Welcome to the August newsletter where we take a look at some new products, we have a bit of a tea party as I write a section about some new infusions and we throw the focus on several common health concerns. Because sharing is paramount, there are a couple of treats, so you will need to read carefully and yet again I have to write about the death of a product, but to balance that, I will tell you about the resurrection of another product. With all the usual news and feedback, I am now going to kick off with one of the treats, which we have done before and I make no apology for doing it again because last time it went wild, so here it comes. Let’s go:
The ageing of skin is a multi-faceted process, which is impacted by lifestyle, dietary choices and genetics. The cells of our bodies are programmed to have a finite lifespan. Each time a cell divides, some genetic material is lost, so that on average thirty to forty cell divisions are usually the maximum and after this the cell is considered to be aged. In order to maintain healthy and radiant skin, you need to protect, nourish and help prevent damage to the cells of the skin.
Nourish Your Skin is an insightful article, written by Shabir, and his core recommendations are to take Hyaluronic Acid High Strength (HA), the most crucial of anti-ageing supplements in our opinion, Skin Restoring Phytoceramides, which is beyond brilliant for dry, dehydrated skin and Astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant.
Here comes the treat; we have put HA and Skin Restoring Ceramides together and then thrown in Astaxanthin as a gift for your skin. Together all three products would normally cost £77, but with a wave of my ‘magic wand’, the price becomes £60, which will give you a saving of £17.
All you need to do is click on the link below, or type ‘Fabulous Skin’ into the search box on our site and the treat will appear. This is a limited time offer and will be available until midnight on Friday 15 August, or whilst stocks last.
Finally, I refer you to an article about HA, which you can read here and you will see just why I continually write about the importance of taking this supplement, in the correct therapeutic dosage of course. All HA supplementation is not created equally, so I hope you enjoy the treat. So go get great skin and you may also be interested in my latest HA discovery below.
Fabulous Skin £60 (includes Hyaluronic Acid High Strength £35; Skin Restoring Phytoceramides £25; High Potency Astaxanthin £17) *** Sorry, this promotion has ended ***
Thalgo Hyaluronic Eye-Patch Masks
Founded 50 years ago in 1964, Thalgo was created when a French pharmacist discovered that medical and cosmetic concerns could be treated effectively by drawing inspiration from the sea. Since that time, their marine algae products have been highly sought after and are a staple in the cabinet of any French woman who knows her beauty secrets.
I have to admit that although I’ve known about the brand forever, it has never really been on my radar until some of their products arrived on my desk and then, coincidentally or otherwise, a friend gave me a box of their Hyaluronic Eye-Patch Masks to try, so of course they came home with me. Over the years, I have tried so many different eye patches and they have all ended up in the bin, so it has become a bit of a ‘holy grail’ search for me.
Of course I use eye cream, I’m a bit fanatical about it, and I also tend to walk around with sunglasses on, even in winter, so although I don’t really have lines around the eye area, I do have puff and they do tend to look heavy because I’m sitting in front of a computer screen for hours on end. As you will have read above, I am completely addicted to taking HA as a supplement, so I prayed that these HA eye patches would be wonderful, and they are.
The first thing to say is that they are very wet, which rather thrills me because they immediately start to cool the under-eye area right down; when you first put them on, you can barely see them, it’s a bit weird, but actually you could go out in them and nobody would notice! They work their magic over 10-12 minutes and after that time, they suddenly become visible and you just take them off. The great thing is that you don’t have to lie down, you can walk around in them and they stay where they are meant to. You get eight pairs in each box and my recommendation is that you use them once or twice a week. If you are going somewhere special, my top tip is to slap a pair under your eyes, do your eye make-up first and then take them off and put on your foundation. I keep mine in the fridge, but you don’t have to and of course now I don’t want to live without them – another secret weapon in a long line of them!
Hyaluronic Eye-Patch Masks £34 for Eight Pairs
We actually thought this product had disappeared forever, which would have been rather sad as it is pretty magnificent for the treatment of fungal infections and warts. However, it seems to have resurrected itself and we are so pleased to have it back.
Warts are small protrusions or raised lumps, which are caused by a viral infection often arising as a result of broken skin or a compromised immune system. The virus normally associated with the occurrence of warts if the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). It is estimated that the majority of the population has been exposed to this virus at some point in their lives. There are over 100 types of HPV viruses and usually each one is responsible for the formation of a specific wart in different parts of the body.
Warts vary in shape and site of infection from the common wart (verruca vulgaris) to genital warts. Warts can be high contagious and therefore you should not use towels, or any objects, from people who already have warts. You can also spread warts to yourself from other parts of the body and because warts are viral infections, we recommend the use of L-Lysine in conjunction with Manuka Paint, which is a topical application.
Lysine is an amino acid, which helps offer multiple benefits to the body, including strengthening the lining of the tissues within arteries and thus it acts as a cardiovascular protectant. Additionally, it helps in the removal of lead and other environmental pollutants from the body. With specific reference to warts, Lysine inhibits viral replication by blocking the uptake of arginine, a major ‘food source’, for the virus to multiply. In this way, the wart gradually begins to diminish in size until it eventually disappears and is helped when used in conjunction with Manuka Paint.
Manuka Paint is based on the essential oil extracted by the New Zealand native, Manuka, which is similar to Australian Tea Tree, but is far more potent in its germicidal, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties. Containing the potent antimicrobial and anti-fungal herb, Horopito, Manuka Paint is our recommendation for the topical treatment of fungal infections, including fungal toenails, athlete’s foot and warts. Manuka Paint is especially effective for resilient warts and recurring warts whether other treatments have not been successful, such as freezing. Welcome back Manuka!
L-Lysine by Lamberts £8.50 for 120 Tablets; Manuka Paint £15.95 for 20 ml
Magnesium Flakes & Inflatable Footbath
Our feet are one of the most absorbent areas of our body and perfect for magnesium replenishment, so please allow me to introduce you to this new inflatable footbath, which has been ergonomically created for ultimate comfort.
Magnesium is crucial for skeletal strength, normalized muscle function, energy production and the body’s ability to detox. It is a pivotal nutrient responsible for over 300 chemical actions within the body and associated with thousands more.
When dissolved in a foot bath, the magnesium flake solution helps feed every cell and efficiently replaces magnesium lost through modern diet and pressured lifestyles. Transdermal supplementation has been proven by Cardiff University to increase the body’s magnesium levels up to five times faster than traditional oral methods, so this is a wonderful and relaxing way to get this vital mineral absorbed.
I do love a foot bath and as an introductory offer we are putting the Inflatable Footbath together with the Magnesium Flakes and together they are £15.95. The normal price of the Flakes is £9.95 and the Inflatable Footbath is also £9.95, so you save just under £4.
Original Magnesium Flakes & Inflatable Footbath £15.95 (Original Magnesium Flakes £9.95; Inflatable Foot Bath £9.95)
Super Yacon Syrup 1000
We launched Super Yacon on the last newsletter and it went completely wild, the manufacturers were struggling to keep up with demand, but we are fully stocked again, so please accept my apologies if you had to wait a few days. If you missed what I wrote, then you can read it here, but for now I just want to give some clarity to the dosage.
Dependent upon your needs, if you want to help maintain healthy bacteria and low triglyceride levels together with encouraging calcium deposition onto the bones, then take one teaspoon three times a day; if you want to jump start your metabolism then we are recommending that you take one tablespoon three times a day.
Oh and one more thing, I wrote that I thought it tasted like the toffee on a toffee apple, but I am being outvoted by those of you who think it tastes more like treacle toffee. Either way, and as I wrote on the last newsletter, it is infinitely better to take a teaspoon/tablespoon of Yacon Syrup rather than eating a sugar/calorie laden desert. Rock on Yacon!
Super Yacon Syrup 1000 £18 for 236 ml
There are so many teas available on the market, including some pretty weird and wonderful concoctions, and we are always looking for new and innovative ranges. The Thalgo range of herbal teas combines the nutritional benefits of algae with the traditional properties of plants, formulated with a wide variety of natural active ingredients; we thought they were pretty neat, so here they are:
Draining: Known for its detoxifying and draining properties, Meadowsweet works with Fucus brown algae to help stimulate drainage of the body and helps release excess water.
Light Legs: Red Vine, known for its beneficial effect on circulation, and Nettle, which has draining properties, work with the brown algae Ascophyllum to help relieve tired, heavy legs.
Serenity: With a soothing mix of Lime Tree, Orange Leaf and Verbena, relaxation is enhanced by the algae Ulva lactuca, which is rich in magnesium and helps to calm nerves. Drink two infusions a day, one before going to bed.
Refining: Green Tea, Meadowsweet and Fucus brown algae help promote weight loss and body drainage; if you are prone to water retention, start with the Draining tea and then follow with Refining.
Digestion: Fucus works with Peppermint and Fennel to help reduce bloating and to help relieve digestive discomfort.
Organic Infus’Oceanes £7.30 each for 20 Bags
Camden Town Bath Soak
After releasing Bloomsbury and Lavender Hill Bath Soaks earlier this year, Soapsmith have created another wonderful scent to add to their collection. All of the Soapsmith products are named after areas in London, so please let me introduce you to Camden Town Bath Soak. Inspired by a walk through Camden Market on a balmy Sunday afternoon where your senses are assailed by the perfumed aroma of incense, spices and fine exotic foods, Camden Town recreates this experience in its own seductive and distinctive style. Loaded with Coconut, Bergamot and a hint of Musk, just add 2-3 scoops to warm running water and relax.
Camden Town Bath Soak £12
One more tea to write about on this newsletter and this time it’s 14 Day Teatox in two parts; the first is Daytox Lemon, to be taken every morning for two weeks. The Daytox blend will help increase stamina and helps energise the body with ingredients including Ginseng, Ginger Root, Yerba Mate, Liquorice Root, Lemon Grass and Fennel Seeds. The Sleeptox Orange Tea contains seven teabags and should be taken every other night before bed for two weeks. Designed to aid relaxation, it contains Senna, which may induce a mild laxative effect to help cleanse your system. Other ingredients include Chamomile, Valerian Root, Hawthorn Leaves, Lavender and Orange Oil. Suppose it’s like a quick two week cleanse, which is no bad thing!
Fruiteatox £19.99 (Daytox and Sleeptox)
Death of a Product
We say goodbye to Pomegranate Toothpaste as yet another popular item floats up to product heaven, never to return. Working on the basis that every cloud has a silver (ahem!) lining, we are now switching everybody over to SilverSol Tooth Gel.
Silver is one of the oldest natural antimicrobials known to man. Scientific studies indicate that silver kills germs, including bacteria and many types of viruses on contact. Silver also works as an anti-inflammatory and it is the combination of these two properties that helps explain why there are many forms of silver products on the market.
With specific reference to helping prevent and treat gum disease, SilverSol Tooth Gel will help to eradicate the bacteria living in the pockets of gum tissue responsible for causing cavities and the destruction of gum tissue. So, once again, all change and you may want to read Shabir’s article on Preventing and Treating Gum Disease.

The Mega Probiotic Treat
Mega Probiotic ND (non-dairy) is one of our bestselling supplements of all time, which is rather fabulous because we believe it is essential for everybody to take a probiotic every day of our lives. I know I feel really sluggish if I forget to take Mega-P (as we call it) followed almost immediately by the inevitable bloating. So, just a quick refresh on the importance of probiotics, followed by a limited offer treat at the end.
The name probiotic is derived from two Latin words: pro, meaning for, and biotic, meaning life. Beneficial bacteria are mostly found in the human gastrointestinal tract and there are literally hundreds of strains with overlapping benefits. Although the word ‘bacteria’ conjures up illness and infectious diseases, it is important to note that not all types of bacteria are harmful and ‘good’ bacteria are tremendously beneficial to the body.
Probiotics work through several inter-related mechanisms; they help conquer potentially dangerous organisms in the intestine, reducing the risk of infections, help to regulate immune responses that enhance the body’s ability to fight infections as well as helping to suppress inflammation. Additionally, they promote the function of the lining of the intestines, acting as a barrier to dangerous organisms and toxins.
With over 80% of our immunity arising within the gut, we need to ensure that we can get sufficient quantities of beneficial bacteria into the gut since the stomach is highly acidic and destroys the vast majority of these bacteria as they are acid-sensitive. Mega-P contains eight strains of bacteria that are coated enterically with a protein coating, which protects them from the harsh acidic environment of the stomach.
So let’s hail this mighty probiotic and for a limited time only, whilst stocks last, if you buy Mega Probiotic, we will throw in a travel size pack of 30 capsules, worth £9.25. This will not show up on your invoice, so please don’t panic, it will be included in your order until we indicate on our site that the offer is over. ** Sorry, this promotion has now ended **
Mega Probiotic ND £18.50 for 60 Capsules
Repairing Sun-Damaged Skin
Moderate sun exposure not only makes you look and feel good, but it also helps encourage the production of vitamin D3, which is crucial for hundreds of processes within our bodies. However, many people simply over expose themselves to the sun resulting in dry, dehydrated and prematurely aged sagging skin which is simply not a healthy look.
It is really obvious that if you are going to expose yourself to the sun’s rays, then you do need to use a high protection sun cream and to re-apply as frequently as necessary. Research into skin and suncare products has been growing exponentially over the last decade and there are some very good suncare products on the market. Our favourite, and certainly the most advanced sunscreen we list, is Extreme Protect SPF 30 by Innovative Skincare.
Extreme Protect encompasses the very latest in research and utilises very specific enzymes that have been shown to survive extreme temperatures and conditions. These enzymes, called Extremozyme, give help to the skin, its cells, our genetic material and of course all the compounds found within the cells. Extreme Protect SPF30 works to provide multiple levels of protection against UVA and UVB radiation containing a physical sunscreen, zinc oxide, as well as a chemical sunscreen.
But Extreme Protect SPF 30’s benefits do not just lie in its ability to protect against the ageing sun’s rays. It goes beyond simply protecting skin and actually helps to repair and re-build skin. Its unique formula contains potent antioxidants including Olive Leaf extract, Vitamin E and Centella Asiatica. Olive Leaf and Vitamin E protect our DNA and collagen from free radical damage due to sun exposure whilst Centella Asiatica has been studied extensively for its ability to enhance collagen manufacture, which is absolutely essential for sun damaged skin.
As far as supplementation goes, Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant known to be hundreds of times more effective than many other antioxidant vitamins and minerals and this antioxidant has been proven to significantly enhance collagen production within skin. A study carried out in Canada involving women between the ages of 35 and 55 showed improvements in fine lines, an increase in dermis density of up to 78%, and visible improvement in the skin’s overall appearance.
As long as you consistently use Extreme Protect SPF30 and a good astaxanthin supplement, such as High Potency Astaxanthin, (see Fabulous Skin at the beginning of the newsletter) you will see the benefits. How long this takes all depends upon the extent of the damage. The results will certainly not be overnight so patience is key when trying to repair sun damaged skin, but we highly recommend this regimen and you can of course use Extreme Protect as a skin treatment prior to make-up, which will give you a rather magnificent radiance and glow, which is attributed to the micronized encapsulated zinc in the formulation.
Extreme Protect SPF 30 £60 for 100 grams; High Potency Astaxanthin £17 for 30 Softgels
Letter From A VH Addict
Well actually it’s an email, but notwithstanding that fact, I absolutely adore receiving your feedback and even more so when you let us know how you are using some of our products. So, I am going to replicate the email here and just to say that I don’t know why I didn’t think of using two Dermasuri’s at the same time, it’s kind of genius and makes the two-weekly treatment so much easier.
Just a couple of comments from me; so many people have been going through some really rocky times over the past few years and life isn’t always easy. For sure, we hold hands and laugh during happy moments, but it’s also important to hold hands when the going gets tough, and oh boy, so many of us know all about that.
I think that one of the most profound achievements in the life and times of VH is that we stay close, no matter what. It is for this reason that we communicate as we do and I feel it is imperative that we only recommend the most cutting-edge and pioneering products; the economic downturn has really driven this message home because if you can only take one supplement, it has to work, it needs to deliver and in so many instances, it needs to help lift us out of a ‘black hole’ and I’m talking here about our bestselling supplement for stress and anxiety, Magnolia Rhodiola Complex; here’s the email:
‘I am easing my way back into normality now, and just wanted to say how much the Magnolia Rhodiola Complex helped calm me down when I was up against it. I took it for several months and it really did give me a lift. I’d recommend it to anyone who is stressed out and/or feeling low.
Magnolia Rhodiola Complex £26 for 60 Capsules
I have now taken to using two Dermasuri mitts at once! They are absolutely fantastic, but using one on each hand really turbo charges my fortnightly routine when I haven’t much time until the hot water runs out! Using two works very well on the legs as it’s like a massage too. They are brilliant value, my skin is super soft and I don’t have to risk breaking my neck in a slippery shower tray using scrubs, hurrah.
The Dermasuri £19.95
I am also LOVING the Warming Honey Cleanser, how gorgeous is that stuff? It is extremely effective, and the texture just makes me want to massage my face for hours. The temptation to spread it on toast is very strong… I’ve noticed that the Innovative Skincare prices seem to have come down a bit which is fantastic. I have finally run out of the Exfoliating Enzyme Treatment, it must have lasted well over a year. I will be getting more of that!’
Warming Honey Cleanser £34 for 120 ml; Exfoliating Enzyme Treatment £54 for 50 ml
Note From Me: As you will have just read, the pricing structure on the Innovative Skincare products has changed. The prices have come down, which I’m really happy about, and this is the first phase of a re-structuring of the brand. Over the next 18 months the Innovative Skincare brand will be undergoing a huge transformation, which is really exciting. There are also some new product launches from the iS Clinical range, but we are a few months away from those yet!
With temperatures soaring recently, the demand for BodyMint soared too, so I’m just going to re-introduce you to this fabulous product, which we launched in the UK several years ago.
Basically BodyMint helps eliminate body odours and has been created from natural plant-based ingredients, which work from within to help eliminate body odours completely.
It is a unique, highly specialised formula, which was created in Hawaii for effective anti-odour treatments in tropical regions where sweat and odour can be a major concern. The product contains a derivative of chlorophyll, the green pigments in plants that facilitate photosynthesis. The odour retarding qualities of chlorophyll have long been known and are scientifically documented. With continual use, BodyMint will help stop odours from different areas of the body, including underarm body odour, problem foot odours and bad breath (halitosis). Clever!
Body Mint £14.95 for 60 Tablets
There are so many common health concerns, which affect millions of people on a daily basis, so in this section we are taking a look at three concerns, all of which have proven results with the products recommended:
Tackling Dry Eyes Syndrome
Dry Eyes Syndrome, also known as keratoconjunctivitis sicca, is the inflammation of the particular part of the eye called the conjunctiva or the tear gland. This condition affects nearly 30% of the adult population, the typical sufferer is female and middle aged and is one of the leading causes for visits to the optician.
Dry Eyes Syndrome can be very uncomfortable and typically the sufferer may experience dry, gritty or scratchy sensations in their eyes. Other symptoms include burning sensations, constant itching, redness, blurred vision and light sensitivity. These symptoms can worsen in dry and windy climates, especially when the humidity is low.
Under normal circumstances, a thin film of tears coats the eyes to help keep them comfortable. This film also keeps your vision clear throughout the day. The tear film is composed of three layers; the first layer is composed of mucin, which helps to ensure an even spread of the watery middle layer, which is produced by the glands in the upper eyelids and by the tear glands. The outer layer comprises of a thin layer of oils and fats produced by the Meibomian oil glands in the eyelids and the main role of this layer is to help prevent the evaporation of water from the eyes.
There are many causal factors that disturb the optimal product of the individual components that form tears, but by far the single biggest cause for Dry Eyes Syndrome are hormonal changes as women approach menopause. There are oestrogen and testosterone receptors on the cornea of the eye and on the Meibomiam gland, which produce the oils and fat, so it is clear that there is a definite connection between tears and hormonal imbalances.
Shabir takes a look at all the causal factors of Dry Eyes Syndrome in an article on the subject (see below) and recommends three products to help alleviate the symptoms, Cellular Support, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and Hycosan Extra Eye Drops, which are amazing for this condition. The eye drops are also brilliant for ‘computer eyes’.
VH Editorial: Tackling Dry Eyes Syndrome; Cellular Support £25.48 for 60 Softgels; Hyaluronic Acid High Strength £35 for 30 Vegecaps; Hycosan Extra Eye Drops £10.95
Treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome devastates millions of lives each year and is one of the many disorders listed under the general term ‘Repetitive Strain Injury’. Of all the known repetitive strain injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome is the most recognised and prevalent concern.
Carpal tunnel syndrome often develops over a number of years with no noticeable symptoms, but when the symptoms do appear, they including a burning or tingling sensation in the fingers, pain and numbness in the hand, an inability to grasp objects properly and a general weakness of the hands. There has been a noticeable rise over the last decade in the number of sufferers and it is theorised that for many this may be related to work or recreational activities that require extensive use of the hands, especially in static motions such as gripping and/or repetitive motions such as typing, clicking a computer mouse and game controllers.
The carpal tunnel is a passage-way comprising nine flexible ligaments, the median nerve, arteries, blood and the lymphatic system, which all pass through in order to help function and movement of the fingers and the wrist. The carpal bones line the carpal tunnel on the backside of the wrist and all the ligaments, nerves and arteries glide past one another with ease in the carpal tunnel of a regular size.
Carpel tunnel syndrome occurs when the finger and wrist muscles are over-used in one-way movement patterns and a muscle imbalance develops and as a result of this, the carpal bones shift making the carpal tunnel smaller, resulting in painful and debilitating symptoms.
The pain associated with mild carpal tunnel syndrome can be alleviated by performing some stretch exercises for the wrist and the use of an ice pack may also provide temporary relief by reducing swelling. The most common treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome is the use of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID’s), which work to reduce inflammation and associated pain. However NSAID’s are not without side effects, so we recommend the following alternatives:
Bromelain: Bromelain is a protein digesting enzyme obtained from the stems of the pineapple plant and has been researched extensively over the last 20 years. It has been shown to be highly effective at inhibiting inflammation and it helps facilitate the healing of any soft tissue injury, including carpal tunnel syndrome.
Bromelain by Viridian £24.55 for 90 Capsules
Pure Magnesium Oil Spray: Magnesium helps to relax muscles and nerves and it is brilliant for helping to alleviate all types of pain rapidly. Magnesium Oil is actually a water-based solution from ancient sea-beds of magnesium chloride, but if feels like an oil. When applied to the skin it is quickly absorbed and we recommend spraying the wrists twice daily.
Pure Magnesium Oil Spray £16 for 236 ml
Aculief: The Aculief is a littler device that works on the principle of acupressure. It is based on the principle of Traditional Chinese Medicine acupressure points, targeting the LI-4 meridian spot. This meridian spot is located between the thumb and forefinger and when the Aculief is worn, the pressure exerted enhances circulation and energy.
Just so you know, Shabir has the Aculief on his desk as he suffers from carpel tunnel syndrome; he swears by the Aculief and he puts it on several times during the day, applying the pressure for just under a minute. I think he is in love with it actually, which is probably why he has written the article list below!
VH Editorial: Treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome; Aculief £19.95
I know I have written about this subject before, but we are continually receiving emails about its varying symptoms and yet adrenal stress remains virtually ‘un-tagged’ as a health concern. Although it is often linked to menopausal symptoms, Adrenal Stress (or Adrenal Fatigue) can also arise during or after acute or chronic infections and as the name suggests, its paramount symptom is fatigue that is not relieved by sleep.
This syndrome has been known by many other names throughout the past century, such as non-Addison’s hypoadrenia, sub-clinical hypoadrenia, adrenal apathy and adrenal exhaustion. If you feel tired all the time, sweat excessively or wake up and cannot get back to sleep, you may be suffering from adrenal stress. Other symptoms include a craving for sweet (bring on the Yacon!) and salty snacks and feeling generally run-down and overwhelmed.
The adrenal glands sit atop the kidneys and pump out the hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol, which help keep you on your feet throughout the day. At times of stress, whether physical, hormonal or environmental, these glands can no longer secrete normal levels of any of these hormones and often over-secrete cortisol. Mood swings, symptoms of stress and anxiety, sleep disturbances, emotional stress and lower immunity are just some of the concerns associated with higher than normal levels of cortisol, so this is not a hormone you want circulating in abundance.
Reducing stress levels is of course paramount and I make no apology for mentioning Magnolia Rhodiola Complex, our bestselling supplement for helping to relieve the symptoms of anxiety and stress, once again on this newsletter. Magnolia extracts have been shown to physically relax muscles and nerves as well as helping to reduce the levels of stress hormones in the body, which is of course key in helping to combat adrenal stress.
Magnolia Rhodiola Complex £26 for 60 Capsules
Yet another treat for each of you, whilst stocks last, as so many of you are hard-core This Works fans. Worth £19, Clean Skin is an award-winning non-drying natural cream face cleanser that helps protect the healthy balance of your skin, leaving it glowing and hydrated.
The choice is of course yours, but you may wish to take a look at the In Transit range, even if you are not travelling, which includes the best-selling In Transit Camera Close Up or the iconic Perfect Cleavage. Just to say that this will not show up on your invoice, but will of course automatically be added to your order whilst stocks last.
Bioskin Junior by Salcura
I remember discovering and launching the Salcura brand on our site over ten years ago and over time the brand has changed and grown considerably. With a background in bio-medical research and science, many highly effective products have been launched, which have helped so many people with compromised skin conditions.
The latest range of products to launch is Bioskin Junior, which has been specifically targeted for babies and children prone to eczema and extreme dryness. In a recent survey carried out by Salcura, over 800 families of children with eczema were asked about how the condition impacted their lives. Almost three quarters of families said that their child had experienced disturbed sleep due to eczema. Heat makes eczema itching worse, so warm bedrooms and duvets can exacerbate the problem.
With five new products, do check these out if you are concerned about junior eczema, although of course they can be used by adults too. Actually I would rather like to put myself into the Milk Bath (I just might) and the Junior Outbreak Rescue Cream is pretty neat too.
Bioskin Junior Bath Milk £7.99 for 300 ml; Bioskin Junior Outbreak Rescue Cream £8.99 for 50 ml; All Bioskin Junior Products
As we are in the height of the holiday season, this month Jo Fairley writes all about Summer Beauty, Sally Brampton writes a fascinating article about comparing ourselves to others (just don’t!), the Beauty Bible girls go Coconuts about Coconuts and Catherine Turner takes a look Under Our Skin.
Taking the lead from Catherine’s article, here are three of my current favourite beauty rituals:
- Giving my hair a full-on conditioning mask treatment with Condition by Phylia; just put a dollop of Condition into the palm of each hand and massage it into the scalp and then pull it through your hair; pile on top of your head, if you have long hair, wrap some cling film around it and leave on as long as you can; overnight is good! The condition and health of my hair is pretty great because I have used the Phylia products every day for two and a half years, but giving it an extra boost makes me happy.
Condition by Phylia £30; The Three Step Kit £103
- Going to bed with lip balm on. A simple little thing, but it’s something I always do throughout the year because I don’t want my lips to dry out. I vary the lip balms I use, but I still love the Beauty Bible Lip Balm and it has a double-whammy use because it also helps prevent those horrid summer cold sores rather well. If you want to feel like a fashionista, then use the Smooth Sphere EOS balms and if you are going to the beach, you can colour co-ordinate them with your bikini!
Beauty Bible Lip Balm £6; Smooth Sphere Lip Balm by EOS £5.99
- I know I am completely biased in my total love and respect for all things iS Clinical and Innovative Skincare, but really there is nothing like slapping on their CoolMint Revitalizing Masque in the heat. I do it at least twice a week, my feet get the treatment too and this is one beauty ritual I am not giving up anytime soon. And when he got there, the shelves were bare – Shabir’s nightmare scenario fuelled by my addiction.
CoolMint Revitalizing Masque £38
News and Feedback
Madness loomed after the release of the July newsletter; I have already written about the Yacon Syrup famine, but what really surprised me was how many of you ordered the Tick Remover Card after reading about Lyme Disease. If you missed what I wrote, then read it here, and you will be particularly interested if you are a dog owner. We thought we had ordered enough, but we kept running out of stock, so apologies if you had to wait, but we are fully stocked at the moment.
Tick Remover Card £3.99
A lot more feedback about Sheald Recovery Balm and the Sheald Post-Procedure and Recovery Kit; at this point I am not going to replicate any more testimonials because you may begin to think I’m making them up, they are that sensational. So all I will say is that if there was just one product I could put in my suitcase for holiday, it would be Sheald Recovery Balm because it covers most eventualities and I wouldn’t want to be without it.
Sheald Recovery Balm £43; Sheald Post-Procedure and Recovery Kit £72 (with a value of £106)
Another new release from Samantha Chapman and this time it is the Real Techniques Touch-Up Mini Set. The minis are your solution for a flawless look on-the-go and include a mini foundation brush for use with liquid foundation or concealer to touch up throughout the day; a mini shading brush to help transform your eye shadow from day natural to night glam and a mini face brush to effortlessly apply powder, blush and bronzer as required. Fabulous for holiday and it also makes a great gift.
Real Techniques Touch-Up Mini Set £9.99
Great, great feedback after we released Sarah Chapman’s wonderful Spot Stickers. Another brilliant product to throw into your bag because you never know when that first ‘twinge’ will happen and when it does, you need to zap it fast. It’s pretty wonderful that the stickers are invisible, so nobody will know!
