Our in-house pharmacist, Shabir Daya has written two articles about Hyaluronic Acid:

Hyaluronic Acid by NHS Labs provides a high quality, high strength form of hyaluronic acid often referred to as "fountain of youth".

Hyaluronic Acid works to plump up the skin cells of the body helping to erase fine lines and wrinkles. Levels of this decline with age and may be 50% less by the age of 40.  As a protein, it can hold 1000 times its own weight in water and hence it is excellent at plumping up and hydrating the skin cells. A primary cause of degeneration of the collagen network of the skin is the decreased levels of hydrated hyaluronic acid, which supports the collagen network. Restoring hyaluronic acid plumps the skin cells and restores moisture in all the tissues of the body.

In an article “HA: How To Live 100 Years Without Growing Old” the author, Bill Sardi, describes HA as a revolutionary natural molecule that stops or even reverses ageing and that HA is the modern day “fountain of youth”. He writes that HA helps to erase fine facial ageing lines and wrinkles and can produce wound healing without scarring. With the volume of evidence growing regarding the attributes of HA, it is also being acclaimed by the US press “as the key to the fountain of youth”

A lack of HA in body joints can set in process the progressive wear and tear leading to cartilage destruction, joint pain, reduced flexibility and osteoarthritis. HA can help with healing because it provides the cushioning between the joints that then enables cartilage to re-stabilize, whereas a lack of HA causes pain in movement and keeps the joint chronically inflamed leading to progressive wear.

Levels of hyaluronic acid have been found to be lower than normal in people suffering from dry eye syndrome and there is justification in the use of this supplement for this concern as well as helping to alleviate vaginal dryness.

This supplement contains sodium hyaluronate, the active form of hyaluronic acid, which has a smaller particle size making it especially more penetrative. Due to its high visco-elasticity and lubricity, sodium hyaluronate has been used to treat inflammatory joint concerns as well as used topically in anti-ageing creams.

Dosage: One capsule daily preferably with meals.

Hyaluronic Acid is free from dairy, egg, fish, nuts, soya, wheat, gluten, colours and preservatives.

Each capsule contains Sodium Hyaluronate 225mg. Other ingredients: Calcium Carbonate, Magnesium Stearate. Vegetable Capsule contains: HydroxypropylMethylcellulose, Sorbitol, Silicon Dioxide

Eat Like a Yogi

Staying at an ashram in the Himalayas taught me a lot about eating. Not just the food itself, but how and why we eat the way we do, and the impact on our emotions and bodies. In the run up to my trip, I read on the ashram’s website that they follow a ‘Sattvic’ diet. I had no idea what that meant, but the list ... read more

The Great British Beach Tan

British beaches are wonderful. I know; I happen to live 250 yards from one. Shingle. Seagulls. Blistering sunshine. (Yes, really, on a good day – and you can read my guide to my hometown here.) Now, Club 55/St. Tropez, Hastings beach is not. I can’t think of anywhere on our coastline, actually, where you have to worry about... read more

Common Foot Complaints

You would be utterly surprised at the number of "everyday" skin conditions which can affect the skin and nails of the feet and with this in mind I have been working on the formulation of a new Hygiene Cream for feet to address many of these everyday conditions. The hygiene cream launch coincides with the celebration by Margaret Dabbs Clinics of ‘World Foot Health Awareness Month’ in May and is a must-have in any bathroom cabinet. It is particularly good for feet that suffer... read more
