My Journey – Arly

new plant growth

It has been a whirlwind month since I officially joined the VH inner sanctum and I still can’t get over it. One of the reasons this new role is so special to me is because Victoria Health saved my life and not figuratively, I mean that literally. Gill, Shabir and the dearly missed Sally Brampton helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life and their collective help, knowledge and support changed me in so many ways. Without them I wouldn’t have a blog, wouldn’t be as passionate about skincare and certainly wouldn’t be here writing this. I know many of you will have only just discovered me through the articles I’ve written on here or from my blog or Instagram, but I have been here with you as a fellow VH Addict for years, and today I want to share my journey with you.

We have all heard the cliché adage regarding health, wellness and skin, how it’s all connected and that you can’t have one without the other, but for me that was never true. For most of my life I existed in the realm of “generally” – generally good health, generally good skin and generally active (but not really), all while eating whatever I wanted and generally looking very well. The Ordinary – The Definitive Review

The Oridnary

We have come a long way since the original ten launches from The Ordinary back in September and what a whirlwind these past few months have been. There seems to be no stopping The Ordinary right now and they just won ‘Best Anti-Ageing Brand’ at this year’s The Sunday Times Style Beauty Awards to top it all off. This is an incredible achievement for such a new brand, but completely speaks to the powerful impact it has made on the industry and on consumers like me and you.

When Gill asked me to write a “definitive” review of all the products I was deeply honoured that she would entrust me with such an important task and couldn’t wait to get started on it because I know that many of you have been waiting for this. I have tested every single product for months now and want to not only share my experiences and results with you, but also give you an in-depth look into how each ingredient could work for you and what each product could do for your skin. This is an exceptionally long review, but it includes all 27 products currently available in the line-up. I hope this article will help you find the right products for your skin and make it easier to understand what you need to be using and why. Read More…

The Ordinary – A Regimen For Every Skin Type

The Ordinary

Even since The Ordinary launched my number one question is now “why should I buy?”. People are excited and somewhat confused, which I can completely understand. Choosing the right products for your skin type and needs can be a daunting task, especially when there are so many options. In the beginning it was pretty easy since there were only ten products, but now there are almost thirty (with more on the way), so it has become even harder to not only know which ones to buy, but how to use them. I wanted to create this guide of recommended regimens and example routines in the hopes that in addition to my review, it will make it as easy as possible to use these products and get the most out of them. CAIS 5%

NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum 5% Review

I love how some things come full circle. Two years ago Victoria Health debuted the Copper Amino Isolate Serum 1% from NIOD, Deciem’s (at the time) newest skincare venture in the 2015 May Newsletter and on Tuesday I was featured in this year’s May Newsletter talking about my love for the 5% version. The honour of being featured on The Podium (alongside the Wayne Goss no less) was exciting and humbling, and led to lots of messages in my inbox asking all about CAIS 5%, so I thought it was time to get my thoughts and experiences out there because I could not love this wonder product more and you need to know why. When CAIS 1% first launched I immediately bought it, fell in love and pretty much started this blog a few months later so I could write a post about it because I was that impressed, and now almost two years later I have been blown away all over again.

To give you some background information, I have been using CAIS 1% on and off (mostly on) for two years and I love it. Back in 2015 it was the most advanced/active product I was using and the results were incredible. I didn’t have a blog then, but you can see what I said about it on Instagram below and I completely stand by that statement. It ended up being one of my most used/loved/repurchased products of the year and one of the products featured in my 2015 Favourites. In my original post I wrote that this serum “really does it all, unlike anything I have ever used before” and I meant it. This was long before I started using retinols or higher strength acids and my skin just responded so well. I used it pretty religiously during that year, but from mid-2016 I started using it less regularly as I had things like NAAP and Verso’s retinol serum and I felt like maybe I didn’t need it anymore. Then The Ordinary launched and I began using a mix of those products and felt like CAIS 1% wouldn’t be necessary anymore but I was so wrong. Read More…

Major Beauty PSA: The Ordinary from DECIEM has launched on Victoria Health

  •

Today is no ordinary day. This morning, Victoria Health exclusively launched The Ordinary from DECIEM and to quote their fellow Canadian Drake, nothing was the same. This is one of the biggest skincare launches in the history of the beauty industry and excited doesn’t even begin to cover how I feel or how important this is, not only to me, but the industry as a whole.

I have been such a huge fan of Victoria Health’s newsletters ever since I discovered the amazing site a few years ago and have grown to look forward to them every month because Gill just writes the best emails. They are like love letters to the skin and I feel like I am hearing from a dear friend, not receiving a mass circulation from a company, but that’s just a small part of what makes Victoria Health so special and you will hear more from me about them very soon.
