Centaurium owes its action due to group of compounds called bitter glycosides. The taste of these substances in the mouth stimulates the appetite and triggers the secretion of digestive juices in the stomach. This in turn improves the breakdown of foods helping to ease acid reflux, acidic stomachs, heartburn and other gastric concerns.
