A rich cream to deep nourish, protect and repair skin.

A deep-penetrating replenishing skin repair cream for dry patches of skin and for added winter protection. Contains extracts of soothing chamomile, calendula wild pansy and a blend of enriching oils and waxes to provide a fine protective barrier against the ravages of wind and weather.

Even before the addition of the plant extracts and essential oils the base itself is food for dry skin.  Hypoallergenic lanolin, Sweet Almond oil and Sunflower Seed oil are three of the main ingredients of the base.  Lanolin, chemically, is almost identical to sebum, the natural oil produced by the skin.  It is therefore an ideal substance to 'feed' to dry skin.  Both Almond and Sunflower Seed oil soften and soothe the skin and also assist in the penetration of other soothing, rejuvenating ingredients.
Skin Food can be used as a nourishing day and night cream. It is good for rough, dry skin anywhere on the body; face, hands, elbows, knees etc. It can be used as a protective cream in harsh weather and is excellent for anyone regularly out of doors. The handbag size tube is perfect for holidays or business trips.

Directions for use:  A little goes a long way, so apply sparingly.  This very rich cream is best applied to the face by gently patting on so as to avoid dragging the skin.  Elsewhere on the body gently smooth into the skin until the cream is absorbed.  To deeply nourish hard working, dry hands: apply liberally, cover with cotton gloves and leave overnight.

Water (Aqua), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Lanolin, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Alcohol, Beeswax (Cera Flava), Glyceryl Linoleate, Hydrolyzed Beeswax, Fragrance (Parfum)*, Viola Tricolor Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Cholesterol, Limonene*, Linalool*, Geraniol*, Citral*, Coumarin*. * from natural essential oils.

Is There a Natural Treatment for Hives

Q My daughter suffers with hives – red lumps over her body – when she overheats. Her doctor prescribed an antihistamine, which takes out the itch but not the lumps. A I used to get similar weals from monosodium glutamate, which is often added to Chinese and Thai foods... read more

The Glam Guide to Spring

I always feel a bit penned in towards the end of March. Spring hasn’t quite arrived on our doorsteps and, feeling cooped up after what seems like months of snow, sleet and rain, I like to make a list of all the places I’ll visit when the sun comes out. A Little Glamorous Black Book of places to... read more

Summer Legs

Ah, summer days. How gloriously sun-drenched. How carefree. Carefree, that is, unless you have ‘leg issues’. From late September through till mid-spring, of course, anyone who feels theirs are less-than-show-offable can retreat into opaque tights, and nobody’s any the wiser. But come shorter hemlines and days when even 10 deniers... read more

Stress and Injury

There can be no doubt that the positives of an active lifestyle far outweigh any negatives, but unfortunately with any training and exercise comes a risk of injury. We’ve written articles in the past on combating low energy and motivation levels but there is surely no obstacle more frustrating than injury. There is never a good time to pick up an injury, but more often than not... read more

Common Foot Complaints

You would be utterly surprised at the number of "everyday" skin conditions which can affect the skin and nails of the feet and with this in mind I have been working on the formulation of a new Hygiene Cream for feet to address many of these everyday conditions. The hygiene cream launch coincides with the celebration by Margaret Dabbs Clinics of ‘World Foot Health Awareness Month’ in May and is a must-have in any bathroom cabinet... read more

Tomato Beauty

In the 16th Century, tomatoes were given the name ‘love apples’. The story goes that the Spanish conquistadors, returning home from Peru, brought with them a new and delicious plant from which could be harvested the most luscious, juicy, vibrantly coloured fruit. Some Europeans thought it poisonous. (It is, after all, a member of the... read more

Free Your Breath

Through all the years I’ve been trying to stay healthy by eating well, exercising, taking vitamins, attempting to meditate, it’s only now I really understand that breathing properly is the simplest trick most of us miss in the equation. We can be forgiven of course, as it’s something we all do automatically - approximately 12-18 times a minute of every day. We don’t have to give it a second... read more

Gill meets Margaret Dabbs

What was the inspiration that drove you to launch Margaret Dabbs, London? I was working as a Podiatrist in my own Clinic in Central London and I felt the need to treat feet the way I wanted mine to be treated. I wanted them to feel good, but also to look good, and I set about creating treatments that did just that! It really wasn’t... read more
