Feverfew is a traditional herbal medicinal product used for the prevention of migraine headaches, exclusively based upon long-standing use as a traditional remedy.

Migraines are common, affecting 1 in 4 females and 1 in 12 males in the UK and should not be confused with a ‘really bad headache’. Although it may be severe, the headache is normally associated with other unpleasant symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and visual problems.

Feverfew is also excellent for treating arthritic inflammation helping to inhibit the manufacture of inflammatory compounds by the body.

Dosage: Take one capsule daily with water.

Each capsule contains: Feverfew Extract 500mg, microcrystalline cellulose (plant fibre), magnesium stearate, silica and gelatin (capsule shell).
Not suitable if under 18 years, pregnant, or breast-feeding. Caution with anti-coagulants such as warfarin. Discontinue use if you experience oral discomfort or develop skin irritation.

My Stay-Slim Secrets

A couple of months ago, I shared with VH readers some of the tips I’ve gleaned over the years for not piling on the pounds: what I eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. (Click here to read it). But I’ve also picked up many other tips for resisting temptation and ensuring I eat healthily, even when I’m touring or away on business. I hope – as the bikini season approaches rather scarily fast, and we all start to think about our bodies! – that you might find these useful, too... read more

Finding My Sanctuary

If you are a dynamic person, who treats life as a race, there is sanctuary to be found in the gym. Especially if you are of a certain age. For someone who has long regarded fitness as something that needed to be achieved in record time in order to shed weight (invariably in record time too), it’s liberating to discover that, at a certain point in life, there is more to be gained in challenging your body in kinder, more compassionate ways...read more

Yoga For Life

I am a yoga bunny from way back. (You were more likely to find 12-year-old me attempting Tree pose in my bedroom with a copy of Teach Yourself Yoga at homework time than revising logarithms, that’s for sure.) Over the years since then, the one nugget of anti-ageing advice that I give out to everyone – aside from recommending eight glasses of water a day and plenty of omega 3s – is to take up yoga. And in the hope of making yoga a little more accessible for people...read more

Lanolips

Lanolips™ is the result of eight years work, a lifetime of preparation. And more than a millennia of market testing. I own a lovely vintage book called ‘The Lanolin Book’, published by Beiersdorf who created mega-brand ‘NIVEA’, which used to contain lots of lanolin. One of my favourite passages is this: ‘Everyone who has seen the 2,500 year old Paczyryk carpet in the St. Petersburg Hermitage will have noticed not only the fine knots, but also the unusual radiance,... read more

Tips For Trips

Over the years of Beauty Bible, we’ve done a fair bit of travelling: Jo has countless relations in the States and Oz and now even Sarah (who once upon a time only went as far as a horse, car or train could take her) has been to Australia twice! (Her about-to-be-husband has a home in Fremantle.)Our mission, however – whether it’s a short train hop from Hastings to Charing Cross or a major trans-Continental flight across...read more

Spring

After a winter rest, the power of springtime surges through nature and through us. Ancient Chinese believed that we should live in harmony with the natural cycles of our environment and recognize the naturally occurring ebb and flow of energy reflected in our bodies. de Mamiel Spring Facial Oil is blended to work in synergy with these changes and put back what nature takes out at a time when it is needed. Spring is the perfect time to... read more
