Glutamine

The gastrointestinal tract is by far the greatest user of glutamine as cells use it as their principal metabolic fuel. Glutamine is therefore necessary to promote cellular regeneration and repair in the gut.  Studies indicate that glutamine improves gut barrier function, as well as immune activity within the gut, thereby preventing the passage of toxins through the gut wall as occurs in leaky gut syndrome.

Glutamine is also a source of fuel for the brain cells helping to play a role in mental alertness.
