading us on VH this year. It’s a pleasure to share with you some of the wisdom that we’re privy to from our amazing contacts in the beauty and wellbeing worlds, which we find so fascinating. (And we know you do, too.) And have a wonderful, wonderful Christmas, from Beauty Bible…
